The Lovett School is dedicated to creating and maintaining an environment that welcomes and celebrates the diversity among its students, faculty, and staff. We are committed to fostering a healthy, inclusive community where all students have access to opportunities to thrive academically and socially.

We recognize that our community is enhanced as we seek to appreciate and respect the differences among our students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni. We are committed to supporting this environment through classroom instruction, professional development, and other curricular and cocurricular programming, and in accordance with our nondiscriminatory policy.

AFFINITY GROUPS & ALLIANCES

Middle and Upper School students have the opportunity to participate in Affinity Groups, which are designed for students to develop and strengthen their own racial, ethnic, or group identity, and Alliances, which are also open to students outside of the identity group. Teens Against Prejudice (TAP) and TAP, Jr. serve as umbrella organizations and foster appreciation of difference within the student body. People Of Color At Lovett (POCAL) serves as an employee affinity group.

The Office of Multicultural Programs and Services supports parents through regularly scheduled coffees, dinner clubs, book studies, and family gatherings.

The Lovett International Alliance (LIA) is a parent-run organization that is committed to expanding Breakthrough Atlanta international awareness by offering events and National Center for Civil and Human Rights programs for the entire community.

A Better Chance (ABC) Agape Youth and Family Center

Lovett employees value, honor, and respect others’ stories, recognize that a diversity of ideas leads to better outcomes, and understand that diversity, equity, and inclusivity are vital components of academic excellence and Lovett’s commitment to the whole child.

Faculty and staff build their cultural competence through a variety of professional development opportunities, including the NAIS People of Color Conference (POCC), White Privilege Conference, National SEED Project (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity), iChange Collaborative, and faculty book studies.
