Leading the lineup is the 330 Targa R Edition, the first vessel in New Zealand to be powered by Mercury Racing’s new 400R V10 outboard engines. With a top speed exceeding 60 knots, this 10-metre boat is one of the fastest production cabin RIBs in the country.

Seared Yellowfin Tuna with Orange Teriyaki
Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 cup orange marmalade
1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 teaspoon fresh ginger root, grated
1 teaspoon curry powder
1 habanero pepper, seeded and diced
4 (8-ounce) yellowfin tuna steaks cracked black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil orange slices for garnish
Directions:
In a small sauce pan, melt butter and sauté the onion over medium heat until soft.
Add marmalade, teriyaki sauce, orange juice, ginger, curry powder and diced habaneros; heat through (set aside and keep warm).
Coat tuna steaks with cracked pepper.
Heat olive oil in sauté pan over medium-high heat; sear tuna to desired doneness, turning once.
Cook for 2 minutes on each side for rare center; 3 to 5 minutes each side for medium center; 5 to 8 minutes each side for well-done center.
Spoon the orange teriyaki sauce over steaks in the pan to glaze or spoon sauce onto plate and place tuna on top.
Garnish with orange slices.

Highfield Boats USA Announces Four New Dealer Partners
CADILLAC, MI – April 30, 2025 – Highfield Boats USA, the leading supplier of rigid inflatable boats (RIBS) in America, announces it has added four new dealer partners to its U.S. sales network for Highfield RIBs. They include Boater’s Choice and Keenan Marina in Michigan, and Reliable Marine and Riddle Marine in Hawaii.

Outstanding Conditions Create the Perfect Fishing Paradise. The fishing scene around Naples and Marco Island has reached peak summer excellence, with anglers experiencing some of the most productive conditions of the year. Hot and sunny with a nice steady southeast wind are the days we wait for all year. The combination of stable weather patterns, warm water temperatures, and abundant baitfish has created ideal circumstances for targeting the area’s premier game fish species. Crystal-clear Gulf waters and prefect backcountry conditions have made this an exceptional time for both inshore and nearshore fishing opportunities.
Snook fishing has been particularly outstanding throughout the Naples and Marco Island areas, with fish actively feeding in the passes and adjacent bays. These prized game fish have been responding exceptionally well to live bait presentations, particularly around structure and current breaks. Snook, Redfish and jacks have been steady on all of our trips back there. The warmer water temperatures have triggered aggressive feeding behavior, making this an ideal time for both trophy hunters and anglers
seeking consistent action. Early morning and evening sessions have proven most productive, with snook readily taking live pilchards and artificial lures worked around mangrove shorelines, docks and beaches.
The redfish bite hasn’t been as productive as the snook, but we are catching them sprinkled in amongst our morning trips. Most of our action has been on the higher parts of the incoming tides. We are casting our live baits close to the mangroves and keeping them tight to the cover for as long as we can, as these fish are deep in the mangroves. A well placed cast has made it remarkably rewarding when you see your line jump and know something has just taking your bait .
Summer Slam: Multi-Species Action
Heats Up Around Naples & Marco Island Fishing has been very good with good action on snook, a few redfish, mackerel, nice size mangrove snapper, sharks and a few tarpon rolling around.
As is the norm plenty of mangrove snappers show up mid summer with many keepers, 10” or bigger. Snook are active along the beaches, passes and adjacent bays with some nice snook in the 30” range. we’re also catching some nice redfish at higher tides in the bays and a few along the beaches. Sharks are along the beaches and in some of the back bays. Lemon sharks, black tip sharks and bull sharks are most prevalent.
July/August Fishing Report – Naples & Marco Island: Summer Action in Full Swing Fishing in Southwest Florida during July/August offers plenty of exciting opportunities, especially around Naples and Marco Island. While the peak of the tarpon fishing run has passed, there’s still great variety inshore and nearshore. Snook fishing, redfish action, and shark fishing are providing consistent action—and it’s a fantastic time to make memories with friends and family out on the water.

