Friday 19 May Tot’s Tales – ‘Sharing a Shell’
Come and join in with our popular story sessions for pre-school children at Le Don Hilton - the little white house next to the sea is St Ouen’s Bay. The children will listen to ‘Sharing a Shell’ the much loved book by Julia Donaldson and will then create crafts with a coastal theme. Earth Walks with Amanda Bond
‘To experience beauty is to have your life enlarged.’ John O’Donohue” An Earth Walk is not an ordinary walk... it’s a gentle meander in the woods, along a coastal path, Wetlands or Sand dunes. It’s an invitation to slow right down, dropping thoughts of ordinary life. So expect to feel lighter and uplifted at the end of the experience. You will be invited on a sensory exploration of the area you will be walking in - perhaps focusing on sound or sight, some may tune into scents and aromas, textures, or taste even. Participants will forage for wild hedgerow herbs to share in a tea ceremony at the end of the walk together. Join Blue Badge Guide Arthur Lamy on a linear walk, taking in a number of National Trust for Jersey properties, such as Le Don Hilton, the Wetland Centre and The Orchid Field. In addition to these, we will find out a little about Le Tour CarrĂŠ, Kempt Tower, Lewis Tower and The Barge Aground. The walk will end at Jersey Pearl where you can enjoy (at own expense) a lovely cup of tea after your endeavours! Bugs & Butterflies, Flowers & Frogs Art Workshop
Children will have the opportunity to explore and sketch first-hand the flora and fauna of the beautiful wild nature reserve at the Frances Le Sueur Centre, St Ouen. Back at the centre they can add colour and lettering to their art work to create a wild poster to take home with them. Adele is a fully qualified Teacher and local Artist. Bird Tour & Binocular ‘dust off’ with Neil Singleton
The Jersey Association of the National Vegetable Society will be holding an open day at the home of Graeme & Joy Le Marquand at Les Haies de Grosnez, Grosnez St Ouen. Entry is free with teas, coffee and cake served throughout the day. Enjoy a walk around the raised vegetable beds, fruit cages, poly tunnel and herb garden which was constructed from recycled, materials.

Ruth Heywood (ex Samares manor) will be on hand in the herb garden to advise and answer questions, Nora Treanor (formerly the entomologist from the Agriculture Department at Howard Davis Farm) will be available to answer questions and advise on pests and disease, Glynn Mitchel will be demonstrating various compost techniques. Rosemary Vibert will be demonstrating the full use and growing techniques of the goodness gang seeds, this is a must for children and grownups.

Join local ornithologist Neil Singleton on a bird walk to Kempt Tower and La Mielle de Morville and the bird hides and dust off those binoculars with some tender loving care and enjoy some focusing practice on the local birdlife.
Come along to the White House in St Ouen’s Bay on Saturday armed with a picnic and something to sit on. Enjoy the space and the view of the beach. Please leave nothing but your footprints!
Flora & Fauna - Art Workshop (Adults)
Take a pencil and camera for a walk in the Wild West with local Artist and Calligrapher Adele Dark, around the hidden trails at the Frances Le Sueur Centre, St Ouen, exploring and recording the beautiful flora and fauna of the area. Use your studies along with some beautiful lettering and calligraphy to create an individual art work in mixed media to take home with you. Hop to It! (Pond Dipping) An exciting opportunity for families to dip into the weird and wonderful world of creatures that live in and near fresh water. Children will explore around the pond, identifying and learning about the strange creatures that lurk below the surface.

Barn Owl Walk with Bob Tompkins
Join Bob Tompkins from the Jersey Barn Owl Conservation Network at the Frances Le Sueur Centre for a demonstration and talk on Barn Owls and Kestrels. Learn about their various nesting methods/boxes and life style before going on a walk to see habitats and to visit a site containing two owl boxes and a kestrel box. The walk will travel across Les Mielles de Morville out onto Le Rue du Moulin to the nest sites on La Rue de Val de la Mare before returning down Le Chemin de Lâ€™Ouziere and back to the centre.
