Outstanding tailor-made and small group dive holidays

Welcome

Welcome to our latest seasonal brochure, filled with inspiring ideas for your next diving or snorkelling holiday. This year marks a significant milestone for myself and the team, as Dive Worldwide celebrates its 25th anniversary.

For a quarter of a century, we’ve taken enormous pride in creating many thousands of magical diving itineraries, and precious memories for our clients. Dive Worldwide had small beginnings, with the idea of offering much more than Red Sea diving holidays, when a whole globe of exciting underwater experiences were there to be explored.

When I founded Dive Worldwide 25 years ago, I couldn’t have imagined the remarkable journey we would take. I’m incredibly proud of the reputation we’ve built, the professional and dedicated team behind our success, and all the unique experiences we continue to offer our valued clients. As we reflect on our achievements, we also look forward to the future with excitement and a continued commitment to crafting exceptional diving adventures for eager divers.

In this edition, we showcase a range of new additions to our portfolio on pages 6-7, including new diving options in Indonesia, Mexico, and the Maldives, along with itineraries in Oman and the Galapagos Islands. We also take you to the Pacific to explore some of the incredible opportunities of this extraordinary part of the world, where the Dive Worldwide journey began. We introduce you to our latest range of small group adventures on page 17, share a personal insight into the Philippines on pages 20-21, and present our widest range of suggested itineraries across the globe.

The team and I look forward to welcoming you on your next dive adventure.

Our Marine Charity Partners

When booking our holidays, a small donation is made to help protect the oceans for the future and each year we proudly partner with a marine charity. In 2024, we were thrilled to team up with Bite-Back Shark & Marine Conservation, raising £3,800 thanks to the incredible support from our clients.

Our chosen partner for 2025 is the Manta Trust, a charity dedicated to the conservation of manta rays and their relatives through research, education, and collaboration.

A Message from Bite-Back

The support we received from Dive Worldwide in 2024 was truly remarkable. It’s allowed us to expand our education programme in schools across the country and develop exciting campaigns for 2025 that will accelerate our mission to save the sharks and protect the oceans. We’re enormously grateful to the fantastic team at Dive Worldwide and to its customers who have helped make this possible.

Teresa Bennett, Founder & Managing Director

Founder & Managing

After many years working in the travel industry, Teresa branched out in 2000 to form Dive Worldwide. After noticing tour operators focussed mainly on Red Sea diving, she made it her mission to showcase all that Australasia and Pacific had to offer for divers

Starting Dive Worldwide did not stop the itchy feet, and whenever possible Teresa is off exploring new destinations. She loves nothing better than to explore more remote areas, with a special affinity for the Pacific and her many islands.

Phil North, Dive Worldwide Manager

Phil’s fascination with the underwater world began in Thailand, where he completed an Open Water course in 2002. By 2005 he had the bug and qualified as a Divemaster before working in Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt and Thailand.

Favourite dive destination: Indonesia

“I find the complexity and diversity of Indonesia so alluring. There are over 17,000 islands to explore, and the warm, tropical water surrounding every one holds mystery and delight for divers. You could spend a lifetime exploring and only scratch the surface!”

Favourite dive destination: Socorro, Mexico

“A Socorro liveaboard experience will exceed your expectations, due to the personal and close-up interactions with giant Pacific manta rays and playful dolphins, alongside the chance of meeting 12 different species of sharks on the itinerary.”

Number of dives: 6,000+

Level: TDI Advanced Trimix Instructor, PADI MSDT

Anna Williams, Dive Travel Consultant

Favourite dive destination: St Helena

“I simply loved my time in St Helena. The locals are charming, and to dive so far from any other landmass, in pristine waters was a privilege. Snorkelling with whale sharks is a real highlight. They’re so friendly. By far the best whale shark experience I’ve ever had!”

Number of dives: 400+

Level: PADI Instructor

Jobi Chan, Dive Travel Consultant

Jobi Chan,

Jobi started her working life as a travel journalist and during her time travelling made the most of any opportunity to dive. Following an Advanced Open Water course and Divemaster course in Asia, Jobi became a PADI Dive Instructor and spent time teaching in the Maldives.