We’re catching snook on live bait like pilchards and pinfish, as well as artificial lures including topwater plugs and soft jerkbaits.
Redfish fishing has been solid too, with reds cruising mangrove edges and grass flats during higher tides. Cut bait, shrimp, and soft plastics under a popping cork have all been effective. For families or newer anglers, redfish offer a forgiving and fun bite with the bonus of being great table fare.
Tarpon Fishing: Still a Shot at the Silver King
While the peak tarpon season winds down in July, we’re still seeing opportunities— especially early in the month and around the passes. Some resident fish and stragglers from the migration are hanging near structures and rolling along the beaches during calm mornings.
Anglers looking to hook into one of these powerful fish should be on the water early, armed with live crabs or threadfins. A bite is never guaranteed with tarpon, but the chance to battle one still exists—and it’s an unforgettable experience when it happens.
Shark Fishing: Big Bites, Big Smiles

Sea trout have been adding consistent variety to fishing trips, with good numbers found throughout the passes and deeper potholes. These spotted beauties have been responding well to both live and artificial baits, providing excellent action for light tackle enthusiasts. The abundance of baitfish has been truly remarkable, with live pilchards easily netted along the beaches and passes. This baitfish bonanza has not only made live bait readily available but has also concentrated predator species in predictable areas, creating outstanding fishing opportunities throughout the SW Florida areas .
The weather conditions have been absolutely perfect with Calm seas, light winds, and abundant sunshine have made every trip comfortable and productive. The stable weather pattern has allowed access to all fishing areas, from the protected backcountry to the nearshore Gulf waters. Sunshine and rain! South Florida weather has been great beautiful mornings light winds, creating great conditions, clean water and excellent Fishing.
Anglers looking the tango with the snook channels, seawalls and docks have been the main targets. The bigger fish are spawning near the passes Live bait and Doa 3” shad tail have been the baits of choice. Snook have been ranging from 2 to 25 pounds. Snook are chewing and being found from beaches to inside dock and mangroves. Live bait gets the snook fired up but a DOA Terror Eyz or Rapala x rap entices strikes as well. With the full moon snook stack up in passes willing to eat baits on the bottom.
The silver King, always my favorite and clients as well, are enjoying the drag screaming runs and acrobatic leaps. Silver king action has been fantastic, anglers are enjoying catches from 5 to 70 pounds. Live baits works with the tide and worked near structure, triggers strikes. DOA Terror eyz worked near rolling
fish gets tarpon striking, back bays areas great for the DOA. Beaches are holding big tarpon but seas have em a little bumpy for anglers to target them on beach. Tarpon have been abundant in deep holes, along docks, sea wall and along channel edges. Free lining Live bait with the tide great way to get hooked up with the tarpon.
When not targeting snook and tarpon clients enjoy getting the rods bent and there’s nothing better than fishing, bottom structure and rock piles. These areas are teaming with a plethora of species, snapper, drum, mackerel, grunts, moonfish, and many other species, putting smiles on angler‘s faces.
The great thing about fishing the Palm Beaches, it offers such a plethora of species to target. Anglers enjoy wrangling many species out of one area like jacks, snook, tarpon, snapper, sharks, while fishing rocks piles anglers can ramp up species numbers quickly.

Nighttime tarpon fishing in Fort Lauderdale is hot in both action and temperature during July. As the sun goes down, the heat eases off, and tarpon become more aggressive, especially around well-lit structure like bridges, inlets, marinas, and dock lights.
Using live pilchards and artificial lures after dark is one of the most consistent methods for hooking into both juvenile and trophy-class fish this time of year.
Prime Nighttime LocationsBridges & Dock Lights: Las Olas Bridge, Sunrise Blvd Bridge, and 17th Street Causeway are prime spots. Look for fish staging in current seams and shadow lines.
Tarpon ambush bait flowing with the tide under the lights. Tarpon are staging at choke points, waiting for bait to flush out under dock and bridge lights.
ICW & New River: Calm canal edges with overhanging docks and dim light provide cover for rolling fish. New River near downtown has been producing well around 10 PM–midnight.
Port Everglades Inlet: Larger tarpon are active on the outgoing tide at night, especially when bait schools flush through the channel. South side of the inlet, just past the jetty is a prime spot to find both
snook and tarpon.
Live Pilchards: Nighttime Tactics
Setup: Rod/Reel: 7’ medium-heavy spinning rod with 5000–6000 size reel. Line: 30 lb braid to a 50–60 lb mono leader. Hook: 5/0 circle hook, nose-hooked pilchards for freelining.
How to Fish Them: Freeline with the current near light lines and shadow edges. Cast up-current and allow the bait to drift naturally into the strike zone. Keep the drag light — tarpon often hit without warning and go airborne fast. Try a splitshot when the current is strong to keep your bait streamlined.
Hot Zones: Pilchards drifted near bridge fenders and pilings are getting crushed. Fish are often suspended in 4–10 ft of water, close to structure.

Retrieve Tips: Use a slow, steady retrieve with occasional twitches near shadow lines. On slick calm nights, long pauses often trigger a strike. For suspended fish, let twitchbaits sink 3–5 seconds before working them through.

