Princecraft Unveils All-New Vogue Pontoon for Model Year 2025

RINCEVILLE, Québec – October 22, 2024 – Princecraft® Boats, a leading manufacturer of high-quality aluminum boats and a brand within Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC), today announced the launch of the all-new Vogue Pontoon for model year 2025, the next level of elevated experiences for the brand. The new models will be available in 25’ and 27’ configurations and highlight the powerful synergies between Brunswick’s divisions, specifically Navico Group, and Mercury Marine.

The new Vogue will have modernized features unlike any other pontoon from Princecraft including a contour made with ABS bonded with a acrylic skin laminated on it, new RGB lighting and digital switching. In addition, the Vogue features a new modern and sleek look that matches consumer demand with a new wakeboard tower and an optional 15 inch Ultrawide Simrad screen (9 inches is the current option and standard on this model).

enting a boat is a smart way to get out on the water before buying your own boat. Whether planning a fishing trip, a relaxing cruise, or a family outing, safety should always come first.

Why Boat Rental Safety Is The Top Priority Prioritizing safety while renting a boat ensures you’re ready to handle unexpected challenges and lets you focus on making the most of your time on the water.

Tips for a Safe Boat Rental Experience: Take a Boating Course Even seasoned boaters can benefit from a refresher course.

Enrolling in a boating safety course boosts your confidence and equips you with essential knowledge. Alternatively, many rental companies allow you to hire a captain by the hour or day.

Keep Kids and Pets Secure Kids and pets love boating, but their safety requires extra attention. Ensure children wear life jackets the entire time and bring pet-specific safety gear, like life jackets with handles for easy lifting.

Share Your Float Plan Let someone onshore know where you’re headed, who’s onboard, and your expected return time. It’s a simple way to add a layer of security to your trip.

Pre-Departure Rental Boat Safety Checklist Once you’ve picked your rental, it’s time for a quick but thorough inspection to be sure everything’s in top shape.

Get Familiar with the Controls Ask the rental staff to walk you through the boat’s features, especially if it’s your first time operating one. Learn how to use the steering, throttle, and anchor system.

Keep an Eye on the Weather Check the forecast and avoid heading out if conditions look rough. It’s better to reschedule than risk being stuck in bad weather. Have a backup plan in case of sudden weather changes. Familiarize yourself with nearby safe harbors or anchorages where you can seek shelter.

Fuel, Oil, and Other Basics Ensure the boat has enough fuel for your trip, and ask the rental team what to do if you run low. Inspect the oil and coolant levels. Additionally, run the ventilation blowers for a few minutes before starting the engine. If you smell fumes, address the issue before proceeding.

Confirm that the battery is fully charged, and test essential battery-operated tools such as radios, flashlights, and navigation systems before departure.

Boat Rental Safety Gear To Have on Board Life Jackets and PFDs Every person on board must have a properly fitting, U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket. Before departing, show passengers where PFDs are stored. Try them on before you leave the dock, as each person’s life jacket must fit correctly.

Children and pets should wear life jackets at all times.

Boats longer than 16 feet need a throwable flotation device, too. Confirm your vessel has one and know where and when to use it.

A rental boat should have the life jackets supplied. But it can be good to bring your own, especially for kids and pets, in addition to the spare clothes, towels, sunscreen, and other boating essentials.

First Aid Kit It’s crucial to be prepared before heading out on the water.

Double-check that the boat has a well-stocked marine first aid kit, or bring your own to be sure. Add seasickness remedies to the kit, especially for passengers sensitive to motion.

Fire Extinguishers Check that there’s at least one Coast Guard-approved fire extinguisher on the boat, and ask where it’s stored and how to use it. Check that it’s securely mounted and has been recently inspected.

Communication Tools Even if you plan to stay close to shore, bring a waterproof VHF radio or a fully charged phone. It’s your lifeline in case of an emergency. Have a backup power bank for your phone and other communication devices.

Sound-Signaling Devices Confirm that the boat is equipped with at least two sound signaling devices: an air horn, whistle, or bell will work.

Lights and Distress Signals Check that navigation lights are functional. Know the location of flares and teach passengers how to use them. Keep them dry and accessible.

Anchoring and Docking Check that your anchor has an attached line, along with two fenders for docking. Inspect the anchor line and fenders for wear and tear. Keep spare dock lines onboard for extra security.

