SPRING 2018 Dear Alumnae, Parents and Friends, I am happy to write to you again at the close of another exciting academic year on “THE Hill”. I am delighted to report that contributions to TMLA during the 2016-2017 fiscal year totaled over $800,000. In addition, our incoming freshwoman Class of 2022 is 27% larger than the graduating Class of 2018 . Mary Louis is alive and thriving! In this publication you will see not only the names of our generous donors, but also the remarkable achievements of “our girls”, both alumnae and current students. For over 80 years Mary Louis women have changed the world through their intelligence, passion, dedication and commitment to excellence. The world is truly a better place for having each of you in it. Your generosity over the 2016-2017 academic year has made possible so many enhancements and improvements at TMLA. We were able to install Triumph Board technology throughout our campus. This year also saw the launch of TMLA’s new collaboration with Columbia University’s School of Engineering and the 2018 Commencement Exercises saw the awarding of our first diplomas bearing designation in a special field of study. Some of the significant improvements which took place on our campus over the past year have included installation of enhanced security measures throughout our school buildings and campus.

In this ever changing world the safety and security of the young women entrusted to our care is of paramount importance, and your generosity has allowed us to ensure this. This summer will also see additional renovation work in the former Convent building to facilitate TMLA’s continued expansion. TMLA remains committed to being an integral part of the lives of our alumnae and your families. To this end we have instituted several new events and opportunities for our alumnae to become reacquainted and involved in the life of TMLA today. You can find information about many of these exciting new ventures in the pages of this magazine. The empowerment of young women is at the core of our very existence…through your unfailing generosity and support you help us show the world that our mission is as relevant today as ever before. statue specifically for the St. Joseph Shrine she had planned in the magnificent Chapel that was being constructed to her specifications. The Chapel was

completed in time to celebrate Easter of 1930 with this gift to Mother Mary Louis proudly in place.

Alumnae FALL HAMPTONS RETREAT The sixth TMLA Alumnae Hamptons Retreat will take place the weekend of September 21- September 23, 2018 at St. Joseph Villa, the Sisters of St. Joseph’s waterfront retreat in the Hamptons. St. Joseph Villa is situated on 8 lush acres atop a bluff overlooking Shinnecock Bay. The Villa has 5 buildings providing lovely accommodations along with a chapel, private beach and is just a short 5 minute ride away from the center of town.

Retreat will run from 11am on Friday, September 21 to 11am on Sunday, September 23 You can register to attend one or both days. Cost $120 per night all inclusive of meals and accommodation. Some activites will include an additional materials fee. Details available on the registration site.

KEY NOTE ADDRESS “ AS YOU GO ON TO COLLEGE, AND TO LIVE YOUR LIVES, FEEL SECURE THAT YOU’VE LEARNED AT MARY LOUIS WHAT YOU NEED TO THRIVE AND BE HAPPY. “ - JUSTICE SALIANN SCARPULLA ’79 JUSTICE OF THE NEW YORK SUPREME COURT

Good morning and congratulations. What a wonderful group of talented and well-prepared young women I see before me. And, in a few minutes, you will join a very special and select group, of which I am proudly a member – women who have graduated from The Mary Louis Academy.

My name is Saliann Scarpulla. I graduated from Mary Louis in 1979. Today, just a few short years later, I sit as a Justice on the Supreme Court of the State of New York. Other graduates of Mary Louis have gone on to succeed in so many fields - law, medicine, business, teaching, the arts, music, social work and social policy, to name a few. I’m confident that you, the class of 2017, will find your place in this world, as have the Mary Louis graduates before you. We Mary Louis graduates have a special bond. We’ve gone to a high school that has a well-deserved reputation for academic excellence, inclusiveness, and commitment to its students. Like some of you, I come from a family of immigrants. My grandparents were poor and did not speak English when they emigrated to the United States. My dad dropped out of school at age 12 to help support his family. Growing up, I lived in a neighborhood where not many people went to college. For me, like maybe some of you, going to Mary Louis was a game changer. At Mary Louis, I met young women from all different backgrounds and levels of income. In that beautiful campus off Hillside Avenue we were taught everything from how to titrate an unknown solution

to how to drive a car. The academics were rigorous. We took European Literature, Calculus and Organic Chemistry. In fact, one of my toughest teachers at Mary Louis is sitting right on this stage. Your principal, Sister Kathleen McKinney, was my 11th grade physics teacher. She was fierce, smart and demanding of her students, but in the nicest possible way! And I hear that she hasn’t changed. And while the academics at Mary Louis were, and are still, first rate, the most meaningful things I learned were not contained in a formula or a book passage. At Mary Louis, the students were, and are, taught to be ourselves, whoever that is – to learn with passion, and to live our lives with humanity and compassion. Those lessons have been the backbone of my being and they will be the backbone of yours too. As you go on to college, and to live your lives, feel secure that you’ve learned at Mary Louis what you need to thrive and be happy. Lastly, women of the Class of 2017, you are so lucky to have met each other and formed friendships here that will last you a lifetime. The friends I made at Mary Louis are still some of my closest friends. And almost every week, I meet someone who went to Mary Louis, or whose child is a student here. Feel secure that you now have a worldwide network of Mary Louis people upon whom you can rely for assistance and companionship. Mary Louis Class of 2017, your sister graduates, past and present, are, and always will be, with you and rooting for you. Congratulations again and God bless you.

VALEDICTORIAN’S ADDRESS JANET IS CURRENTLY STUDYING MOLECULAR BIOLOGY & NEUROSCIENCE AT PRINCETON UNIVERSITY. In a matter of four short years, we have been transformed from girls to women. And if you don’t know the change I’m talking about, just take a look at your student ID picture from freshmen year, for example.

Good Morning Sister Kathleen McKinney, Mrs. Ann Cordes, Mrs. Jeanne Altenau, Honorable Saliann Scarpulla, Ms. Kathleen Christman, Mrs. Maria Venturino, Members of the Faculty, Family, Friends, and members of the Class of 2017. Today, in just a matter of minutes, the Class of 2017 will walk across this stage and be presented with diplomas as a token of all their hard work and dedication during the past four years. Yet as we await this moment, we must remember that we did not get to this day on our own. Thank you to our teachers for all your efforts so that we could be sitting here today in our caps and gowns. We sincerely appreciate your coming in early in the morning, giving up your lunches, and staying after school to help us when we were stuck and reassure us when we started to doubt ourselves.

