From September 22 to October 22, 17 locations of Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar participated in the Fresh & Raw concert tour featuring Nashville singer/songwriter CJ Solar and special guests Warren Garrett and Ryan Rubich. The free concerts raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The concert at the Surf City location was held on October 15 and also benefited Share the Table.

Bring the music and food, and they will come! The locals came out to Soundside Park in Surf City on November 5 for Surf City Live 2022, presented by Corona Seltzer. Diamond Rio with musical guest Paige King Johnson played the tunes, while local food trucks and beverage vendors served the crowds. Look for this event next year with big-name artists to headline.

Ocean Fest
PHOTOGRAPHY BY WILTON
WESCOTT PHOTOGRAPHY Thanks to the more than 10,000 people who attended Ocean Fest on October 7 and 8 in Surf City, the Ocean Fest organization raised enough money to be able to grant $45,000 to fellow nonprofits that are doing good work to protect the ocean and marine waters.
Ocean Fest’s festival footprint grew by more than 40 percent in 2022, allowing for a more walkable experience and making room for two beer gardens presented by Fat Tire and Voodoo Ranger. Nine live bands, including headliners Signal Fire, Blue Footed Boobies and national act Dalton & the Sheriffs from Boston entertained the crowds.
Nick Rupp of Wilmington won the Ocean Fest Vintage Surf Contest presented by Salty Turtle Beer Co. Ales Albrecht of Surf City won the Ocean Fest 5K Beach Run presented by Fat Tire with a time of 19:43.
In the Eco Zone, 11 nonprofit eco organizations helped spread the word about ways we all can be better stewards of our ocean and marine environment. And in all, 460 lbs. of compostable waste was collected along with the filling of 27 recycle carts and 11 trash carts.
Ocean Fest is volunteer operated with no paid staff. The organizers give a big shout out to everyone who volunteered to make the festival possible and thanks all of their sponsors, especially premier level sponsors Fat Tire, Voodoo Ranger, Daddy Mac's Beach Grille, Salty Turtle Beer Co. and Monos.
Ocean Fest will return to Surf City in October 2023.
