Welcome 2021. I want to give a great big thank you to each of our clients and colleagues who have supported us in Lorette thus far. We genuinely love working with all of you; each of you is part of the Motio Experience here in Lorette.

In 2020, our Mind-Body and Spirit were damaged for many individuals, families, and businesses. Motio was fortunate enough to mend some of these damages with our new location since August 2020.

All of Motio’s treatments can help in some capacity to help you heal each person’s essence. And that’s why Motio propels our practitioner’s hands to stay focused, motivated and on task to be the best practitioner they can be for every one of our clients.

Psychology Behind The New Years Resolution Many people say the year 2020 was a write-off; I understand what everyone means. There were quite a few points during that year that there was so much unknown happening.

But look at the progress we all, in some capacity, have adapted. Regardless of what anyone’s opinion is on the vaccine, there is one available. In my opinion, it would make things more relaxed for practitioners.

Many of us wake up and go to work because we’re an “essential service” in “high-stress times.” We take on the risk of being one on one with many people who may be honest or dishonest to us, so we don’t know if we’re coming in contact with people or not, so having a vaccine would make our lives much more comfortable.

The Psychology Behind New Years Resolutions And how practitioners can be a resource of motivation According to (Dr. Mark Griffiths, a professor of behavioural psychology from the university of nottingham.) “ 50% of adults make New Year resolutions; however, only 10% of adults manage to hold onto the resolution for more than a few months.”

As a registered massage therapist, many of my clients tell me their resolutions based on being healthier, working out more, or setting aside time for themselves more often as part of my practice. I create treatment plans for my clients and assess and reassess their dysfunctions. But around the first few months, I add a little motivation as part of the overall experience.

Over the past ten years, most clients’ dysfunctions are solely related to their bad habits when It comes to their body.

The most common cause of dysfunctions is 1, stress, 2, lack of activity and 3, body mechanics/accident or injury.

Over the years, I have heard many resolutions, and As an RMT, I help motivate people to stay on top of themselves; it becomes part of the home care that I give at the end of the session. I always note them to let me know their resolution and then over the coming weeks and months as I see them. I try to keep the clients accountable for their personal goals. I have also realized baby steps are essential to be successful with their resolutions.

According to Dr. Mark Griffiths, the most common resolutions are “weight loss, doing more exercise, quitting smoking and saving money.”

As an RMT, I don’t talk to people about those things; it’s out of my practice scope, but when it comes to their muscles and soft tissue goals, I can provide a unique perspective when I follow up to see how their goals are doing.

For example, in smoking, smokers often have a tight neck, shoulders, ribcages, and pecs. Smoking is an unnatural way of using your diaphragm, intercostal muscles, scalenes, and traps.

But as a therapist, I can palpate the muscles and tissue and notice minuet changes such as muscle tone, skin texture, and breathing pattern.

And can assess things and reassess things to give the client a realization of the positive effects in their body.

In my assessment plans, I frequently help people break down the resolution’s essential functions to simplify it and tell them the side effects of success in their resolutions.

The body never lies when it’s in a state of dysfunction

as many clients have these immaculate goals that, in many cases, are unrealistic for the human body to succeed.

When a client makes a point to receive a treatment every 4-6 weeks, I can track the body’s progress or regress. One of the biggest causes for falling off the bandwagon is family influences. Many people don’t like seeing people be successful, and when they know that, they create barriers for people to overcome. But at the end of the day, your willpower is what will triumph those barriers.

Here are Six Ways To Succeed Your Resolution.

1, Be Realistic Many people set unrealistic goals; If you intend to stop drinking, you don’t quit cold turkey; you start by reducing alcohol once every other day, then work your way up to once every three days and eventually down to once a week to once every two weeks to once a month and finally down to none.

2, Do One Thing At a Time One of the easiest ways to fail is to have too many resolutions start with one and set up a reasonable time frame to achieve that resolution make it perhaps a three month, 6-month or 9-month due date.

3, Be Smart Im, sure many of you have heard the smart acronym Specific, MEasurable achievable, realistic and timebound. In the sense of alcohol, consumption makes your goal to have no more than two units of alcohol every other day for one month. You can also connect your plan to an achievement milestone; perhaps you will lose 10 pounds doing this.

4, Tell Someone Your Resolution Even though previously I stated that family could be a negative influence, telling someone the goal will make it concrete. But make sure that you’re telling a person who won’t put temptation in front of you.

5, Don’t Limit Yourself Starting your goal on the new ear doesn’t have to happen on the new year day; give it some time to excite yourself up; also, accept lapses; they likely may occur; in many people, behavioural changes can take years to get ingrained into your mind.

6, Change Your Behaviour With Others Having a support system is a great way to keep each other motivated and find people interested in creating the same resolutions or different as you can help motivate each other with your accomplishments.

This year has Brought both losses and gain throughout the year from being in lockdowns that never seem to end, and have been unable to be with friends and family, but let’s look to this year’s positives. Many of us have done soul searching this past year, and we all have come to realize many things. As harsh as this year seemed to be, ther have been some great awakenings for people, and it could have been worse when you think back on it. We have to count our blessings.
