TOUR DE YORKSHIRE FAN ZONE LINED UP IN DONCASTER Whether you’re a cycling fan or just looking for a fantastic day out, the exciting event is part of Doncaster’s celebrations to mark the Tour de Yorkshire visiting the borough. And what’s more, it’s absolutely free! A large 18 metre by 12 metre marquee with terrace and decking area will be the home of Café Doncaster. Here visitors can sit down and enjoy refreshments from one of the food and drink stalls, watch the action on dedicated television screens and take a closer look at the work of Lucy
Pittaway, the official Tour de Yorkshire artist. There will be cake and crepe stalls, quaint food caravans, a Toppings Pie stall and even a replica steam train serving barbeque food. This is all designed to provide that homely village feel. To keep people entertained between the Men’s and Asda Women’s Tour de Yorkshire races which people can follow on a large screen, there will be lots of fun things for people to see and do in the Fan Zone and on the finish straight on Bennetthorpe. A variety of performers
will be on show. Musicians will keep people in the party mood, living statues including a bronze statue of a kitted out cyclist will make people stop and look, a balloon modeller will transform balloons into yellow and blue bikes and an escapologist and magician will showcase his skills to the audiences. There will be traditional fairground rides, games and stalls for children. Interactive displays, including cycle powered machines which create bubbles, a water fountain and electricity
