Minecraft Survival Handbook: From First Night to the Ender Dragon This handbook walks you through a full Minecraft survival journey in clear stages. Each stage lists what to collect, what to build, and the mistakes that most new players make. It works for both Java and Bedrock Edition.
Stage 1: The First Day Wood first. Collect at least 16 logs. Turn them into planks, sticks and a crafting table. Wooden pickaxe, then stone tools. Stone tools last almost twice as long as wooden ones and take only seconds to make. Shelter before sunset. A day lasts 20 real minutes. Start building when the sun is halfway down, because zombies, skeletons and spiders spawn in the dark. Bed and torches. A bed needs 3 wool and 3 planks. Sleeping skips the night and sets your respawn point. Light your shelter with torches so mobs cannot spawn inside.
Stage 2: Mining and Better Gear Ores appear at different heights. Since the Caves and Cliffs update, the world goes down to Y = -64, so the best mining level depends on what you need. Ore

Strip mining tip: Dig a 1x2 tunnel at diamond level and branch off every 3 blocks. Always carry a water bucket in case you hit lava.
Stage 3: Food and Farming Hunting only takes you so far. Build a small wheat farm next to water, then breed cows and sheep with wheat. Cooked steak and porkchop restore the most hunger. Carrots and potatoes grow faster than wheat once you find them in villages.
Stage 4: Enchanting and the Nether An enchanting table needs 1 book, 2 diamonds and 4 obsidian. Surround it with 15 bookshelves for level 30 enchantments. Build a Nether portal with at least 10 obsidian and light it with flint and steel. In the Nether, collect blaze rods from fortresses and wear gold armor near piglins so they stay calm.

Stage 5: Finding the End Mix blaze powder with ender pearls to make Eyes of Ender. Throw one into the air and follow it to the stronghold. You need up to 12 eyes to fill the End portal frame.