Favourite dive destination: Maldives

“I was lucky to work as a diving instructor in the South Ari Atoll. Encountering whale sharks along the outer reef was undoubtedly my best diving memory. With the migration of manta rays and stunning reefs, such as Rheeti Thila (Five Rocks) or Kudurah Thila, this atoll offers so much for divers old and new!”

Favourite dive destination: The Solomon Islands

“In the Solomon Islands, no two dives are the same. You can be swimming through a whirlpool of jacks on vibrant reefs one dive, then through the mangrove roots and muck sites searching critters, or a WWII wreck deep in history the next. With nearly 1,000 islands and very few visitors, there’s so much to explore and discover!”

Number of dives: 3,000+

Level: PADI MSDT

Favourite dive destination: The Philippines

“A particular favourite of mine is Dumaguete, because there’s a great mix of diving and the marine life is so easy to access. You’ll find everything from tiny frogfish along the Dauin coast to big green turtles on Apo Island. I love it!”

Vanuatu’s Hidden Treasures

Team member Helen Cox spends most of her time arranging topside wildlife adventures but recently took some time out to dive the famous SS President Coolidge, an American luxury liner that sunk after running aground in 1942. In addition to the fascinating relics and treasures found during this dive, Helen also reflects on the incredible variety of coral and marine life she experienced.

There’s something surreal about looking out across an idyllic azure sea, knowing there’s an enormous 200-metre-long luxury cruise liner turned troopship submerged close below, the boat’s bow marked by a buoy.

This dive site is rightly legendary; known to be one of the best World War II wreck dives in the world. Well-preserved, and lying on its port side, there are intriguing decks, holes and cargo holds to swim through and explore, with a variety of both civilian and military artefacts to be seen. Whilst excitedly discovering these treasures, we were joined by many colourful fish, clams, a moray eel, harlequin shrimp, and hard and soft corals that have made the ship their home.

We swam past the chain locker and a seven centimetre gun, took a look at an ammunition store, and went inside a cargo

hold with the remains of Jeeps inside. From there, we ascended to a cooking pot which had been brought up from the deep, so that recreational divers can look at branded American saucers, cups and a gas mask. There were several rifles here too, that you can pose with if you feel inclined!

The SS President Coolidge is worthy of several dives to explore further. An iconic sight is of ‘The Lady’, a porcelain relief of a woman riding a unicorn at 40 metres - a sign of the liner’s former grandeur. However, there are many other fascinating items and rooms to discover in the range of recreational diving such as a typewriter, a pile of uniforms, bottles filled with interestingcoloured liquid, a barber’s chair and more.

There are 20 recognised routes to take over a range of depths (the stern lies between 60 and 73 metres). I took the opportunity to do a night dive, the highlight

of which was several hundred flashlight fish that sparkled magically in the dark inside the wreck. A really special experience - like floating in outer space with twinkling stars in every direction.

Ascending from the Coolidge, there’s nice fish life and colourful corals, with electric clams, nudibranchs, turtles and even dugongs possible.

There are other wrecks and wonderful reef dives on Santo, and other islands in Vanuatu such as Efate and Tanna. Whilst in the country, diving can be combined with excursions, learning about the fascinating culture of the locals, enjoying the beauty of blue holes, waterfalls and rainforests filled with exotic birdsong, watching lava explode from an active volcano, kayaking, snorkelling and more. The super-friendly, ever-smiling people of Vanuatu are ready to welcome you into their slice of paradise.

NEW Dive & Discover Vanuatu

Discover the underwater world of the remote archipelago of Vanuatu, home to a plethora of exciting pelagic species living in a range of environments from shallow reefs to deep drop-offs. In addition to a unique diving encounters, experience tribal communities, beautiful beaches, and fascinating volcanic topography on this twin-centre adventure. 15 days from £4,795

Fiji, Where Happiness Comes Naturally

Dive Travel Consultant Anna Williams shares captivating insights from her whistle-stop tour of Fiji last year, highlighting top diving spots, spacious resorts and other local experiences. Read on to discover her recommendations for exploring every corner of this tropical paradise, from manta ray sightings in the north to one of the largest barrier reef systems in the south.

