Nan Fung Textiles was founded in 1954 by Dr. D. H. Chen and grew to become a cornerstone of the territory’ s dominant textile industry in the booming manufacturing era of the 1950s. Nan Fung Textiles initially comprised 6 factory buildings named Mills 1 through 6 respectively. While Mills 1, 2 and 3 were redeveloped in the 1990s, Mills 4, 5 and 6, completed between 196070, are the buildings that have been transformed to become The Mills today. Together, The Mills now covers roughly 260,000 sq. ft. and houses 3 pillars: Fabrica, Shopfloor and CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile).