This class has been an outstanding class. We accumulated over 44 million dollars in scholarship money. In our years at Mary Louis, we donated more than 100,000 hours in volunteer initiatives, pulled off multiple surprise parties, won Spirit Week twice in a row. Our distinguished athletic programs brought home state and local championships. Our phenomenal art students earned gold key scholastic awards, and our various student organizations like The Mariel outdid themselves in representing our school. Our culture clubs put together a gorgeous Cultural Harmony event. Our Speech and Debate team flourished in winning countless awards on a national, state and local level. Yet our journey at The Mary Louis Academy was not without obstacles. We survived blizzards, a research paper that gave everybody sleep deprivation, tests, Edline and perhaps most impressively- the Common Core. It is this resilience that gives me complete faith that every single one of the Class of 2017 is off to do great things. I believe that this room contains the most renowned doctors, the greatest nurses, the leading lawyers, the most successful CEOs. And for those who don’t know what they want to do yet, I’m sure they’ll be the best at whatever they decide to do. With our resilience and dedication, we can amount to just about anything. We hold the key to making this world a better place.

Thank you to the administration for all that you have done to ensure us the best educational experience at The Mary Louis Academy. Thank you to Mr.Cherry for saying good morning to us every single morning to start our day off on a good note. And last but not least, thank you to our parents and families for dealing with our craziness and late nights, for listening to us when we complained, for supporting and loving us throughout everything.

I know I speak for each one of us today who would like to thank the Class of 2017 – my sisters - for being so welcoming and friendly -for being so helpful when one of us struggled - for being so positive and supportive when we doubted ourselves. We would not be here without the special character of this Class of 2017.

Class, we made it! Think about how far we have come, individually and as a class. Looking back to freshmen year, it seems like it was just yesterday. There was the first orientation, the first class, the first scantron. Now look at us, we may still make mistakes on our scantrons, but we have definitely matured physically and intellectually.

And before we go on with the rest of our lives, I would just like to reiterate what Ms. Christman always says to us: “Remember to find joy in your lives” because you deserve nothing less than absolute happiness.

I have so many reasons to support my alma mater. After spending many years in the work force in various business environments, I can easily tell which employees had a strong, solid, meaningful education and which ones did not. If I had a daughter, I would wish for her to attend TMLA. I enjoy seeing the Facebook posts from friends who are still involved with TMLA because their daughters are currently attending. We had great teachers, a great learning environment, and at the core, a shared faith that also unfortunately is lacking in much of the younger generation. I don’t believe I appreciated at the time how important growing up in a faithful and religious community could be, but I surely now appreciate the effort that first my parents, then TMLA, put into ensuring I was surrounded and engaged by the love of the Lord. Have you ever wanted to make a larger gift but it’s just too much to do at one time? Have you ever intended to make your gift to TMLA but simply forgot to send it in? You might be interested in our Sustainer Donor program. When you become a Sustainer Donor you provide TMLA with your credit or debit card information and authorize us to deduct an amount of your choosing each month.

In this way some alumnae have found that by having $10 a month automatically deducted turned into a yearly gift of $120. Having $100 a month deducted turns into a yearly gift of $1,200…13% of a full year’s tuition! This unique form of generosity also helps to provide TMLA with a continual stream of revenue we can rely on when planning and implementing new advancements and programs! CELEBRATING MRS. LILLIAN CALLANAN’S 95TH One of the many projects which your generous donations helped TMLA achieve was the purchase and installation of TRIUMPH Boards in every classroom, laboratory and resource center in each building throughout our campus. TRIUMPH Boards are interactive flat panels that meet our students’ ever-evolving needs and will enable them to perform at the next level! This latest advance in technology will allow our students to interact directly with their teachers and become "part of " the lesson via their TMLA issued iPad’s. The TRIUMPH Board slogan "One Idea Ahead" is so perfectly suited to TMLA’s pedagogical practices for more than 80 years. KATHLEEN M. COMERFORD, PH.D. ’84 PUBLISHES NEW BOOK Kathleen M. Comerford, Ph.D. ’84 published a new book Jesuit Foundations and Medici Power, 1532-1621. This work focuses on the cooperation between the last Medici state and the Society of Jesus, spanning nearly a century, concentrating on the Jesuit foundations in Florence, Siena, and Montepulciano. As the Medici built and centralized their power in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, they sought to control both the civic and religious behavior of their citizens. MARIEL AFTER & 2017 ANNUAL REPORT

They found partners in the Jesuits, whose educational program helped to establish social order and maintain religious orthodoxy. Via a detailed investigation of both minor and major Italian Jesuit colleges, and of multiple Medici rulers, Kathleen provides insight into church/state cooperation in an age in which both institutions underwent significant changes.

Patricia M. Hynes, Esq ’59 Scholarship Patricia Hynes ’59 credits her time on The Mary Louis Academy debate team with helping her make the decision to go on to law school and pursue a very successful career as a trial lawyer and President of the New York City Bar Association. Pat initially established this scholarship fund through a very generous donation. This scholarship is awarded annually to a student on TMLA’s Speech & Debate Team with the highest G.P.A.

Susan James Kropf ’66 Scholarship The Susan James Kropf Scholarship was established in honor of Susan upon her retirement from her position as President and Chief Operating Officer of Avon Products. The scholarship fund was initially endowed through generous donations from Avon. This Scholarship is awarded annually to a student who wishes to pursue a career in the field of Business.

Katherine Conway Maguire ’71 Memorial Scholarship The Katherine Conway Maguire Scholarship is funded through donations made in memory of Kathy, who passed away in 2007. Kathy devoted her life’s work to the field of nursing and was passionate about caring for the sick and those in need. This scholarship is awarded annually to a student with the highest G.P.A. who wishes to pursue a career in the field of Nursing.

Geraldine Reynolds McDonnell ’57 Memorial Scholarship The Geraldine Reynolds McDonnell Scholarship is funded through donations made in memory of Gerri, who passed away in 2008. Gerri was long time Secretary of TMLA’s Alumnae Association. This 4 year scholarship is awarded to a Catholic student who scores in the 80th percentile or above, exhibits community involvement and whose family demonstrates economic need.