Consisting of hundreds of islands over a land area roughly the size of Wales (but with less than a third of its population), the archipelago of Fiji is famed for its white beaches, luxurious hotels and of course incredible diving. On my recent whistlestop visit, I vowed to return – not just for diving, but for the mountains, tropical forests, waterfalls, rivers … and for the many new friends I made there.

Like the more vast and famous diving meccas of Indonesia and the Philippines, Fiji boasts several distinct dive areas. Thankfully Fiji’s smaller size means you could easily cover two or three areas overland on Viti Levu (the island you arrive on) in a 10-day trip.

I stayed at Pacific Harbour’s spacious Waidroka Bay Resort on the south coast for access to Beqa Lagoon and the Shark Reef Marine Reserve. Established 20 years ago, the reserve boasts the largest aggregation of bull sharks anywhere in the world. With regular sightings of up to seven additional shark species, the dive is worth doing more

than once! Superbly organised and accessible for all diving levels, you definitely get a thrill seeing these magnificent creatures up close.

Left wanting more, I headed to the Yasawa Islands, a sprinkling of about 20 volcanic outcrops up the west coast of Viti Levu. After an early breakfast, a couple hours’ drive and a comfortable and superefficient catamaran ferry ride to Barefoot Kuata Island Resort, I was in the water for my next dive by early afternoon. Beautiful topography and technicolour corals keeps even the most discerning diver interested. North of the Yasawa Islands is yet another island chain, the Mamanucas, where huge manta rays cruise its deep channels year-round.

Back on the mainland near Nadi, a couple hours’ drive north along the coast brings you to the famous marine protected area within Bligh Water. A stay at the luxurious Volivoli Beach Resort will not disappoint, with pinnacles, walls and schooling fish.

A scenic 50-minute flight south of Nadi is Kadavu Island, surrounded by one of the

largest barrier reefs in the world, Great Astrolabe Reef. With 40+ dive sites, this alone could occupy your entire holiday. If time allows, hop across islands from Nadi and venture over to the almost 200-kilometre-long Great Sea Reef to the west of Vanua Levu. It’s the thirdlongest barrier reef in the world, known for its hard coral, many fish species and massive parrotfish. On the east side of the island lies the Somosomo Strait, home to Rainbow Reef, which has deservedly obtained the nickname ‘the soft coral capital of the world’.

One of the many advantages of Fiji is that dive sites are mere minutes from your resort, most offering additional water activities and inland adventures. You’ll be spoiled for choice deciding between rafting spectacular gorges, kayaking the coast, paddleboarding the mangroves or hiking the tropical forest – in addition to a plethora of cultural activities. With excellent road networks, reasonable transfer costs, and friendly people in a place ‘where happiness comes naturally’, you’re guaranteed to want to return.

NEW Dive Fiji’s Soft Corals

Discover the best of Fiji’s Soft Coral Capital on this tailormade diving itinerary. Your adventure begins in tropical Taveuni where you can experience world-famous dive sites such as ‘The Great White Wall’ and the nutrient-rich ‘Rainbow Reef’, before transferring to Bligh Water where you can uncover magnificent vibrant reefs and dive amongst manta rays, sharks and large schools of fish. For more experienced divers, you can drift along the plunging walls here. Adventure awaits!

A must for adventure lovers, this exhilarating diving trip takes you to two of Fiji’s most famous dive locations. Then take a short scenic flight to the magical Beqa Lagoon. Famous for some of the best shark diving, you can encounter up to eight different species here including bull sharks and tiger sharks.

Dedicated Snorkelling Adventures

In response to a growing interest in snorkelling-specific itineraries, we’ve introduced two new trips for 2025. The new liveaboard trips to Indonesia’s Coral Triangle and the Maldives offer the same exciting marine encounters as a traditional diving holiday, but with greater accessibility for those that are unable to dive or prefer the ease of snorkelling. Both trips present opportunities to share the water with some of Earth’s most magnificent oceanic species, and discover a vast array of beautiful underwater, coral-studded landscapes.

