News the local
Dear Readers We can't believe it is June already - where is the year going? There are a number of local Charity events happening in the area over the next couple of months and we hope you will try and support these anyway you can. Please see our colour adverts for details of events being held by Demelza House, Malling Lions, RSPCA and The Heart of Kent Hospice. There will also be a number of school and village fetes so we hope the weather stays dry and sunny although I am sure the gardeners amongst you would like it to rain! For those of you without green fingers, we have all types of garden advertisers ready to help your garden look magnificent for the summer. Have a good month and remember to send us any suitable pictures for our July front cover! Anna & Jane WEST MALLING CHAMBER OF COMMERCE As you may have heard, Jane has taken over as Chairman of the West Malling Chamber of Commerce. Over the past year, under the leadership of Peter Blackmore (Was Down Swan Street) the Chamber has gone from strength to strength with attendance at meetings increasing from single figures to 40 plus! Jane is looking forward to building on the recent success to return the Chamber to being the ‘voice of the business community’. Current committee members include Suzanne Dackcombe (Cloud Nine) who has established links with a substantial database of businesses in her capacity as Secretary, Rebecca Andrews (Bella Bag Boutique), Sasha Luck (The Old Clockshop), David Boughton (Scarbutts) and Mark Day (Perrys Accountancy). At recent networking meetings held by the Chamber, there has been an increase in the variety of businesses wishing to join and it is hoped that this will continue to increase. The Chamber is currently working with the Malling Action Partnership to help market the Malling area as well as identify business training needs and offer training, networking and general support to its members. If you are interested in finding out more about the Chamber, please contact Jane on 01732 521494, email jane@thelocaloracle.co.uk or contact the Secretary directly at mail@wmchamber.org.uk
