WHAT ARE WE TO EXPECT IN SEASON 3 OF THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY?

Season 3 of the number 1 series on Prime Video ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ is back for their next and final season. Based on the trilogy by author Jenny Han, the new season is expected to follow the third book ‘We’ll Always Have Summer’ As we know at the end of Season 2, Belly choses Jeremiah, despite past experiences with brother Conrad in a heated love triangle. What should we expect from the gang at Cousins Beach?

Gavin Casalegno who plays the heartthrob Jeremiah has said “I know Jenny is really just strong on staying as true to the books as possible and hitting the main points”. But we all know that Jenny loves to make her own spin on the books to appeal to the next generation's audience. Recently, Han has revealed to us that season 3 will have 10 episodes in the third and final season due to the time span at the beginning of the book. Last year, the filming had been postponed due to many strikes, so we might be getting a later summer than usual. Sources have suggested that filming will take place from March 20th to July 31st due to the strikes and Lola Tung who plays Belly being in the Broadway musical ‘Hadestown’. Luckily, all the cast are still going to be playing their usual parts in the hit show so be excited for that! The plot for season 3 will most likely kick off with the lives of Belly and Jeremiah as in season 2 when they get together in the final episode. For all the Conrad lovers, we know from Han’s final novel that Belly is constantly second-guessing herself, so who knows what will happen? We also know that the way the Fisher brothers left off at the end of season 2, they still have issues that need to be sorted out about their relationship. Will the TV series follow the book with team Jeremiah going strong in his relationship with Belly and no Conrad to be seen for the first part? This could be anyone’s game but continue to root for your team!

We can’t wait for this next chapter to unfold!

Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a Futsal player? When did you start playing?

I started playing Futsal last year for the school on a gala day I also play football (soccer), so I thought it would be a similar sort of game. From there, I was selected for the ACT team to play in a competition in September last year.

What inspired you to take up Futsal, and how did you develop a passion for the sport?

I wasn’t inspired to play futsal; I just thought it was a really fun opportunity to play a new sport and represent the school. I developed a passion for it when, in the Futsal national competition, the team was doing well and winning all of our games, especially since for many of my team, this was our first time playing in a big competition.

My biggest influence was probably my coach in Fiji. She helped the team work well together, which is amazing considering the first time we met and played together was in Fiji. She gave us some amazing coaching to improve our skills, which ultimately made us win the tournament.

What does a typical training day look like for you?

Because futsal is a summer sport I am in the off-season at the moment, I still have soccer training on so I have that around 4 nights a week When the futsal season begins have training 1 night a week that includes goalkeeper training and games against other teams.

How do you balance training with other commitments like school or work?

I try and make sure that I prioritise school over sport, so sometimes I just take a night off training and finish my assignments. I also sometimes bring the computer in the car and try and do some when travelling to training

How did you feel when you found out you were selected to represent Australia in Futsal?

It was an amazing experience being selected, there was an awards night at the end of the competition in September and when we were there an All-Stars team was selected, which is from each of the coaches from the different teams that we versus voting for the best players. Around a week later we got sent an email from Australia Futsal (AFA) saying were selected to go to Fiji and represent Australia, it was so exciting, and I couldn’t wait.

Can you share some memorable moments or highlights from your international competitions?

One of my favourite memories is when we won the tournament, all of the Australian teams were watching, and it was such a great atmosphere. When the game ended the other U15s girl's teams that didn’t make the final ran onto the court and celebrated with us.

What are your goals for the future, both in Futsal and personally?

My goal for the future in Futsal is to continue to improve my skills and hopefully go on another tour!

DIAMONDS DOMINATE

Our Australian Diamonds have continued to smash the other competitors in yet another Netball Nations Cup win over the England Roses in January this year. Beating the Roses by a huge 20 goals and having a perfect record with a win against England, New Zealand and Uganda.

In the first quarter of the grand final takeover, the unbeatable Diamonds had a strong lineup with star shooters Sophie Garbin in Goal Shooter and Sophie Dwyer in Goal Attack. The defence lineup also dominated England shooters putting pressure and maintaining ball possession.