Mercury Marine earns 14th consecutive Green Masters designation

Shrimp in Deviled-Egg Boats Ingredients 16 large shrimp, cooked, peeled & deveined 1/2 teaspoon seafood seasoning 8 large eggs, hard-boiled, peeled & cooled 4 tablespoons mayonnaise or sour cream 4 teaspoons parsley, minced 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard (or to taste) 1 teaspoon vinegar 2 teaspoons green onions, minced 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1/4 teaspoon curry powder 3 drops hot pepper sauce (optional) parsley, chopped for garnish

In a small bowl, toss shrimp with seafood seasoning; cover and chill for 1 hour.

Slice hard-boiled eggs in half lengthwise and remove yolks.

In a mixing bowl, mash yolks with a fork and add remaining ingredients.

Spoon the yolk mixture into the egg white halves, mounding slightly.

Top each egg half with a seasoned shrimp and wedge into yolk filling.

Arrange on a platter, garnish with parsley and chill until ready to serve.

UNITED STATES COAST GUARD FLOTILLA 7-16 OFFERS SAFE BOATING CLASSES IN GULFPORT, FL, MEETS THE THIRD WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH. These classes qualify the attendee for the FWC Safe Boating Card. This card is required for most people born after January 1, 1988 to legally operate a power boat with greater than 10hp motor in Florida. The one-day class includes instruction on safety equipment, boat handling, rules of the road, navigation aids, communications, trailering, legal requirements and others. Power and sailboats are covered, as well as personal watercraft. Of course, besides making a boater in compliance, the main goal of the class is to create a safer boater. Classes are offered on the second Saturday of each month. To sign up, contact Marty Richardson at (630)674-5352. Flotilla 7-16 also performs free courtesy vessel safety inspections for power and sail boats, personal watercraft, and paddle craft. The inspector will come to your location, inspect the required safety features of your vessel, and if you pass will provide a safety sticker to mount on your vessel. But the vessel owner then knows of any deficiencies to correct before having an accident or being sanctioned by the Coast Guard. A VESSEL SAFETY CHECK - STUART Despite numerous COVID-19 restrictions, more and more boaters are taking to the water to alleviate at-home boredom while taking advantage of the open-air benefits and more pandemic-free aspects of recreational boating. But if you haven’t been out boating in a while, are your vessel’s lights operating properly? Do you have a sufficient number of life jackets for the number of passengers aboard? Is your engine’s ventilation system up to par? To get you started on a new year boating adventure, now may be a perfect time to consider getting a 2022 Vessel Safety Check (VSC) offered by certified VSC examiners from the St. Lucie River Power Squadron, also known as America’s Boating Club of Martin County. These trained VSC examiners from the local squadron will point out safety features such as minimum requirements required by the U.S. Coast Guard, examine fundamental mechanical aspects of your vessel, and answer questions how you can have more fun safely on the water. These are just a few of the many discussion points covered in this voluntary examination. As an added plus, Vessel Safety Checks are free to boat owners. And if you don’t “pass muster” with the thorough examination, the summary report is yours and yours alone. SARASOTA FLOTILLA 82 OF THE USCG AUXILIARY Florida law requires that any person born on or after Jan. 1, 1988, may not operate a vessel powered by a motor of 10 horsepower or greater unless such person has in his or her possession, aboard the vessel, photographic identification, a Florida boater safety identification card (or any other state’s boating card), and the registration for their vessel. Regarding the above law, which has been in effect for over a year, Flotilla 82 of the USCG Auxiliary, based in Sarasota, Florida (at Mote Marine) offers a 1-day course held on the last Saturday of each month. It starts at 9:00 am and completes at 5:00 pm. The course includes the USCG exam which, if passed, results in a Florida lifetime boating card/license. Post-front conditions have brought water temperatures down to the 60-degree range, but the mercury steadily climbs to 70 degrees within a few days of sunny weather. These fluctuations are critical for anglers to consider when planning their outings.

This concentration makes it easier to locate schools of fish, but stealth and precision are key.

Approach these areas quietly to avoid spooking your targets.

Clear skies and calm winds following a cold front create ideal sight fishing conditions. Redfish and spotted sea trout are actively cruising the shallows, especially during these bright, sunny days.

Fly anglers and light tackle enthusiasts can capitalize on these conditions by focusing on flats with clean, shallow water.

The primary forage for redfish and trout in Tampa Bay right now includes small mud crabs and shrimp. Fly anglers should opt for patterns that mimic these food sources, such as:

with Captain Ray Markham Keep Your Knees Bent for Top Action Keeping your fishing plans flexible due to changing weather conditions can make all the difference between fishing and catching. With winter just around the corner, we’ve begun seeing cold fronts move in on a more regular basis…about every 5 to 7 days apart. The timeframe just after a frontal passage will see high pressure moving in and clearing skies.