Margaret Howard Reilly ’64 Memorial Scholarship The Margaret Howard Reilly Scholarship is funded through donations made in memory of Margaret, who passed away in 2011. In the final days of her life, Margaret and her family worked tirelessly to establish this scholarship at TMLA. Margaret’s mother was a single parent in the field of law enforcement, who worked very hard to provide her daughter with a Mary Louis education. Margaret wished to provide this scholarship to a young woman from a similar background. This 4 year scholarship is awarded to a student from a single parent home who attains admission and exhibits economic need.

Class of 1962 Scholarship Fund The Class of 1962 Scholarship was endowed through donations made by members of the Class of ’62 in honor of their 40th Anniversary of graduation from TMLA. Dr. Jane Spaulding Bowling ’60 Memorial Scholarship The Dr. Jane Spaulding Bowling Scholarship is funded through generous donations made in memory of Jane, who passed away in 2016. Jane devoted her life to the field of social work and helping those who were most in need. Jane’s family felt that two of the constants throughout her life were the sense of empowerment instilled in her at TMLA and the abiding friendships she made with her TMLA “sisters”; for that reason Jane’s family and friends decided to establish this scholarship so as to provide that same life changing TMLA experience to the young women of today and tomorrow. This 4 year scholarship is awarded to a student who attains admission and whose family exhibits the greatest financial need.

Elizabeth Allen Brennan ’67 Memorial Scholarship The Elizabeth Allen Brennan Scholarship is funded through generous donations made in memory of Betty, who passed away in 2013. Betty was always very proud to be a graduate of TMLA and devoted her life’s work to the field of nursing. This scholarship will be awarded annually to a student with a G.P.A. of B+ or higher who wishes to pursue a career in the field of medicine and who exhibits economic need.

August & Nora Eberhardt Memorial Scholarship The August & Nora Eberhardt Scholarship was endowed through a very generous donation to TMLA from their daughter Nora Eberhardt Quigley ’46. Nora has always credited TMLA with her success as a lifelong educator, and she remains grateful for all the sacrifices her parents made in order to send her to Mary Louis. This 4 year scholarship is awarded to a young woman who provides service to her community, is an “average” student and whose family exhibits economic need.

Audrey Prager MacLean ’46 Vocal Scholar Award The Audrey Prager MacLean Award was established in 2014 by a very generous donation from her family. Audrey graduated from TMLA in 1946 and went on to train as an opera singer at the Metropolitan Opera. This 3 year award is given to a Music Major who demonstrates extraordinary vocal potential. The recipient receives formal vocal coaching once a cycle and attends a performance at the Met once a year.

Gilbert Mora Memorial Music Scholarship The Gilbert Mora Scholarship was established in memory of Mr. Gilbert Mora, a faculty member in TMLA’s Department of Music for 16 years. The scholarship is awarded annually to a Music Major with the highest G.P.A.

Mary C. Gyves Memorial Scholarship The Mary C. Gyves Memorial Scholarship Fund was endowed through generous donations made in memory of Mary, who passed away in 2012. Mary was the proud mother of two TMLA alumnae and overcame significant physical challenges in her own life. This scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has overcome a physical challenge or serious illness.

IS CURRENTLY VOLUNTEERING IN THE PEACE CORPS, ALMOST A YEAR IN TO HER TWO AND A HALF YEAR JOURNEY OF SERVICE AND DISCOVERY. WE’VE BEEN FOLLOWING HER POWERFUL EXPERIENCE ON HER BLOG, AND IT IS INSPIRING TO READ HER ANALYSIS OF THE DAY TO DAY LIFE IN ECUADOR, AND HOW ARIELLE RELATES IT TO HER FUTURE CAREER, HER LIFE, HER FAITH, AND THE WORLD AT LARGE.

The work she is doing in the Peace Corps working for the Ecuadorian Ministry of Public Health has a focus on healthy living through sustainability. Arielle earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Howard University in 2010, and her Masters in Sustainable Engineering from Villanova University in 2013. Before making the decision to enter the Peace Corps, she worked for the Dow Chemical Company as an engineer, working on a sustainability initiative at two of the company’s plants involving potable water supply and storage. When mentioning that she was on TMLA’s Speech and Debate Team, Arielle spoke both of her need to develop a specific language set to ensure her success in her profession, but also the importance of the use of accessible language to make sure you’re understood. It is clear that Arielle has an awareness of intersectionality that we can all benefit from. “We can answer more questions if everyone is at the table,” she shared passionately. That spirit of all-inclusiveness is one we certainly foster and celebrate here in the TMLA community.

A storyline in the movie Hidden Figures (a new favorite of Arielle’s), where Katherine Johnson is continually running across campus to a building that has a restroom for black women, resonated with Arielle’s college experience. In this day and age, there is still just one bathroom for women in Howard University’s engineering building. There is clearly some advocacy work still to be done, and serving as Chairperson for the National Society of Black Engineers Regional Leadership Conference, as a counselor and teacher in afterschool and discovery programs, and now in the Peace Corps, we know that Arielle is tying that advocacy into her work both at home and worldwide. Having grown both professionally and personally, Arielle now looks back with the understanding that it’s ok not to know your voice when you’re entering high school. She spent a long time on the sidelines, but she does not feel like she was held back by it, because TMLA was a safe space, and Arielle knew that as soon as she was ready, she could use her voice. At another school, she might have been invisible, but here at TMLA, she was recognized and was not derailed or deterred while becoming comfortable with what she had to say. She has gained a unique insight in how to work with people through her experience. And she does have a unique insight; in a recent blog post, she shares, “these days, before I make my biggest decisions, I ask if what I’m doing adds beauty to the world, or just myself.” We are so proud of Arielle, and are excited to see what is next for her!

TMLA’S ALUMNAE MENTORING PROGRAM TMLA’S Alumnae Mentoring Program offers “our girls” the opportunity to tap into an asset that is unique to The Mary Louis Academy, our incomparable alumnae. Over 80 years TMLA has established a broad network of women alumnae in virtually every field, discipline and career. TMLA CONTINUALLY STRIVES TO IMPLEMENT NEW AND INNOVATIVE WAYS OF PROVIDING OUR STUDENTS WITH EVERY TOOL NEEDED TO SUCCEED IN LIFE. One of TMLA’s newest endeavors is our Annual Alumnae College Fair held each December.

