Unmasking your wedding makeup

HAVING CHOSEN THE MOST STUNNING MASK TO WEAR FOR YOUR WEDDING, THE NEXT IMPORTANT QUESTION IS HOW TO BUILD YOUR PERFECT LOOK AROUND IT. HERE ARE SOME EASY WAYS TO ACHIEVE THIS.

BEAUTY BASICS Begin by cleaning and moisturising your skin. Then apply a matte face primer tosoften imperfections, seal in moisture, give a betterbase for your foundation andcontrol oily skin and perspiration.

When the primer has had at least a minute to dry apply a water-resistant,smudge-proof longlasting liquid and powder foundation. There are formulas to suit all skin types and tones

For extra lasting effectcover this with a powder foundation, using a foundation brush; sponges are too heavy.Hold the handle near the bristles for light, even distribution.

Next, a translucent powder to match any skin tone and set your foundation. Use very little, just brush over the face, focusing on the T-Zone area. This will absorb any oil from the foundation.

BLUSHING BRIDES

To create a sense of depth add both cream and powder blusher, in a taupe shade of blush, which looks good on all skin tones. For longer staying power start with the cream and set it with the powder. Practise the best ways to get a subtle look where the blush peeps out from under your mask.

If you use a highlighterchoose a powder. Wet or glittery is not a good look.

EYES RIGHT

To be sure your eyes sparkle throughout, create a long-lasting effect with primer, then a cream shadow and gel liner.Set this with translucent powder. For eyeshadow, try different textures by combining a long-lasting matte with a shimmery shadow for fresh and modern effect.

Using eyebrow gel in a shade tomatch will build them and keep them in place while looking perfectly natural.

For lovely lashes coat them with a primer to boost their volume and uselash curlers, then add two coats of long-lasting, waterproof mascara, or layer a waterproof formula over your favourite lengthening or volumising mascara.

LUSCIOUS LIPS

Colour in your lips with a nude long-wear liner, or one that is closest to the shade of your own lips, then apply a matte lipstick and re-line your lips to blend the edges. Blot with a thin tissue to absorb any emollients in the lip colour. Set by dusting with a whisper of powder ora finishing spray containing flexiblepolymers that prevent smudging, creasing, and fading under a mask. And remember, the shinier the lipstick, the greater the chance it will smudge onto your mask.

Finally, when you’ve finished setting your makeup, make sure you spritz the inside of your protective face mask with some setting spray as an extra layer of insurance.

FACE-SAVING HINTS

◊ Mask wearing has meant reviewing makeup choices and habits because even wearing one for a comparatively short time can make your skin more sensitive, and some skin care products that you’ve used in the past may irritate your skin. It’s even a good idea to leave makeup off completely, and simply stickto mild, skin care products, while wearing a mask for any length of time. ◊ To be sure your skin is at its very best on your wedding day begin a skin health regime several months in advance. ◊ Apart from a complexion friendly diet, including litres of water, experiment with several makeup and care products to find the best ones for your skin’s health and to use on the day.

This way you will avoid any scary or allergic reactions nearer the date. ◊ Use a moisturiser that matches your skin type after washing your face and before and after using a mask. This is important to prevent problems, especially if your skin is dry or sensitive. ◊ Although masks slightly protect from the effects of sun, cold winds and pollutants, chapped lips can often occur when wearing one. Covering your lips with simple petroleum jelly can help prevent this.
