Moonlit Night Sky Cultraro The scarlet weaves into her cheeks While the light in her eyes grows bleak For something that no longer exists Same as summer’s brief kiss She lies staring at her sheets As the tears pass her face The window’s wind is a harsh embrace Holed up in her room She looks out at the moon Emotions pass with no haste She can’t seem to sleep So she curls up in a heap All the thoughts in her head Make her bones feel like lead As she silently weeps

The Seed In the Dirt By Andrew Clarke

The seed grows in dirt and dies with a rot I think it is amazing, is it not? The seed will grow for a very long time But dies as fast as the drop of a dime But life and death come in more than one form The Pinyons die from a dangerous swarm While elks will drop dead from a freezing cold But they all had lives before they were old Trees will grow from tiny seeds in the ground While elk are born making a crying sound As the rain waters the trees to grow tall An elk mother helps her calf not to fall It’s amazing, you can’t say it is not I’ll grow and grow, I don’t care if I rot

Love By Jhanvi Goenka Your life is based on people you love They go so quickly though, like doves They are pretty while they last But are gone in a flash They leave you mangled They leave you torn Love feels fun Until, gone.

Before it catches you Michaela White

Have you seen the face of love in dreams? Does it call to you in the dark? It screams my name loudly and Love is chasing you still Run before it sees You are gone now Don’t turn back You and I

Life and death Vir Goenka The bird is taking flight towards the light. Your destiny is like a horse stable. But hold your head up, your fate is not right. But you’re not alone, children of fable. Have you ever wondered why you are harmed? Maybe life is like an infinite maze. Bordering the afterlife is a farm. What is wrong with death for life is the craze. Do you ever look at the stars and think? Do you know why the universe has life? Why do we not stop trying not to sink? Why do humans invent things like the knife? These answers aren't for us to know right now. You know the answers, How?

Assorted Haikus by Vir Goenka

Red bird Oh, beautiful bird, Into the sorrowful night You fly, fast and red.

Mosquito Mosquito, the most efficient human killer, stealthy assassin. Heat Haze The tip of the flame, Distorting its surroundings, Unperceivable.

Pandora's box Box of pandora, Releasing calamities, on humanity.

The Fear of Change Gabe Clark

Dangers lurking around each corner The vast unknown at every turn Fear that binds society A terrifying chaos Chaos spawn from thought A fear of The unknown Known as Change

Spoons By Jeremy Rasik Steel spoon, I know how you feel. Lain alone in a shallow bowl, a dried coffee ring set inside your mouth. Having made cyclones of liquids we lay dull in light of spring. Tell me do you still shine? After polish, After the stern caress of one who cares? Can you still give off a flash like a fish seeking refuge at the surface of air? I have made my life in your shape. Concave at times, ready to receive what may come. Tomorrow turned, convex, ready to stave off all that is cold and hot, the lump sum. Let me now be instead, not the vessel but the substance that makes another full.

A Man Who Found His Purpose (Part 1) Chris Crabtree A little boy who never walked alone Grabbed the hand of his nearest brother They taught him things he never would have known First one thing, then another

The boy grew faster than most And his chest puffed with pride Sadly, the child liked to boast But feelings he tried to hide

The boy went off to some old college And he was the first in the family to go He gained no wisdom but got some knowledge But even so, his progress was slow

The young man started to travel some And the family thought it was weird That the youngster just wanted to have fun Going to places the family feared

It was while traveling that he became a man Where he learned about human suffering He knew poverty and pain, so he made a plan The man dug further in hopes of discovering Years it took for the man to develop wisdom To know the nature of the human heart And to understand the complex system Before he could truly do his part The man’s hair turned white, but he sensed much more So, he decided it was time to teach what he knew And students from all over passed through his door He taught them all but reached a special few He decided to teach them for a little bit longer Because he still had so many things to say He struggled sometimes and wished he were stronger So that’s where that boy, the white-haired man, is today

Dragonfly by Zachary Sell

When the Cicadas Chirp By Anina Cubillos When the cicadas chirp it clears my head For the song sings of a shower The waves would be heavy as lead Clouds hanging low their head Drowsy from the toll taking power When the cicadas laugh it brings me back To a time we once first met A salt water ridden shack And a movie taken off track By the lightning giggling, ‘fret’ When the cicadas hum I smile in return Hearing my close friends somewhere in the fern

Huh

HATE By: Skye Boehme

Hate Will come It will win Unless you fight Hate is like a wave It will not ever stop Fight or you lose everything Don't let it come, but it must come Because without it you can not love Without hate you will always be alone
