CLASS NOTES Maureen Daly Stroppel ’60 just became a Grand-Aunt to Kieran! Catherine Ranky Szabo ’60 had four grandchildren graduate from college in 2016. Her grandson, Brian, received his Master’s Degree from Binghamton University; granddaughter Melissa received her BA from Florida State University; granddaughter Jessica received her BA in Economics & Statistics from the University of Virginia and grandson

Rita Dubatowka Batchley ’79 is looking forward to the birth of her third grandchild in 2018. Rita hopes her granddaughter gets to attend a great school like TMLA someday! Linda Pisano Bonventre ’73 is the president of Woltmann & Bonventre, Inc., a custom house broker. Linda’s son, Stephen and daughter-in-law Laura, gave her a first grandchild, Nicholas Stephen Bonventre, in June of 2017. Her daughter Jaime married Kevin Paczkowski in September of 2017. Linda has been married to Joe for forty years! Suzette Bianchi Casabianca ’73 is teaching Language Arts and learning disabled and/or emotionally-behaviorally disordered middle school students in New Port Richey, Florida. She just became a Certified Divorce Mediator and expects to add that aspect of family service to her practice shortly. Amparo Diaz Connors ’78 celebrated her thirty-fifth wedding anniversary in 2017 with Jeff, her high school sweetheart. Jeff retired two years ago from CUNY. Their son, Jeffrey, is a Regis High School and Fordham University Music graduate. Their daughter Kristina ’07, graduated from Stony Brook University and

Her grandson Alex is a freshman at Geneseo College, granddaughter Annie is attending Kent State University in the fall of 2017 and grandson Connor is a sophomore at Northeastern University. Elizabeth Burkitt Wheatley ’63 life in eastern NC has been good to Betty and her husband Ed. They spend summers in the mountains and the rest of the year near their

grandkids! She does her best to support her musician husband who is still performing, a working daughter and son-in-law, and two fantastic grandsons with their school, baseball, basketball and fishing. As long as she can do yoga and get her hands on fabric for quilting, yarn for knitting, paper for drawing and can share it with friends, she is happy. Betty sends her best!

After TMLA, Amparo completed a double major BA in 3-1/2 years. After working in both the retail and staffing industries, Amparo founded Allied Personnel Services, Inc. to actualize a personalized commitment to excellence. She has received recognition from NYC Small Business Services and NYU for "Strategic Steps for Growth" Executive Training Program. She has served as a Board Member of many organizations and is an annual participant in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. Amparo serves with TMLA’s Alumnae Association as a Class Rep for ’78. She shares the TMLA Alumnae sisterhood with her sisters, Leonor Diaz Falcone ’75, Esperanza Diaz ’81, Olga Diaz Reid ’83 and sister-in-law, Valerie Connors McCluskey ’90.

Dolores Murena Grant ’73 volunteered for the Disaster Emergency Medical Personnel System (DEMPS) and was assigned to a fourteen-day mission to serve as the Administrative Officer at the Federal Medical Station (FMS) in Manati, Puerto Rico. The FMS was set up in a sports stadium, and they had 40-50 admitted patients, and daily treated approximately 200 patients in triage. It was an honor for Dolores to serve and help the people of Puerto Rico!

Joan Miglino Goebel ’73 just retired as a high school math teacher from Edward R. Murrow HS. She has stepped up her traveling and is enjoying her family. She resides in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and is looking forward to seeing her classmates in 2023!

Theresa Porta Klieber ’73 is retired and living in Portland, Oregon.

Lucy Curci Gonzalez ’73 has been the Executive Director at the New York Law Institute since January of 2016. The New York Law Institute is the oldest circulating membership library in New York.

CAPT. Deborah Ann Hinkley, M.D. USN (RET) ’79 retired from the U.S. Navy after thirty years of active service as a medical officer and flight surgeon. Diana Tumielewicz Indelicato ’73 is enjoying being retired. She lives in Albertson, NY with her husband, Richard. Diana has two children and five grandchildren.

Mary Elizabeth Beecher Koniarski ’73 and her husband, James, both retired in June of 2017 and moved from East Northport, NY to Lords Valley, PA. Marybeth’s oldest daughter, Sarah, got married and graduated from Physician Assistant school.