By the end of the dominating first quarter, the Diamonds were in the lead by four goals but the England Roses upped their game in the second quarter. This caused some errors to the Diamonds game play but they still continued to lead the Roses at halftime by ten goals

In the third quarter, the strong connections in all areas of the court for the Diamonds rewarded them with more power to make the most of all opportunities to further extend the lead by a huge 18 goals at three quarter time. This meant that it was almost impossible for the England Roses to come close to beating the unbeatable Australian Origin Diamonds.

The strong connections did not disappoint in the fourth and final quarter with Diamonds coach Stacy Marinkovich putting some changes onto the court which secured the Diamonds outcome. The ball continued to smoothly move from the hands of Courtney Bruce and Sarah Klau all the way down to super shooters Sophie Garbin and Sophie Dwyer. With another strong quarter that rewarded the Diamonds the grand final win with a final score of 69-49. The player of the Match was Sophie Garbin with her incredible performance on the court and the Player of the Series was Vice-Captain of the Diamonds, Paige Hadley.

We look forward to supporting the champions in their other international matches so tune in on Kayo or Foxtel.

The Seventh Veil of Salome American Psycho

Every actress wants to play Salome, the princess consumed with desire for the fiery prophet who foretells the doom of her stepfather. But when Vera is cast, Nancy Hartley will do anything to win the fame she believes she richly deserves. These two actresses will make for a sizzling combination in the golden age of Hollywood.

Patrick Bateman is 26 and works on Wall Street. He is handsome, sophisticated, charming and intelligent. He is also a psychopath. A story of America's greatest dream and its worst nightmare American Psycho is a bitter, black comedy about a world we all recognize but do not wish to confront.

SKINCARE AND MAKEUP PRODUCTS FOR SUMMER

Skin care routines for summer are essential to keep yourself looking radiant, glowing and healthy.

Your first step to achieving success in your summer skincare routine is to start each day with sunscreen. Sunscreen is crucial because it protects you from the UV rays and getting burnt I recommend the Supergoop, Ultra Violette or the La Roche-Posay sunscreen. On the cheaper side you can purchase sunscreen from your local grocery store, for example the cancer council ones are great for any skin type!

To maintain young, clean, vibrant looking skin it is also essential to develop a daily routine of cleansing, toning and moisturising. You should have a reliable cleanser that you use everyday which will help remove the grime and reduce any acne or pimples. Affordable and trustworthy cleansers are from the MCoBeauty or CeraVe skincare ranges. I would also highly recommend using a toner such as the Glow Recipe or CeraVe Toner to restore and rejuvenate your skin. These are both great toners as they are effective and safe for different skin types. Your final step to your daily routine is to hydrate your skin and combat summer conditions with an affordable moisturiser such as CeraVe or Cetaphil Slightly more expensive options would be Drunk Elephant, Kalade or Glow Recipe.

Summer makeup routines are another necessity to achieve the perfect summer glow. Skin tints, highlighters, bronzing drops, blush and lip products are stables to your summer makeup routine. I highly recommend the Ilia skin tint which is SPF 40, the Rare Beauty Liquid Highlighter, and the Drunk Elephant Bronzing Drops for that summer glow look These are a great way to look glowed and tanned in summer without damaging your skin in the sun. On the cheaper side you can purchase the MCoBeauty Bronzing Drops which is half the price of the Drunk Elephant ones and they work just as well! To accentuate your cheeks, I would highly recommend using any of the Cheek and Lip Tints from Benefit as they are lightweight and easy to blend and apply. For your lips, I would suggest that the Laneige Lip Mask is your best bet as it comes with various flavours and is smooth on your lips.

Your skin will thank you for developing these healthy skincare routines!!

Paired

Left, right! Left, right! We marched in tandem, one then the other. Over the crunch of gravel, over the crisp crack of twigs, over the slight thump on pavement, the squeak of polished wooden floorboards, always two of us at once. Then, in the evening, after we had traversed mountains, valleys, plains, and cities, She would put us back in Her box with all the other shoes.

