My name is Amanda and I am a curious person. Minnesota witnessed my first steps, but fate brought me to China when I was five years old. My father’s work became my passport into a world of new sights, sounds, and languages. My memories of those formative years in China are vivid— the bustling markets, the unfamiliar flavors, and the language that flowed effortlessly from my mouth. However, the journey of life finally led me back to the familiar shores of the United States at twelve o'clock. 后来，蝴蝶效应扩展到了社会学和经济学领域。也就是 说，一件小事的发生，可能会引起另外一件意想不到的大 事的发生。下面这个故事就是这样。
琳琳是一位高中老师。周一早上，她 丈夫不小心把咖啡洒在了她的衣服 上。她因为换衣服而迟到了。校长上 周刚强调过不要迟到，所以她被校长 狠狠地批评了一顿。 TMM | 07
上午第一节课，因为小李没有完成作业， 琳琳很大声地批评了他。一早就被老师批 评，小李一上午都不高兴。中午他一个人 去河边散步，不小心被一只小狗咬伤，他 哭着打电话给妈妈。
小李的妈妈是一家公司的老板，公司有一千多人。接到儿子的电 话，她马上请假带儿子去医院。后来她因为照顾儿子，下午的商 务谈判晚到了一个小时，一个很好的机会被竞争对手抢走了。就 这样，在那一年，他们第一次被竞争对手公司超过了。
过了几年以后，公司的业务越来越少，她只能裁掉五百人来保住 公司。而这影响的就是公司里五百人的生活。对很多被裁员工来 说，这份工作挣的钱是他们家里唯一的收入。那一年，这家公司 所在城市的犯罪率上升了百分之十。
这就是蝴蝶效应。一件看起来不太重要的事 情，可能会给我们的生活带来很大的变化。