This unique college fair is open to all grade levels and provides our students with the opportunity to meet with an alumna who is currently attending the college of her choice. This is a truly wonderful chance for our young women to receive solid, trustworthy information on what each school is “really” like. PRE-MED PROGRAM STUDENTS VISIT LENOX HILL HOSPITAL

Students from TMLA’s new Pre-Med Program were invited to visit Lenox Hill Hospital and tour their Physician Assistant program. During their visit to Lenox Hill, our young women learned how to take blood pressure and perform an ultrasound, and experienced a simulated medical emergency using a dummy – better known as Mr. Sim. They also learned about the history of the PA profession, which is now in its 50th year.

JOAN CAVANAGH ’71 RECEIVES DOCTORATE IN EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP Congratulations to one of “our girls”, Joan Cavanagh, Ph.D. ’71, on the conferral of her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Fordham University. Dr. Cavanagh serves as Director of Campus Ministry for Fordham University’s Westchester Campus. In this position Joan offers a warm and trusting welcome to all, a "home away from home" where students, faculty, and staff can always find a listening ear and understanding heart. Besides fulfilling particular responsibilities of maintaining and administering Fordham’s Chapel/worship space, Joan guides the Campus Ministry Office to provide pastoral counseling and spiritual direction upon request, worship in the community, teaching, organizing, offering support groups, responding to emergencies, and serves on University committees and as an academic adviser. In so doing, Joan helps to heighten the community’s awareness of God at work in our midst, and to dispose that same community to allow God’s Spirit to enliven us and bring to fruition our shared goals. Joan’s wonderful efforts at Fordham have helped to engage students and the broader Fordham community in education through service for a just and equitable world. Under Joan’s leadership the office of Campus Ministry is committed to collaboration with community partners and to involvement with people who are marginalized, especially those who are materially poor. Joan’s work is truly inspired by, and flows from, the Jesuit Catholic educational mission at Fordham University that calls for a dynamic integration of academic excellence, social responsibility, and faith that serves justice…a mission that so closely parallels TMLA’s own. KICKING OFF TMLA’S FLORIDA ALUMNAE CHAPTER

In 1991 Stephanie DeNicola Turner ’95 & Maya Perez Varona ’95, met in Mrs. McGrath’s freshman English class at TMLA. In 2017 the friendship which sparked over 20 years ago became a light in the darkness for Maya, her husband and their 4 children, as they evacuated their home in Cocoa Beach, FL in advance of Hurricane Irma making landfall. With nowhere to turn, seemingly running for their lives, the Varona Family found a safe haven in Charlottesville, VA in the home of Stephanie and her family. When asked what inspired her to offer shelter to her classmate in her time of need Stephanie simply said “Hilltoppers forever!” We are so proud of “our girls”!

On Saturday, March 25, 2017 nine TMLA alumnae gathered for lunch at the Waterfront Inn in The Villages, Florida to kick off the beginning of The Mary Louis Academy’s Florida Alumnae Chapter! It was a wonderful event as these “sisters” were thrilled to get together and share memories of their time at Mary Louis. They brought yearbooks, uniforms and a great enthusiasm! Each attendee received a gift bag containing a TMLA t-shirt, sunglasses, paperweight and the latest edition of the Mariel newspaper. The President of TMLA’s Florida Alumnae Chapter, Eileen Connolly ’75, provided them with an update on the new programs/ facility updates at TMLA.... and each woman went around to discuss where they came from and what they loved most about TMLA. The group spent almost three hours together, with many eager requests to schedule another event. In addition, one of the alumnae in attendance performs with a vocal group in The Villages and invited her TMLA “sisters” to a future performance.

SISTER JUDITH BURCHYNS WE AT TMLA MOURN THE PASSING OF ONE OF "OUR GIRLS", SISTER JUDITH BURCHYNS CSJ - TMLA CLASS OF 1957. SISTER JUDY WAS A TRUE EDUCATOR IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD. AFTER GRADUATING FROM TMLA SISTER JUDY EARNED A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN ELEMENTARY EDUCATION AS WELL AS TWO MASTER’S DEGREES; ONE IN ADMINISTRATION AND SUPERVISION AND THE SECOND IN ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE.

Sister Judy taught elementary school children at Visitation School in Brooklyn, St. Teresa of Avila School in South Ozone Park, Saints Peter & Paul School in Brooklyn and Colegio Santa Teresita in Ponce, Puerto Rico. After a 10 year career as a teacher Sister Judy made the move to administration, ultimately being chosen to serve as Principal of 5 different elementary schools; Colegio San Jose in San German, PR; Saints Cyril & Methodius School in Deer Park, NY; Academia San Ignacio in Rio Piedras, PR; St. John of God School and Our Lady of Providence Regional School, both in Central Islip, NY. In 1998 Sister Judy was appointed to serve as Principal of our CSJ "sister school", Academia Maria Reina in Ponce, PR. Sister Judy served in that position from 1998-2011 when she was appointed the Academy’s first President - a position she held until her retirement this past June. In addition to her administrative roles at Academia Maria Reina, Sister Judy was also chosen to serve as the Sisters of St. Joseph’s Vicar for Puerto Rico from 2011 - 2016: a ministry first begun by the Sisters under the auspices of our founder, Mother Mary Louis herself.

TMLA Women in Engineering Week is an intensive week long experience designed to inspire young women to explore many fields of engineering – Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Biomedical, Electrical, Chemical, Computer, Software and Environmental. TMLA’s program is open to young women who are entering the 8th Grade and our incoming class of freshwomen.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Engineers help shape the future. Engineering unleashes the spirit of innovation. Engineers constantly discover ways to improve our lives. According to the National Science Foundation, only 11% of women in the United States are employed as engineers, this is a dismal statistic which TMLA has set out to improve. We hope to foster participants’ natural curiosity, to encourage, motivate and enlighten young women to the possibilities and rewards one can find in the field of engineering and to develop the spirit of innovation needed to engage with the many challenges of our time.