We were really the only pair She wore, though the box was full: sandals, runners, boots, even a pair of impossible high heels that She had worn to a party once. The dust gathered on their crevices, dried mud long since knocked from rubber soles now resting alongside dried tendrils of grass and a lone sock, long since outgrown and discarded.

The day She’d bought us, a tiny pebble had gotten lodged between the hexagon treads of our left sole. Sitting on the front step of Her house, She held a slim stick in Her hand and dug it out from the rubber. We were Her shoes of choice every day since then, crossing vast tracts of land. On our right toe was a splash of green paint from one of Her artistic endeavours. The paper She had embellished was long-since lost in a crevice of Her house, though our canvas still held the splotched pigment. Now, the paintings She made never stayed on her walls for long, always being sold and replaced with new ones. We liked a blue ballerina, her limbs stretched impossibly long, but that one, like the others, did not stay long.

She put out a splattered white sheet when She painted now, aware of the danger of stains on carpet or tables. She had worn us the day She spilled epoxy over the kitchen floor, when Her father lambasted her carelessness. We had felt Her tremble, and had carried Her to the garage, where Her father helped set up a place to paint. We had been carefully removed, and no longer worn when she splashed paint across ever-larger canvases.

One day, when She had slept in and hurried from the door, She had forgotten to tie our laces as She sprinted for the bus that had never been missed before. Had anyone else done such a thing, we would have been indignant - scandalised - but it was Her, and She was the person we could trust. One of our laces caught in the door of the bus as we leapt on, graceless and stumbling, and we felt a visceral pain as it tore. She had glanced down, surprised, and wove our laces into the familiar bows. But the damage was done. That day, and the next, threads crept from their confines and frayed into a fan that we could tell bothered Her.

Sitting in the library, Her hand crept absent-mindedly to Her ankle to tease the frayed ends. We had let Her down. She wouldn’t want to wear us anymore. We were broken. We should have kept our laces tucked neatly inside, removing the need for bows at all. Shame penetrated every fibre of us both, and we could not look at either each other or at Her.

We thought that was the end of us - the last day She would ever make the mistake of honouring us with Her choice. But it wasn’t. She grew attached to us - wore us until our soles were almost smooth, and the inner back of our heels were worn into Her shape. She asked Her father for a new pair of shoelaces when ours wore completely to stubs.

She kicked us off Her feet as She got home that evening, fell onto the green couch, and patted the ears of Her dog. Her father would always tell Her to put us in the box - that night, however, despite Her care, She forgot about us and we were caught up in the dog’s jaws. Her father wrestled us from his slobbery mouth and we were put into the basket.

She opened up Her box the next morning and Her pretty eyes narrowed in confusion - why was there only one of us? We were split. One of us was where we should both be sitting together, waiting for Her to take us on the day’s adventure. She closed the lid, then reopened it, as if to reset her eyesight and expect to find us both as we always should be.

We could hear Her thundering around the house, increasingly frustrated as not one nook and cranny yielded what She sought. Eventually, Her father called out“You’re going to miss the bus! Wear a different pair!”

She opened our box again and thrust her hand into the untouched depths. It felt wrong to be knocked aside, for her hand to waver as she selected an ancient pair of runners with their thin laces long-since twisted into a Gordian knot. She forced her feet into the too-small openings, and we caught a glimpse of a small, round hole in the heel of her sock. Those shoes would rub the exposed skin into a tender blister, they were too small. We compulsively reached out to try stop her, but it wasn’t our job to make her choices. And we were only half of a whole - she wouldn’t be wearing us today.

The lid of the box closed out our sight.

The hours wore on, turning into days. We felt hollower than our bodies - like the very fabric that made us was missing part of its weave. We were now another lonely piece of detritus, falling lower and lower into the oppressive tangle of shoes. Once it was our home, now it was our prison.

We wondered if She would ever wear us again.

If we would ever be an Us again.
