Where’s Wally? At work with a truck and, is now the face that will appear on a 2021 calendar. Bacchus Marsh truck driver, Shaun ‘Wally’ Teven, has taken out first place in this year’s Castlemaine Rotary Truck Show’s, ‘At Work with Trucks’ photo competition. The winning photo was among 54 judged in the competition, and entries spanned from Queensland and South Australia, all the way down to Moorabool. The photo will appear for the month of January in the 2021 calendar. Mr Teven said his wife Kathryn, was watching the awards live streamed online. “I had to be up early the next morning and was asleep when Kathryn [his wife] called me,” he said. “She called me to tell me that I’d won.” He said it was his sister-in-law Nicole Brown, who had taken the winning photo. Ms Teven said they were over the moon with the win. The winning photo shows Mr Teven working on the custom-built Kenworth T909 truck’s engine, with a huge smile. Starting out as a mechanic 11-years ago, Mr Teven said he loves driving them more and now works for Ballan based trucking firm Dickerson Bulk Haulage. Ms Teven said the pair would normally attend the truck show every year, but due to COVID-19 the event was moved online. “[Castlemaine Rotary] sent out an email saying the show was a no go, that it was going to be virtual, and that they were going to do a calendar instead. “They said we could pay to enter up to three photos and we had to write a little bit of a story about the driver,” Ms Teven said. “So, we entered a couple of photos of Shaun and the truck. They asked us what we were proud of about the truck, and we mentioned the MoVember campaign and all the boys getting involved,” she said. Mr Teven won a Waeco fridge freezer Sponsored by Used Trucks. He was also one of the 16 local men involved in the Truckstache Drivers MOvember fundraising team who raised over $20,000 for men’s mental health.
