Pender County Business Expo

 Pender County Tourism held its inaugural Pender County Business Expo on May 24 at the Gymnasium and Family Life Center of the Hampstead United Methodist Church in Hampstead.

The expo provided a networking opportunity for businesses and professionals along with a vendor trade show for the promotion of products and services.

“This is a convenient event for residents to learn about the goods and services located here in Pender County. It’s a one-stop-shop for available services for all residents,” says Pender County Tourism Director Tammy Proctor.

Admission was free to the public and included promotional materials, giveaways and door prizes.

Taylor-Wood Wedding

 Hawaii came to Topsail Island on May 14 with the nuptials of Chip Taylor and Marsha Wood. Chip divides his time between Hawaii and Wrightsville Beach, where he owns a charter boat business, and he and Marsha were engaged in Hawaii, hence the reason for their wedding’s Hawaiian theme. Held at the soundfront home of Ed and Cecile Broadhurst in Topsail Beach, the party venue featured a large garden full of spring flowers, definitely a photographer’s dream. The wedding featured 14 groomsmen dressed in Aloha shirts and khaki shorts and six bridesmaids wearing long coral dresses with flowers in their hair. The music was Hawaiian, and the guests enjoyed catering by Beach Shop and Grill.
