Locate Jersey is the dedicated in-government team responsible for inward investment. The team focuses on two areas – Business and High Net Worth Individual (HNWI) relocation.

We provide comprehensive, confidential and free advice to facilitate, support and guide individuals and companies through the process of relocating to Jersey. Also, once they have arrived, we provide an aftercare programme to help them settle in to Island life. High Value Residency (HVR) is an important part of our proposition. The perfect mix of having a strong business hub in St. Helier, yet only being a short drive from home or the beach, along with the excellent healthcare and education we have on the Island really appeals to people.

WHERE DO YOU FIT INTO THE WORK THAT LOCATE JERSEY DOES?

I’m Director of High Value Residency, so I assist individuals, or their intermediaries, with putting together their application dossiers, acting as a single point of contact between them and the government, liaising with tax, housing, social security, customs and immigration, etc. My aim is to make the process as smooth as possible for the HNWI looking to move to Jersey and to provide them with all the contacts and services they need to make it happen.

WHAT IS THE TREND FOR ENQUIRIES THIS YEAR?

May and June of this year have been particularly busy for new enquiries. This is really good news for Jersey, as it means people are really recognising our strengths and seeing how the lifestyle here can be the perfect solution for both family and business.

WHY DO YOU THINK MORE PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED?

There are a number of contributing factors, and everyone’s reasoning differs. For example, people are seeing that Jersey acts as a safe and stable environment to establish a presence against the backdrop of uncertainty elsewhere. Jersey is not part of the EU or the UK, however, we have strong connections to both the UK and Europe, and the wealth of professional service providers on the Island makes us an attractive prospect for many business people. We also offer some of the lowest direct taxes in Europe, so with recent tax changes in other jurisdictions, the simplicity, transparency and security of Jersey’s High Value Residency regime offers the perfect solution for both personal and family life, and their business environment.

WHERE DO YOU MOSTLY SEE NEW FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS COMING FROM?

They are predominantly coming from the UK, or are UK Passport holders wanting to return closer to the UK – usually for family reasons. Other geographical areas we have seen families move from are Switzerland, Germany, Australia and Singapore.

HOMES ARE PROBABLY A KEY PRIORITY FOR NEW FAMILIES. DO YOU HAVE THE QUANTITY AND QUALITY REQUIRED IN JERSEY?

Jersey has an attractive and diverse portfolio of high quality homes for HNWIs to choose from. The range of properties available is as diverse as the Island itself, from luxury waterfront apartments and historic Cod Houses to picturesque granite farmhouses. Jersey really is a place you can find a beautiful home to suit your tastes, put down roots and settle.

HOW DO YOU HELP FAMILIES SETTLE WELL INTO ISLAND LIFE?

Aftercare is recognised by inward investment agencies across the world as an important part of the work carried out to ensure individuals and businesses investing into an economy continue to invest and grow. We firmly believe that aftercare for the newly arrived family is integral to them settling in and integrating into the community.

The aftercare we offer can be anything from coffee and a catch-up to see how they are settling in, a networking event to introduce the newly arrived to each other, through to post-establishment facilitation services and developmental advice and support for their businesses.

JERSEY IS WELL SITUATED BETWEEN FRANCE AND THE UK. WHAT ARE THE TRANSPORT LINKS LIKE TO MAKE MOVING AROUND AS EASY AS POSSIBLE?

Jersey is very well connected with direct flights to key UK business centres and easy access to Europe and beyond. There are 11 daily flights into London, as well as direct flights to Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester and Southampton, with additional seasonal services to the UK and Europe including Belfast, Dublin, Edinburgh, Geneva and Zurich between May and October. For those who enjoy private aviation, for work or personal use, Jersey has the perfect facilities for that too, through the likes of Gama Aviation, which provides excellent charter, management and maintenance services.