Arlene Meier Bigelow ’48 is still enjoying active life at eighty-seven years old! She has three children, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a dog and cat. Constance Esposito Goodwin ’48 is working as a real estate agent. Her husband, Col. James Goodwin, passed away in 1999. Up until her husband’s illness, Connie had a successful interior design business. G. Jean Campbell Horan ’48 was married to her husband, Donald, for sixty-three years before his passing in 2014. Jean has four children and nine grandchildren. She now lives in South Setauket. Irene McGoldrick Hughes ’49 is eightysix years old and continues to be proud of her wonderful education at TMLA! Irene is proudly still going strong! Virginia Ledden Kastner ’49 moved from Michigan to Omaha, Nebraska to live near her daughter. S. Grace A.P. Keavney CSJ ’43 upon graduating from TMLA, entered the Congregation of St. Joseph, therefore, she is celebrating a double Jubilee. This year is both her 75th reunion and her 75th Jubilee as a Sister of St. Joseph! Presently, she is volunteering at Maria Regina Residence, the CSJ nursing home in Brentwood, NY, and she continues to celebrate the gift of each day! S. Mary Kenneth (Mary Elizabeth) Lane CSJ ’44 lives in Sacred Heart Convent, an Assisted Living Convent next door to Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead, NY. S. Mary Kenneth celebrated her ninety-first birthday in July of 2017! Jacqueline Reynolds Bohack ’58 recently retired as a Dental Hygienist. Jackie and her husband have three children and ten grandchildren. Their granddaughter, Natasha, joined TMLA as a freshwoman in the fall of 2017! Mary Jane Coyne McClintock ’48 has been married to Charles for sixty-five years. They moved to Fredricksburg, Virginia in 1953. Her husband was a 1st Lieutenant in USMC for three years, they moved to Los Angeles, California. They have one daughter, Carol, and both Mary Jane and Charles are still active at eighty-eight years old! Agnes “Pat” Kelly Mensel ’47 mourns the passing of her classmate and dear friend Joan Howell Ryan ’47, who passed away in 2016. Sheen presiding at the Class of 1947’s Graduation Mass and what a thrill it was! Helen Carroll Philbin ’48 and her husband, Patrick, are still enjoying life in sunny Florida. God is good to them. Helen recently retired as president of their condo association, and now she plays mahjong, knits, and volunteers. Alice M. Timothy, Ph.D. (ABD) ’49 retired in 1997 as Assistant Principal for Supervision, Speech & Music at Brooklyn Technical High School. Alice worked at Brooklyn Tech for twenty-five years founding both their Musical Theatre troupe and their Debate Team. Alice is now happily enjoying retirement in Columbia County, situated in New York’s Hudson Valley.

Clare Marie Cawley Buwen ’59 is a retired accountant living in Coeur d’Alene, ID. She enjoys her daughter and two grandsons, ages ten and twelve. Patricia Gruebnau Colgan ’52 has been married to Edward J. Colgan for sixty-one years. They have one great-granddaughter. Carol Gillen Costello ’57 Accel missed the 60th Reunion due to a wedding. Carol has very fond memories of TMLA and feels that she was "one of the lucky ones" able to attend such a fine school. Carol is happy in her retirement traveling and volunteering on several Boards for organizations. Elizabeth Greaves Crawford, Ph.D. ’59 and her husband, Christopher, moved to Virginia in 2001 to be near their grandchildren. They now enjoy time with seven of them, ages twenty to five years old. Elizabeth keeps busy as a Literacy Volunteer and member of the Lifelong Learning Institute - Manassas, where she serves on the Program Committee, which plans classes and social events for seniors. Charley abruptly changed direction and they received a direct hit! Prior to Irma, a mandatory evacuation was declared in their area. Fortunately, upon returning home, Terry found only minor local damage, so they continue to enjoy life in P.G.I. She serves as Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Church and also Minister at her local hospital... between hurricanes! Eileen O’Leary Grubb ’63 has been happily married to Bill Grubb for almost fifty-four years. They have thirteen grandchildren. Their oldest granddaughter will graduate from Berkeley and their second eldest granddaughter is a junior at the University of Southern California. They have two grandsons who are freshmen at San Diego State University and Mira Costa College, three granddaughters in high school, and five in grade school. Eileen and Bill love traveling and living in Pawleys Island, SC! Eileen Stenger Haggerty ’54 and her husband, Bert, have been married for fifty-six years. They have three sons and daughtersin-law as well as nine grandchildren (two in college, five in high school and two in middle school).

Mary Louise Burns D’Aguanno ’58 designs jewelry and paints. She exercises every morning for one-hour in the pool of her apartment complex. MaryLou loves thrift shopping, but misses the beach! Her days at TMLA were filled with happy memories and she feels blessed to have been a part of it all! Her teachers made an impact on her life and her objectives thereof.

Christine Hamilton Hanley ’53 recently retired from the finance division of Macy’s. Her husband, Thomas, passed away in August of 2017.

Theresa Berny Gressert ’53 following her retirement as Chief Nursing Officer at a Long Island Hospital and her husband, Joe’s retirement from the NYPD, they moved to Punta Gorda Isles, FL, in 1990. It has been a wonderful twenty-nine years, except for August 2004 when Hurricane Harvey visited, and this past September, when Hurricane Irma dropped by. Maureen Lambert Manning ’58 has been living in Milwaukee, WI since 1983. Her six children have blessed them with twelve grandsons and three granddaughters. June Schmidt Metzner ’50 and her husband, Joe, have been married for sixty years! They have five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. June taught 1st grade until she stayed home with her children. Her husband Joe is a retired Battalion Chief with the FDNY. Jean Dunn Misner ’58 is a retired programmer from IBM and a retired math teacher. She lives in Gardiner, NY for six months and Fort Myers Beach, FL the rest of the year. She and her husband Andrew have six children, fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandsons! Mary McNichol Nolan ’51 and her husband, Warren, attended the graduation of their granddaughter, Maggie, who lives in Maine. Maggie was Valedictorian of her high school class and will be attending Yale University.

Maureen Brady Scott ’50 finds it hard to believe that she has been out of TMLA for over sixty-eight years! Maureen still keeps in touch with her classmate Mary Ellen Lucey Rowan ’50. Maureen and Mary Ellen are both widowed now and have each lost a son to illness. Maureen misses her dear sister, Rosemary Brady King ’51, who passed away in 2011.

Carol Kloss Traynor ’54 is happy to announce that her family is still growing as her fifth great-grandchild arrived in 2016. This makes three girls and two boys. Carol’s grandson, Jeff, is a Navy pilot who will be retiring from the U.S. Navy in July of 2017. Her granddaughter, Jackie, is starting her third year in medical school at the University of Virginia with a concentration in urology. Carol’s son, Kevin, and family are coming home after four long years living in Saudi Arabia.