Experience the ultimate snorkelling holiday in search of incredible marine life on this 9-day cruise in the Maldives. With a focus on conservation and environmental awareness, our trips run in partnership with the Manta Trust and the Maldives Whale Shark Programme, allowing snorkellers to encounter these magical pelagics on an intimate yet non-invasive level.

Trips can focus on either manta rays or whale sharks, with manta ray trips visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hanifaru Bay, and whale shark trips visiting the South Ari Atoll. Designed specifically for ocean enthusiasts, this trip promises a magical experience with the majestic inhabitants of the underwater world.

Mesmerising Malapascua

Our client and friend Charlotte Breen reflects on her dive trip to Malapascua, where she experienced an array of fascinating marine life in crystal-clear waters including nudibranchs, octopuses, and of course the iconic thresher shark.

I was very excited to be diving with Evolution. Environmentally-friendly diving is at the forefront of any trip that I make and Evolution has been recognised as a ‘Top 10 Member’ by Green Fins – making them one of the most environmentally-friendly dive operators in the world.

Malapascua truly is a diver’s haven; it’s a tiny island – around a half-hour stroll from one end to the other – situated off the northern coast of Cebu in the Philippines. Most significantly, Malapascua is the home of Kimud Shoal and the famous Pelagic thresher sharks, attracting divers from all over the world, year-round. Alongside the dive sites in the immediate surrounding areas of the island, nearby islands are only a short boat ride away, meaning you’ll never be short of new dive sites to explore.

My first dive of the trip was a short boat ride from the island to a site called Deep Slope. Our lovely guide, Albert, led me and two other guests through a magnificently

colourful collection of corals. Visibility was fantastic and we had great sightings of clownfish, frogfish, sea cucumbers and even a sleeping sea horse. Albert was also an excellent spotter of nudibranchs, and as we found more and more I soon understood the hype surrounding these little fluorescent creatures.

I was up bright and early the following morning (a perk of the initial jet lag!) to catch the morning dive to Kimud Shoal, in the hopes of finding the thresher sharks.

And they surely didn’t disappoint! One shark came into view – then two, and after a while, it was difficult to know where to look. We made sure to stay below their eyeline, to avoid frightening them. Looking around, I had one five metres to my left, another ten metres to my right and another circling dozily above. Their tails glimmered like ribbons as they cut gracefully and purposefully through the water. It was mesmerising to watch and I imagined how powerful and precise they

must be in order to stun their prey.

Once out of the water and back on the boat, we were even lucky enough to see one of the sharks breaching – a behaviour I wasn’t even aware these sharks showed. It was an incredible first sighting and the guides were very excited at how fortunate we’d been that morning – that’s when you know you’ve got really lucky!

The following day I made a day trip to Kalanggaman Island – a tiny island a short boat trip away, with an iconic sand bar stretching out into the ocean. The underwater landscape was breathtakingly beautiful as we descended a vast wall, thick with soft coral, through a huge school of angelfish. Topography like this is one of the things I love most about diving. When immersed in an abundance of marine life, it’s an other-worldly feeling, inexplicable to those who have never dived.

St Helena: The Atlantic’s Best

Kept Diving Secret

Last year Dive Travel Consultant Georgia Randalls visited the tropical and remote island of St Helena in search of whale sharks and it certainly didn’t disappoint. In fact, she claims it was the best whale shark experience she’s ever had! Read on to discover why Georgia believes you should add St Helena to your bucket list, and her recommendations for other activities to do on the island.

As we approach St Helena, the island rises from the ocean seemingly out of nowhere. The view from above is magical: lush, green landscapes blanket the island, contrasting with its dramatic volcanic formations.

St Helena is a small island with just under 5,000 inhabitants, and the airport has only been operating commercial flights since 2017, so the area truly is an unspoilt diver’s paradise!

We arrive on Saturday evening and the harbour is full of life with pop-up bars playing music and serving drinks. We stayed in Jamestown, a small town perfect as a base for a week’s diving!

