Armed Forces and Veterans Day honours the outstanding contribution made by current members of the armed forces and by veterans of all ages. The day is an opportunity for us all to join together to pay tribute to our armed forces past, present and future. Join the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Cllr Jayne Dunn, veterans, forces personnel and cadets on Saturday 22 June to celebrate Armed Forces and Veterans Day. Watch the veterans parade and ceremony, tap your toes and sing along to the Ashby Big Band as they transport us back in time with wartime classics and some dance floor favourites and see the forces display stands and find out more about cadets, the armed

forces and the armed forces covenant. This year’s event marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day and provides a poignant opportunity to commemorate the service and sacrifice of those who lost or risked their lives and to reflect upon the human cost of conflict. As war and conflict continue in Ukraine and the Middle East we hold onto hope for a more peaceful world and commemorate the service and sacrifice of all those who risk their lives to help keep us safe and allow us to maintain our freedom. The Parade form up will start at 11.30am and begin at 11.55am with a Ceremony at 12 noon plus Music at 12.30pm and 2pm. Rotherham will also come
together again to say thank you to our Armed Forces community on Saturday 22 June. Led by the Council, in collaboration with the Armed Forces community, the Armed Forces Day event will provide an opportunity to come together and thank those who have fought for our country, as well as showing our support for those currently serving. This year’s event, taking place in the town centre, will include a military parade, followed by a parade inspection, Act of Worship, speeches, and cadet displays. Entertainment will take place at All Saints’ Square throughout the day. The event programme is as follows:
• Stalls on Effingham Street from 10am to 4pm • The Armed Forces Day Parade will move off from College Street at 10.20am The parade will be led by a marching band with military contingents, cadets and veterans • Entertainment at All Saints’ Square from 11.25am to 4pm In Doncaster the city will show support for the people who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets. The parade will be at 11am and travel along Duke Street, St Sepulchre Gate, High Street, Hallgate and South Parade. Celebrations will continue afterwards on Elmfield Park.
This year’s focus is youth with a a number of displays taking place by the Cadets from all services. This will be a family event packed full of experiences and activities and with a Military Village of demonstrations, stalls, and interactive displays. Road Closures to deliver the parade will affect parts of the City Centre from 9am – 12 noon.