Lenora McCabe Small ’58 lives in Sun City Hilton Head at Bluffton, SC. She has been working with certified therapy dogs for twentyeight years, as well as volunteer work.

Anna Maria Azzara ’68 retired five years ago from healthcare and employee benefit consulting. She and her husband divide their time between Long Island and North Hutchinson Island, FL. They love to travel, spend time with family and friends and most of all, be with their children and wonderful grandchildren. Anna Maria is blessed! Johanna Grunewald Beedenbender ’60 is proud to announce that her granddaughter, Cassandra, attends the University of Notre Dame. During the summer of 2017 Cassandra studied Arabic in Jordan on a grant from Notre Dame. Kathleen Rowland Bondhus ’68 is a happily retired educator from the NYC Department of Education. Forty plus years of teaching afforded her great satisfaction, both as a middle school teacher of Humanities and a Literacy Coach and Staff Developer. Retirement has

given Kathie the opportunity to pursue her passions of travel, history, antiques and music; she still loves singing and Broadway. Her daughter, Karaline, and son-in-law, Paul, have blessed Kathie with her greatest treasures, her grandchildren - Chase and Eva Leigh. Living at the beach (for over forty-five years) still brings her great pleasure. You know what they say about 'sand in your shoes.' It’s hard for her to believe it has been fifty years since TMLA, but enjoys the memories fondly, and sends her regards to her classmates! Marie Fonderico Block ’68 has been teaching mathematics at various levels. She retired twice but returned to teaching after her husband passed away. She wishes she could have attended the reunion, but the timing wasn’t good! Patricia Carnicelli Bragoli ’68 is retired from the South Country School District. Pat is married to John, her TMLA Senior Prom date. They have three children, all married, and five grandchildren, with another due in June. Mary Burke ’63 walked the French route of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in 2016 and will walk the Portuguese route in October 2018.

Marylyn Tobin Varriale ’53 is a writer, composer, and educator. Her musical play, "Evangeline, a Curious Journey," had a staged reading at the Davenport Theatre on March 23rd in NYC. Maureen Marlow Wicks ’51 and her husband, Harry, have ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. They recently moved to be nearer one of their sons and closer to their other children living on Long Island. Maureen and Harry are now in Port Jefferson, NY and are happy in "smaller quarters" with lovely new neighbors.

She has been living in the Tampa Bay area since 1983. Claire has a son in Florida and a daughter living in Manhattan. Nancy Gorevin Costello ’67 feels that the world needs more women leaders, especially those educated and formed at The Mary Louis Academy. Maureen Counihan ’68 has been employed by the government for over thirty-eight years. She is an active member of her community, and has traveled to many countries all over the world. Maureen will be going to Greece this summer. She belongs to Gold’s Gym, where she works out and takes weekly classes. Maureen sees many Broadway play and dines out in many NY restaurants. Jacqueline Errico ’68 recently retired. Her organization, Strength for Life, provides free exercise classes and wellness retreats for cancer patients and survivors. Jacqueline feels that starting this non-profit has been her most important success.

Barbara Harmatiuk ’68 lost her husband, Richard Trainer, in February of 2017 from Multiple Myeloma. Her son recently graduated from law school and is currently looking for a position. Barbara is still teaching Music at PS 17 in Brooklyn. Margaret Moore Katkocin ’68 is married and has four sons. Margaret received her BSN from Molloy College in 1972 and her MAED from Columbia in 1977. After a forty-five year nursing career, she served as her town's First Selectman for two terms, and is currently Chair of the Board of Ed in the Connecticut town where she has lived for the past thirty-five years. Barbara Denk Kolesar ’65 retired to North Carolina in 2006 after teaching Middle School English for thirty years. She has two daughters and four grandchildren. Diane Manta Lynch ’64 and her husband, John, report with deep sorrow the death of their first son, Joseph A. Lynch, on March 22, 2017. Pauline Seymour Mattes ’60 arrived in Rome on November 1, 2017, and went directly to the Vatican. By some miracle Pauline was one of a few hundred people to attend a Mass celebrated by Pope Francis in the little chapel behind the main altar of St. Peter’s Basilica. It was All Saints Day and remains an event Pauline will never forget. Linda Suarez McDermott ’68 is sorry to have missed the reunion, but a hip replacement procedure kept her sidelined. Linda’s husband, grandchildren, dancing, hiking, swimming, and frequent visits to hospitals and schools with her therapy dog, Belle, fill her days with joy! Janet Thurkow Micari ’68 and her husband, Joseph have been living in Clifton, VA, a suburb of Washington, DC for twenty-nine years. Janet and Joseph have been married forty-four years and are blessed to have a wonderful son Jason, and his wife Kris. They have been blessed with their first grandson, Theo! They just celebrated his first birthday, and he is an absolute joy...nothing better! Janet is now retired and is enjoying family, friends, travel and more, but she feels that the best thing of all is being a Nonni (grandma)! Mary Belsky Monaco ’63 retired from the NYS Public Service Department as a policy and rate analyst in 2012. After retirement, she has become a Master Gardener through the Cornell Cooperative Extension, and she is involved with animal rescue. Irene is looking forward to retirement in May 2019. Patricia McLaughlin Pagano ’68 has been married for forty-five years to Gary. They have two children, Victoria and Michale. Patricia Leuzzi Polak ’63 has published a new book of poetry entitled, Manhattan Melody. Tricia gifted copies of her book to the TMLA Library and also included Sister Dorothy Mercedes among the acknowledgments! Adrienne Perrotti Scott ’68 lives in NJ, and retired after forty-two years with AT&T. Adrienne plans to travel, improve her golf and tennis games, and enjoy her newly adopted golden retriever who will be certified as a therapy dog! Joyce Zakierski Simmons ’66 was Guest Curator for "Faux and Fabulous: 100 Years of Vintage Costume Jewelry" an exhibit in the spring of 2016 at the Sparta Historical Society Museum. Joyce is also a Trustee of the SHS and plans educational programs for them. Some alumnae may also remember Joyce from her time as Chairperson of TMLA’s Department of Music (1981-1991). Linda Pisano Bonventre ’73 is the president of Woltmann & Bonventre, Inc., a custom house broker. Linda’s son, Stephen and daughter-in-law Laura, gave her a first grandchild, Nicholas Stephen Bonventre, in June of 2017. Her daughter Jaime married Kevin Paczkowski in September of 2017. Linda has been married to Joe for forty years! Suzette Bianchi Casabianca ’73 is teaching Language Arts and learning disabled and/or emotionally-behaviorally disordered middle school students in New Port Richey, Florida. She just became a Certified Divorce Mediator and expects to add that aspect of family service to her practice shortly. Amparo Diaz Connors ’78 celebrated her thirty-fifth wedding anniversary in 2017 with Jeff, her high school sweetheart. Jeff retired two years ago from CUNY. She does her best to support her musician husband who is still performing, a working daughter and son-in-law, and two fantastic grandsons with their school, baseball, basketball and fishing. As long as she can do yoga and get her hands on fabric for quilting, yarn for knitting, paper for drawing and can share it with friends, she is happy. Betty sends her best!