Moon Phase: Full Moon on August 9 — expect increased activity 2 days before and after, especially during outgoing tides. Best Tides: Outgoing tide from 9 PM to 1 AM has been most productive.
Final Thoughts: Fort Lauderdale’s summer nights are alive with tarpon activity. Whether you’re freelining live pilchards near a bridge light or working a swimbait through a quiet canal, this is the time to hook into a silver king. Just remember: stay quiet, fish smart, and be ready when that drag screams and the fish takes to the air.

FLOTILLA 7-16 OFFERS SAFE BOATING CLASSES IN GULFPORT, FL, MEETS THE THIRD WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH.
These classes qualify the attendee for the FWC Safe Boating Card. This card is required for most people born after January 1, 1988 to legally operate a power boat with greater than 10hp motor in Florida. The one-day class includes instruction on safety equipment, boat handling, rules of the road, navigation aids, communications, trailering, legal requirements and others. Power and sailboats are covered, as well as personal watercraft. Of course, besides making a boater in compliance, the main goal of the class is to create a safer boater. Classes are offered on the second Saturday of each month. To sign up, contact Marty Richardson at (630)674-5352. Flotilla 7-16 also performs free courtesy vessel safety inspections for power and sail boats, personal watercraft, and paddle craft. The inspector will come to your location, inspect the required safety features of your vessel, and if you pass will provide a safety sticker to mount on your vessel. The inspection is a courtesy, so no action is taken if problems are found. But the vessel owner then knows of any deficiencies to correct before having an accident or being sanctioned by the Coast Guard. A VESSEL SAFETY CHECK - STUART -
Despite numerous COVID-19 restrictions, more and more boaters are taking to the water to alleviate at-home boredom while taking advantage of the open-air benefits and more pandemic-free aspects of recreational boating. But if you haven’t been out boating in a while, are your vessel’s lights operating properly? Do you have a sufficient number of life jackets for the number of passengers aboard? Is your engine’s ventilation system up to par? To get you started on a new year boating adventure, now may be a perfect time to consider getting a 2022 Vessel Safety Check (VSC) offered by certified VSC examiners from the St. Lucie River Power Squadron, also known as America’s Boating Club of Martin County. These trained VSC examiners from the local squadron will point out safety features such as minimum requirements required by the U.S. Coast Guard, examine fundamental mechanical aspects of your vessel, and answer questions how you can have more fun safely on the water. These are just a few of the many discussion points covered in this voluntary examination. As an added plus, Vessel Safety Checks are free to boat owners. And if you don’t “pass muster” with the thorough examination, the summary report is yours and yours alone. BOATING CLASSES - A Vessel Safety Check is a complimentary check of your boat conducted by members of the Auxiliary, confirming that it meets both federal and state requirements for safety. No citations are issued, and the results of the safety check are not reported to any enforcement agency, but a decal is awarded to display when the vessel has passed the examination. The Vessel Safety Check (VSC) is performed at your boat, whether in a slip, at the launch ramp, or in your driveway, by a certified Vessel Examiner, at a mutuallyconvenient time. It usually takes 20-45 minutes, depending on the size of your boat. After successful inspection you are awarded a vessel safety check sticker which is affixed to your vessel near your state registration sticker. Vessel Safety Checks (VSC):
Vessel Safety Checks are a crucial component of the Clearwater Flotilla’s mission to enhance boating safety. Trained and certified examiners will be available throughout the year to conduct complimentary VSCs for local boaters. These checks cover a variety of safety aspects, including life jackets, navigation lights, fire extinguishers, and other essential equipment. By participating in a VSC, boaters can ensure that their vessels meet all required safety standards, fostering a safer maritime environment for all.
Boat America Classes:
The Clearwater Flotilla is also pleased to announce the schedule for Boat America classes in 2024. These classes provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of boating safety, navigation rules, and emergency procedures. Whether you’re a seasoned boater or a newcomer to maritime activities, these classes offer valuable insights and practical knowledge that can contribute to a safer and more enjoyable boating experience. Participation in Boat America Classes is open to boaters of all experience levels, and successful completion may result in valuable discounts on boat insurance. SARASOTA FLOTILLA 82 OF THE USCG AUXILIARY Florida law requires that any person born on or after Jan. 1, 1988, may not operate a vessel powered by a motor of 10 horsepower or greater unless such person has in his or her possession, aboard the vessel, photographic identification, a Florida boater safety identification card (or any other state’s boating card), and the registration for their vessel. Regarding the above law, which has been in effect for over a year, Flotilla 82 of the USCG Auxiliary, based in Sarasota, Florida (at Mote Marine) offers a 1-day course held on the last Saturday of each month. It starts at 9:00 am and completes at 5:00 pm. The course includes the USCG exam which, if passed, results in a Florida lifetime boating card/license.