History is everywhere on the island, although it’s most famously known as the place where Napoleon was exiled.

Plantation House, The Governor’s residence is home to four giant tortoises, including 193-year-old Jonathan who holds the Guinness World Record as the oldest living land animal!

Diving and whale shark encounters in St Helena

The highlight of St Helena is undoubtedly the diving and snorkelling. The beautiful blue, warm and clear waters have visibility up to 40 metres and the island is famed for whale shark encounters.

For our first day of diving, we headed out to Long Ledge. It’s a breathtaking area full of archways and swim-throughs in the crystalclear water. Light streamed through the caverns, creating excellent opportunities for photography and the site was thriving with marine life including endemic species such as the hedgehog butterflyfish.

The following day we grabbed our snorkelling gear to look for whale sharks.

Dolphins danced in the distance and whale sharks rose from the depths. We excitedly entered the water as these gentle and elegant creatures swam around us, gliding effortlessly and undisturbed through the endless blue and seemingly staying with us forever. This was by far the best whale shark experience I’ve ever had.

Another diving day took us to the Frontier Wreck, a drug-running fishing boat which was confiscated and then scuttled in 1994. It’s mainly intact and is surrounded by an abundance of healthy marine life including more whale sharks. It makes for some great atmospheric photo opportunities.

What other activities can you do on St Helena?

On non-diving days, St Helena still has so much to offer. You can snorkel from the harbour to the wreck of the Papanui, show off your skills on the rope swings, or swim in the harbour. There are also 25 Post Box Walks dotted around the island. Coffee

tours are a must do. St Helena’s coffee is famous worldwide, so make sure you pick up a bag or two!

So, do I recommend St Helena as a holiday destination?

Absolutely!

One of the wonderful things about St Helena is the sense of community. This creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making you feel like part of the family from the moment you set foot on the island.

I can honestly say St Helena is one of the friendliest places I’ve ever visited. The Saints, as the locals are known, are welcoming, fun, and full of laughter. They truly make St Helena the wonderful place it is.

Put this hidden gem at the top of your bucket list!

Untouched St Helena

One of the most exciting dive areas to open up in recent years, this remote Atlantic outcrop is now accessible to divers, promising endemic species, seldom-dived shipwrecks and aggregations of whale sharks in season. Travelling via South Africa, spend seven nights or more on this charming island, enjoying two dives per day, and the option of whale shark snorkelling in the afternoons in season. Itineraries can be combined with time in South Africa for an extended adventure. 12 days from £3,150

Snorkelling with over 50 manta rays in Hanifaru was an absolutely magical experience and a memory that will last a lifetime. I really liked the variety of diving and snorkelling to see reefs and mantas, plus sharks, turtles, rays and lots of other marine life. Food was varied and delicious, cabins very clean, spacious and comfortable, and the hot tub on the top deck was a very nice addition.

I enjoyed the sheer variety of different marine life and the opportunity to photograph them. Our highlights of Magic Island were the whale sharks of Oslob, the mandarin fish, night dives and in general the sharp-eyed guides who led me without fault to the interesting fauna. At Evolution Resort our highlights were the thresher shark dives and the Gato Island excursion.

Faye W, Maldives, Sep 2024 Lynne H,

Our experience with bull shark diving and diving the Cenotes was amazing. The staff at Dive Worldwide and in Mexico did everything they could to ensure we had everything we needed. We had some lovely drift dives and even saw a moray out hunting and caught a fish! Thank you!

As always from start to finish everything was in place for the holiday all I had to do was get to the airport. The centre were brilliant to dive with, and I really enjoyed both the house reef and the boat dives. I saw some of the biggest moray eels I’d ever seen, in addition to turtles and a reef shark. We also dived an open cave system!

The overall experience was first class and made for a really enjoyable trip. The diving was excellent, boat captains were very good, food was excellent and the overall atmosphere in the dive centre and on the boats was great. I saw dolphins underwater for the first time, had plenty of shark encounters (ragged tooth sharks, oceanic black tips, tiger, bull) in water and hammerhead sightings on the surface.
