To find work on campus, check with research labs, academic departments and your favorite campus buildings for possible job openings. LSU Residential Life hires students to work as desk assistants in the many dorms on campus, and many of the on-campus resources like the LSU Bookstore, Student Union and UREC hire students to handle day-to-day operations.

If students would prefer to work off campus, plenty of restaurants and retailers surrounding LSU are available to choose from. Local businesses also offer internships for those further along in their studies.

One on-campus volunteer opportunity exists in the LSU Food Pantry. Student volunteers at the LSU Food Pantry must complete a volunteer training sessions, and those interested should email foodpantry@lsu.edu for more information.

Students looking for a way to get involved in the Baton Rouge community should consider service-learning courses. These courses offer opportunities for students to volunteer as part of their coursework.

Students can find information about other off-campus opportunities through Volunteer LSU and volunteermatch.org. Volunteer LSU is a student-led service organization with focus areas that allow members to work on different issues. Students can use volunteermatch.org to find local volunteer opportunities that match their abilities and passions.

These opportunities and more can be found in the Handshake App offered through the Olinde Career Center. Handshake features job listings submitted to the Olinde Career Center and provides students with access to the Career Center’s resources. Students interested in part-time jobs, internships or volunteer opportunities should check Handshake or schedule an appointment with the Career Center for one-on-one advice.
