Coast Academy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is excited to announce that we are now officially an Affiliate Club of American Top Team New Zealand
American Top Team New Zealand, under the guidance of Master Ricardo Liborio and vision of Professor Steve Oliver, now provides a pathway for our elite and most talented Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners, wrestlers and MMA fighters to train in elite facilities with world class trainers, while providing opportunities to compete in some of the largest and most prominent organisations in the world.

Matt O’Dea, Coast Academy BJJ Brown Belt Instructor, says: “This affiliation is a great opportunity to connect with New Zealand’s and the world’s leading MMA and BJJ clubs”.
American Top Team NZ is looking to take more than 20 members to American Top Team’s brand new, multi-million dollar training facility in Miami in late November. This is going to be an epic trip and learning experience for our New Zealand network of trainers and some of our top athletes. Coast Academy BJJ needs to fundraise $3,500 per person for the ten-day C trip; so, if anyone has any great ideas or would like to support us, we would love to hear from you.
Y The Coast Academy BJJ kids have been involved actively in this exciting new sport and most recently competed at the NZ Grappler Competition at the Waitakere Trust Stadium. Braiden Parks (Orewa) earned himself a gold medal; Jaden O’Dea (Red Beach) received a silver medal and Millwater’s own Brooke Furniss received her first win with outstanding technical skills. Justin O’Shea, another up and coming athlete, showed grit, determination and awesome defensive skills. The future is looking bright for these young kids. Coast Academy BJJ has recently relocated to the Nippon Judo Hall, 12 Hibiscus Highway, giving us over 200 square metres of mat space. With the additional space to grow and train, this facility will become the home of future champions.