She has served as a Board Member of many organizations and is an annual participant in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. Amparo serves with TMLA’s Alumnae Association as a Class Rep for ’78. She shares the TMLA Alumnae sisterhood with her sisters, Leonor Diaz Falcone ’75, Esperanza Diaz ’81, Olga Diaz Reid ’83 and sister-in-law, Valerie Connors McCluskey ’90.

Dolores Murena Grant ’73 volunteered for the Disaster Emergency Medical Personnel System (DEMPS) and was assigned to a fourteen-day mission to serve as the Administrative Officer at the Federal Medical Station (FMS) in Manati, Puerto Rico. The FMS was set up in a sports stadium, and they had 40-50 admitted patients, and daily treated approximately 200 patients in triage. It was an honor for Dolores to serve and help the people of Puerto Rico!

Joan Miglino Goebel ’73 just retired as a high school math teacher from Edward R. Murrow HS. She has stepped up her traveling and is enjoying her family. She resides in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and is looking forward to seeing her classmates in 2023!

Michael, twentyfour, attended Wake Forest University, and is now living in Boston and working at ServiceNow. Marianne has worked at Punch Productions for thirty-two years.

Jean Marie Steingasser Kessel ’82 is very proud that her daughter, Caitlin Kessel ’16, made Dean’s List for Academic Honors at the College of Mount St. Vincent and also played NCAA Volleyball in her freshman year. Claudia Liem Kist, Esq. ’88 is sad to have missed her 30th reunion, and wonders where the time has gone! Claudia has relocated to Dallas with her husband and fifteen-year old twins. A year ago, she co-founded a content creation and casting company (www.upperwestsidemedia. com). They find real people stories for ad, marketing campaigns and documentaries. Claudia and her family are all happy and healthy. She wishes the same to all the ladies of ’88! Alice Monteverdi Mee ’89 is so excited that her niece, Veronica, is in her first year at TMLA. Veronica joins her sister Diana who is a current sophomore.

Jana Hsu ’98 sends her love to everyone, and is looking forward to making it to the next reunion. She is having her second child in Washington State!

Charlene Conley Tannenbaum ’73 is proud to announce that her son, Brian, became engaged during the 2016 holiday season. They are looking forward to a wedding in the summer of 2017! Linda Santoro Travis ’73 has been married to Robert for forty-two years and they are grandparents of six. In November 2017, Linda retired and sold Travis & Sons Plumbing. Linda has lived in Fountain Hills, AZ since May of 1977. Anne Savino Barracca ’80 is proud to announce that her son, Anthony, married Sarah Serpenti on July 7, 2016. They are both graduates of St. John’s University.

Chrysanthe Petras, M.D. ’83 regrets not being able to attend the reunion! She has been happily married to Peter Ninia for twelve years. Chrysanthe works as the Attending Physician in the Pediatric Emergency Department at NYU Winthrop Hospital. Karen Hoercher Ranieri ’88 has been married to Tom for thirteen years and they have two children. Karen is a writer, singer and gardener. Constance Sultana ’83 is enjoying her time with women as they prepare to give birth. She teaches childbirth classes and attends births as a doula. Connie lives in California with her husband. They have a twenty-year old boy at Boston University and a twelveyear old ballerina.

Elizabeth Gould Ippolito ’92 has been teaching for nineteen years in the NYC Department of Education. She is married to Jimmy, who is a NYC Firefighter, and they have two children, Grace and Joseph.

CLASS NOTES Noelle Karas ’93 works with university recruitment at Marriott International, Marriott Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda, MD. Noelle has taken up running as a hobby, and most recently has completed the Walt Disney World Marathon.

Virginia Monaco ’98 was married in 2014 to Dimitrios Stefanopoulos.

Olga Muniz Locke ’93 After an eight-year maternity leave, returned to her beloved teaching career and is presently at New Rochelle High School teaching 10th and 12th grade English. Olga and her husband, Sean, live in Chappaqua, NY with Jake, age nine and Alex, age seven.

Michelle Carroll Simonsen ’93 left the States in the year 2000 and moved to Sweden and began teaching. Michelle made it a goal to make it work living abroad and has not regretted her choice since. She loves teaching and although she found school quite difficult growing up, she has always made it a goal to help her students understand. Michelle now speaks Swedish (fluently) and lived abroad in New Zealand one year and taught there as well. Michelle and her family will never move permanently again as Sweden is their home, but the idea of traveling and teaching somewhere else (warmer) for a year is tempting.

Milena Bonilla-Guerra Markovic ’98 is proud to announce that hers is now a family of four with the birth of her daughter, Francesca, on February 9, 2016. Mom, Dad and big sister Marisa were thrilled to welcome her! Milena looks forward to Marisa and Francesca being future Hilltoppers!

Carmencita-Mia Fulgado Taylor, Esq. ’98 has been married since 2013 to Neil Taylor. They have a two-Year old son names Guy, and enjoy their time together in Holt, MI. Carmencita is an attorney with Chalgian & Tripp Law offices based in East Lansing, MI and practices in the areas of elder law, probate litigation, estate planning, and special needs planning. She loves the work and the opportunity to help others in need. Brianne Clark Young, DPT ’98 has been living in Rochester for the last fifteen years working as a physical therapist, primarily in home care. She was recently promoted to managing a nursing team for Lifetime Care. Brianne and her husband, Don, have two boys, Evan, age eleven and Kyle, age eight.

Caroline Callahan ’07 is now a Licensed Social Worker and Director of Admissions at Plaza College. Lisa Gailing ’05 was married in August of 2017. Lisa received her Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from St. John’s University and is currently serving as a Site Coordinator for the NYC Department of Education.

