Following sell-out shows in Wanaka last spring, Losing Faith is returning to the stage in Arrowtown soon. Written by Hawea Flat Author Liz Breslin, this dark comedy tackles new parenthood, coffee groups and post-natal depression.

If you’ve got happy memories of post-natal coffee group, if coffee group makes your insides scream, if you were the only guy there, if you don’t have a clue what coffee groups do, or if you’re a tea drinker instead, Losing Faith is the play for you.

Liz Breslin is looking forward to see the play performed again. ‘And I don't mean again like again the same. I mean it like again with new energy, a new cast, new venues.

a wild success Debbie Jackson says the annual Wild Food Feast at the bowling club was a hit. Ninety-five people, most of them locals but one group all dressed as cows coming from Mosgiel, came and went during the day. They devoured a banquet of game food and fish, and raised over $13,000 for the Cancer Society in the process.The auction went particularly well, says Debbie. ‘It was a lot of fun and entertainment, and people were very generous when bidding, saying, It's for a good cause!’

Peta Carey of the Cancer Society is full of praise. ‘I love the fact that such a community still exists in this town – well done!’ The money raised will stay in the district and the organising group will decide how it is spent. ‘We are allowed to say what we would like it put to,’ says Debbie. ‘It could be transport or home help, but we need to talk to the Cancer Society first to find out where it is needed most.’

bingo fundraiser It’s bingo but not as your nana knows it!

On Saturday 29 July Arrowtown School are hosting bingo night at the bowling club they hope will become a regular event on the Arrowtown calendar. Hosted by Queen Fee Fee, this is a risqué comedy bingo night which they guarantee will have you laughing from beginning to end. Throw in a DJ and prizes donated by the supportive local business community and it’s starting to sound like the perfect winter night out.

PTA chairperson Euni Borrie warns that tickets are selling fast, so you’d better get quick. All proceeds are going towards an all weather multisport goal area. The $30 ticket price includes supper (bring cash for the bar and raffles) and tickets are available on the Arrowtown School Community facebook page @arrowtownpta.

your flop-free recipe green tea fudge 250 g unsalted butter, cut into cubes 1/3 cup coconut cream 2 Tbsp matcha (powdered tea) 2 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 cup maple syrup Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Whisk in the coconut cream and oil. Add the remaining ingredients and allow to melt together, stirring well.

Pour the fudge mixture into a baking paper lined tin and pop into the fridge for an hour.

Cut into small pieces.