It can be a bit more difficult fishing at first but improves after a couple of days when the waters begin to clear. Perhaps the best fishing may be just prior to a cold front moving in as the barometric pressure begins to drop. There seems to be a time frame of a couple of hours where fish feel this pressure change through their lateral lines that they realize that finding food will become more difficult, and thus they immediately search for food.

Trout fishing has steadily improved in both sizes of fish and numbers. Some of the best action I’ve found has been in channels at the bottom of the outgoing and beginning of the incoming tides. The 3-inch DOA Shrimp has been a no-fail lure for me in the night glow, gold glitter, and red glitter colors. A dead-slow presentation with occasional twitches of the rod draws strikes.

If drift fishing, a long cast out the back of the boat “trolling” with occasional twitches will also work well. It’s a lure that you can also just toss out and put the rod in the rod holder and the drift is usually enough to set the hook. Speck sizes have been running from 12 to 22 inches, representing several-year classes of fish, a good sign of a recovering fishery. Pinellas Point has seen some good action with trout on the grass beds. The CAL Shad with a ¼ oz. jighead and the MirrOlure Lil’ John rigged on a 1/8 oz. jighead has been deadly here.

Redfish action has been somewhat spotty with some schooling fish around Fort Desoto near Bunces Pass. Eppinger Rex gold weedless spoons have been effective around schooling fish, but the MirrOlure 17MR MirrOdine series has been the top artificial for single fish.

East Beach on Fort Desoto has also been holding some nice redfish.

Pompano have been in the catch lately around Shell Key and Pass-A-Grille Channel. Yellow Doc’s Goofy Jigs have been my goto lure for them, and the DOA TerrorEyz has also

West Central Florida produced some nice pompano to about 4-pounds.

Recently I’ve found some flounder moving into the Pinellas area in Boca Ciega and lower Tampa Bays. Areas with good moving water have held the most fish, particularly around passes like John’s Pass, Bunces Pass, and the also the sandy areas around the Dick Misner Bridge. Coming off the full moon with the tides running hard, a 3/8 oz. Chartreuse CAL jig head with an Arkansas Glow CAL Shad tail has produced good results. Flounder caught range from 14 to 16 inches.

If you have the luxury of fishing when you want and not just when you can, try hitting the water just before a cold front or during the weather window following.

You’ll find the action good if you keep your knees bent. ‘Til then…I’ll catch ya later!

Tania and I arrived at Blue Heron Beach at 7:00 a.m. to set up.

As the first ones on the beach, we secured a great spot with enough space for all the rods.

By 8:00 a.m., we welcomed five families (13 participants in total) and were joined by our amazing team of five volunteers, all of whom are fellow Salt Strong Insiders.

The day started with calm winds and flat seas, giving us hope for a productive fishing day despite the cold weather. However, the wind picked up as the families began to arrive, and the ocean became

increasingly rough.

We began the event with a prayer, followed by a surf fishing demonstration. I showed everyone how to set up pompano rigs and use Fishbites bait with 4oz Sputnik sinkers. A special thanks to Captain Paul Sperco, who made this event possible with his generous contributions: Fishbites donated the bait, The Sinker Guy donated the sinkers, and Captain Paul handcrafted the rigs!

Despite the rough conditions, we fished from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. During that time, we managed to catch a pompano, an Atlantic threadfin (glassnose whiting), and a whiting. By late morning, the ocean had become so rough that even the 4oz Sputniks couldn’t hold, prompting us to wrap up the fishing portion of the event.

December in South Florida has been pleasant. Cold fronts have pushed through our local area, making for chilly mornings and cool water temperatures.

This has been great for driving migratory fish south into our local waters.

There’s been a plethora of species to target throughout the intercoastal.

Anglers looking for snook, channels, docks, seawalls and mangrove shorelines great areas to locate common and fat snook. Rapala x raps and DOA terror eyz have been the best baits.

Channels and flats have been teaming with schooling fish.

Bluefish, jacks, drum, snapper, ladyfish, sharks, pompano and many other species. Anglers are having a blast never knowing what’s on the other side of the line. Great fishing for the kids, nonstop action, teaches them all the varieties of species that roam the local waters.

Spectacular weather the past week, anglers enjoyed plenty of sunshine,

families for a touching moment where the children thanked their parents for bringing them and told them they loved them.

Despite the challenging weather, it was a memorable event and a great way to end this year’s grant. A huge thank you to the Salt Strong volunteers who made this possible and to the families who participated.

As water temperatures cool, snook will continue to gather near muddy bottom areas, docks and seawalls as these areas hold heat and bait.