Maureen Gorman ’07 after returning to school for a change of career direction, recently graduated magna cum laude and is now a COTA/L. She is working with preschoolers in a facility in conjunction with the NYC Department of Education. Elyse Busch Haller ’05 and her husband, Steve, welcomed their daughter Abigail Marie on April 6, 2017. Hoping for a future TMLA girl! Nicole Choffel Hoffner ’08 is a Pre-K for all teacher for the Department of Education in College Point, NY. She has been teaching Pre-K for five years. Nicole married Daniel Hoffner in July of 2016.

Jennifer Flynn Limberg ’04 and her husband, JP, welcomed their first child, Rebecca Grace, on October 28, 2016. Jen looks forward to Rebecca becoming a third generation TMLA girl! Danielle Marino ’09 is proudly serving and protecting the City of New York as a Police Officer. She asks that we please keep her NYPD family in our prayers. Brittany Allen Pace ’09 works for AIG and was married on April 29, 2017. Her husband, Gary Pace, serves his country with the United States Marine Corps and works with Local 1 Plumbers. Erica Gailing ’10 earned her Master’s Degree in Viola from The Julliard School and spent the summer of 2017 at the Music Academy of the West in California. Melanie Gomez ’13 graduated from St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn and received her degree in Education. She is certified in birth to 6th grade General and Special Education as well as birth to 12th grade Bilingual Education. Melanie is now pursuing a Masters in Literacy at St. Joseph’s College. She is currently a 3rd grade Special Ed teacher with the Department of Education. Cecilia Hanson ’16 completed her first year of the Muse Honors Program at Hunter College of the City University of New York with a 3.6 GPA. Caitlin Kessel ’16 made Dean’s List for Academic Honors at the College of Mount St. Vincent while also playing NCAA Volleyball for the Mount during her freshman year. Katie Marrano ’13 moved to Hawaii in February of 2018. She has a full time job at Dolphin Quest Hawaii to work in her field of Zoology.

Cristina J. Martello ’13 graduated in May of 2017 from Sacred Heart University, magna cum laude with a B.S. in Exercise Science. Cristina is continuing her graduate studies towards her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Sofia Randazzo ’15 is a Biology major at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. Montana Rispoli ’13 graduated from Boston University, studied abroad in Sydney, Australia, and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. Montana has traveled to over twenty-five countries on five continents and is currently working for Fox Searchlight, which is nominated to twenty Oscars this year! Rachel Spampinato ’14 is an Architecture major on a scholarship at SUNY Old Westbury. Her parents continue to be grateful to TMLA for all our kindness and guidance. Ashley Torrenti ’16 received a 4.0 GPA in her first semester at Macaulay Honors College!

COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY’S OUTREACH TMLA is proud to announce our new collaboration with Columbia University School of Engineering. As part of TMLA’s Engineering Program Yocheved Ungar, from Columbia University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science, came to speak with our Engineering students. Yocheved gave an excellent presentation that extended the horizons of TMLA’s young women. Her topic of Spore-Based Engine Machines included a discussion about what spores are, how they harvest energy, what biophysics is, and the spore-based engine machines scientists are working with. Her presentation concluded with an understanding of what it takes to be a scientist. Yocheved also shared a little of her own academic background to help TMLA students who might be wondering about what path in science they will travel. Questions and observations from students in the audience during the presentation and afterward clearly indicated their interest in what Yocheved was explaining to them. TMLA’s students and faculty also visited Columbia University’s esteemed Fu Foundation for Engineering Sciences. Our group toured the Plasma Physics Lab where a professor who was a MacArthur Genius Award recipient discussed the use of plasma as an alternative energy source for future power plants to generate. We are so grateful for this extremely beneficial relationship with Columbia University which has been fostered and aided by our very own Sister Grace Avila and Dr. Melissa Dowd Begg, TMLA Class of 1981 and a Trustee of The Mary Louis Academy. Melissa serves as Professor of Biostatistics and Vice-Provost for Academic Programs at Columbia University.

Nancy ScipioneCimino We at TMLA were honored to celebrate the beautiful life of one of "our girls", Nancy Scipione Cimino - Class of 1979. Nancy’s family and friends came together to create a beautiful garden on TMLA’s campus, planted with Nancy’s favorite flowers. This garden now serves as a place of quiet reflection for our students and a lasting memorial to the wonderful woman Nancy was. May her spirit always remain to touch the young women who reflect at her garden, in the halls where young women follow her footsteps and, of course, at the phone-booth outside of the Cafeteria...where she found love and lifelong friends. We remain so proud of "our girl". Requiescat in Pace Nancy...job well done!

RELIEF AFTER HURRICANE MARIA A tremendous “thank you” to all of our TMLA Family who so generously responded to our call to come to the aid of our sister school, Academia Maria Reina, in San Juan, PR. Like much of the island, the AMR community was truly devastated by the effects of Hurricane Maria. A portion of the monies donated were used to purchase new mattresses and bedding for the families of AMR, who lost all of their possessions in the hurricane. Thank you so very much for helping to show the families of Puerto Rico that their TMLA Family will always be there for them. 80

Congratulations to Jordan Nixon - TMLA Class of 2018 - on being named the 2018 Miss New York Basketball Award Winner. Jordan was selected at the end of a two part process which included voting by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York and committee deliberations. The BCANY is composed of basketball coaches from both the scholastic and collegiate level statewide. The Miss New York Basketball Award is the top award that a high school basketball player in the State of New York can receive. Jordan has also been selected as a McDonald’s AllAmerican and has been nominated for other prestigious honors such as Gatorade Player of the Year, All-USA Team and All-USA Player of the Year. She has been honored as All-Queens, All-Brooklyn/Queens and All-New York City. This is the second year in a row one of TMLA’s students has been selected for the highly prestigious McDonald’s All-American Basketball Team. Jordan is one of only 50 young women from across the United States and Canada to be chosen for this high honor. Jordan excels not only on the court but also in the classroom and has already signed her letter of intent to attend Notre Dame University in the fall. Jordan joins her TMLA “sister” Danielle Patterson ’17 at Notre Dame. In 2017 Danielle was also named a McDonald’s All-American and in 2018 helped lead Notre Dame Basketball to capture the NCAA Women’s Basketball Division 1 Championship…. Notre Dame’s first women’s national championship since 2001!
