MSMBC Mission Statement

The divine mission of the Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church is to be a positive and effective witness, corporately and individually, for our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 1:8). We are called to win lost souls unto the Lord through preaching the gospel, and to build up and to mature believing souls through preaching, teaching, prayer and fellowship.

Greetings! “Thanks, be unto God for His unspeakable gift” (2 Cor. 9:15). God’s unspeakable gift to mankind is our Savior, Jesus the Christ, the LORD. He, and He alone, is the ultimate answer to reaching lost mankind. Grace and peace be bestowed upon each of you from the Lord.

My thoughts run to the realization that we are definitely living in a hostile season. We live now with the truth that those who with power are using that power to return to former times, times we believed naively to have been gone and never to return. But that is not so. For example, we believed that the true history of this nation, concerning its treatment of slaves and minority groups would be taught in our schools. We believed that majority students along with minority students would learn of the cruel and barbarous treatments of our ancestors. However, those who are wielding power are determined that such lessons will not be taught.

I cringe when I hear majority persons speak of a “glorious” and “beautiful” history, romanticizing the stories and events through which our ancestors lived. I especially cringe when I hear majority religionists speak of slavery as an institution being Godordained, fully within His will.

These thoughts are stirred when I recognize that we have again entered the month of February, which has for a few years now been designated as a month when African American History and Heritage are brought to the forefront for our students and the entire population. February has been the month where we were exposed to the knowledge of many of the great heroes, and heroines who achieved and contributed monumental feats of human experiences to this country which are even the more to be celebrated because of the hindrances and barriers that were against them. In spite of prejudice, discrimination, and racial hatred they overcame.

And, so, again, we must turn to the institutions which are ours, over which we exercise control, to keep the lights shining against the darkness of ignorance. Our homes, our churches, our clubs, our communities, our schools, must become stations of refueling, and regeneration. Through these portals we must encourage the despairing, we must strengthen the weak and the feeble, we must enlist mental warriors of character and integrity.

And with the help of God and our Savior, we shall overcome someday.

Priscilla Circle In Action

Hallelujah and Praise God for His answer to our prayers which enabled Priscilla Circle to provide more than we could even imagine to help a grandmother who is struggling to keep her eight grandchildren together and out of the foster care system. With God’s help we donated clothing, toys and more to be a blessing to a family truly in need. Let us continue to come together as a circle of strength, extending our hands and hearts to touch more lives. May our actions be guided by God's grace, and may we always be ready to uplift and support one another in times of need.

Everyone loves to receive gifts. Whether it is big or small, we love giving and receiving gifts. There are gifts for graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, and baby showers, etc. We even create events just to give and receive gifts. The gift of love is something that doesn’t take a lot of fanfare, doesn’t need a special occasion, and doesn’t cost a thing. Love is something that should be given unconditionally at all times but in this world, we put conditions on our love. If you do this, then I will give you love. Can you imagine if God had conditions for His love? What if God said we had to give up all sin and selfishness and then He would pour His love out on us? Sadly, if this were the case, some of us would be without God’s love. However, God gives us His love unconditionally. John 3:16 (NIV) states, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This is the kind of gift that we should be sharing with others.

This love is not something that should be kept to ourselves. This is a love that we receive unconditionally and it’s the same love that we need to share with others. Everyone that God loves, we should love!! Even if they mistreated us, we need to give them the gift of love. Even if they talked about us and spread our names all over the place, give them the gift of love. Even if they claim to hate us, give them the gift of love. It doesn’t cost us money, peace, or even time to give a person the gift of love. Whenever we remember what God has done for us, it should be easy to give the gift of love to others. As it states in 2 Corinthians 9:15(KJV), “Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift.”

Priscilla Circle In Action

In December Priscilla Circle visited Sister Rosa Hunt, one of our beloved Seasoned Saints, to spread some Christmas cheer and let her know that we haven’t forgotten our Sisters that are shut in. Little did we know what a blessing we would receive from her wit, candor and wealth of wisdom -which she so generously shared with us. Sister Hunt expressed how much she enjoyed our visit. I know that we did too!!
