tree nursery
Arrowtown will soon be getting its own community-run native tree nursery. The trees grown in the nursery will be planted in the hills around Arrowtown in areas being reclaimed from wildings and weeds. This will ensure our hills, forests, birds, and waterways can thrive into the future. The Arrowtown Choppers are expecting the nursery to open in November/ December and will be located off John Macs Way in the Tewa Banks development. We’d love to extend an open invitation to any volunteers who can help out and join us in the nursery on a Sunday morning or Wednesday night. To register your interest and to receive updates please contact us via email: nursery@ arrowtownchoppers. co.nz

arrowtown school report
Arrowtown School received some fantastic news at the end of last month. Five of our students won awards in the junior section of the Dan Davin Junior Writing Awards in Invercargill. These awards recognize young writers in Years 7-10. The highlight was India Simpson, who took first place for her writing piece titled "Friends Forever." Additionally, Leo Henderson was awarded a Highly Commended, while Finn Kealy-Laycock, Harrison Attwood, and Isobel Eady earned Commended awards. It’s a fantastic set of achievements, especially considering they were competing against students up to two years older than them! Special thanks to Kelly Scoles, who attended the event and has been working with these students in the GATE programme.
