Graduation Requirements

A list of criteria to meet to accept an Associate’s Degree

1Status as a degree-seeking student.

2Satisfactory completion of one of the programs listed in this catalog.

3Completion of a minimum of 60 credit hours. Fifteen credit hours of transferable credit applicable to the declared associate degree intended for graduation must be completed at St. Louis Community College.

A maximum of nine credit hours in special problems courses may apply as unspecified electives toward the associate degree. Special Problems courses may not be applied as electives defined by disciplines such as “science-mathematics elective” or “humanitiescommunications elective.”

4A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (C) or higher. Credits from previously-attended colleges are not computed on the average.

5Students entering college for the very first time in fall 2019 and who intend to complete an associate’s degree must successfully complete a civics examination. Students who have completed dual credit courses must complete this examination. Students who participated in Early College or other dual enrollment programs, transfer students, and previously enrolled students are exempt from this requirement.

6College policy requires students who apply for a degree to participate in an appropriate outcomes assessment prior to degree being awarded.

7Missouri Requirement: One of the following courses is required to meet the Missouri Civics requirement:

United States History to 1865 United States History from 1865 to the Present African American History through Reconstruction African American History from Reconstruction to the Present Introduction to American Politics
