Top Christie’s agents swarm Jackson Hole By Mark Huffman | Posted: Wednesday, January 20, 2016 4:30 am A crowd of top sellers of luxury real estate from around the United States and beyond are in Jackson Hole this week to ski, network and check the local market. The Christie’s International Real Estate Global Networking Event, headquartered at Hotel Terra in Teton Village, is bringing 150 real estate people from as far as Argentina and London, said Julie Faupel, an owner and associate broker at Jackson Hole Real Estate Associates, the local Christie’s affiliate. Agents were expected to begin arriving today and to stay through Sunday. “These are people who specialize in property worth a million or more,” Faupel said. She added that the event will lure successful agents whose business is places like Jackson Hole and give them a chance to meet. “The high-end real estate market is a small world,” she said. Rich Moeser, senior vice president of real estate for Christie’s, is in town from Florida for the event. He said the visitors will get a chance to meet and talk business “outside the typical conference setting, without the suits. ... They’ll have time to build some relationships.” The visit will also be good for the local market, he said. “The best networking a place like Jackson can do is to have somebody visit and go home and talk about how great it is,” Moeser said. When they’re not skiing the real estate agents will hear a presentation from climber and photographer Jimmy Chin, a part-time Jackson Hole resident. Faupel said Chin is a natural motivator who is able to speak about achievement and excellence. Another speaker will be Jerry Blann, president of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, who will discuss the ski business and its relation to real estate. The Christie’s people will also have a chance to tour three houses in the area worth more than $4 million each. Involved in providing some memories will be Stio, the Jackson Bootlegger and the Jackson Hole Hat Company. Moeser and Faupel said the informal side of the event is a way for Realtors to establish relationships that might lead a customer in one market to a purchase in another. Moeser said he will have material to hand out that shows a $195 million house in Florida he is trying to sell.
