EXECUTIVE BOARD NOTE
Hello and welcome to the Livingston Theatre Company’s final mainstage production of our 25th Season, Pippin! The Livingston Theatre Company
2022-2023 Executive Board would like to recognize the production staff, cast, and crew of this production for their continuous hard work and commitment throughout this process. As our last show of the season, we wanted to create magic with this production, and this team has beyond exceeded our expectations.

Pippin is a perfect fit for our 25th season, in which we are reflecting on and embracing our differences. With the structure of our society today, it is easy to fall into the trap of trying to fit in, but we would like to present the goal of standing out. Each of our productions this season reinforces the idea that what makes us different is what makes us special. In this production, Pippin feels a lot of pressure from the Players to fit into the future they set forth for him, but he eventually realizes that he can decide his own destiny - even if it comes with compromises. Pippin builds his own path despite what has been done before, and we believe everyone can benefit from taking their life into their own hands.
As we close out our season, we would like to take a chance to reflect on our accomplishments. This season, we produced and presented three mainstage musicals as well as a mini-musical, hosted music and dance workshops, and performed at several events across Rutgers campus. We have also had an opportunity to develop new collaborations and partnerships with other student organizations. With a great foundation, we are immensely excited about the future of LTC and the direction that our group is going. It takes many committed students behind the scenes and lots of love to create these amazing productions, and the community established here at LTC is extraordinary.
This incredible show and our entire 25th season would be impossible without the support and guidance of Susan Romano, Jason Goldstein, the LTC’s Faculty Board, and the event team at The Livingston Student Center. We deeply appreciate your assistance and commitment to this company. We would also like to give a special thank you to each and every one of you for coming to see this beautiful production and providing support to the LTC and Rutgers student theatre. It is only with your help that the LTC continues to grow and thrive here at Rutgers.
We sincerely thank you for joining us for Pippin.
The 2022-2023 Executive Board
Annie Maclin, Kira Harris, John Baker, and Sagar Singal
Pippin made its way into my life about 13 years ago (yes, I was nine– take it up with my parents), when I attended a summer young adult production of it with my family. They hated it, and, to their chagrin, it became my newest obsession. I fluttered down to the library a few days later and checked out a VHS copy of the 1981 Canadian production of Pippin starring original Leading Player Ben Vereen, ‘70s heartthrob William Katt, and Broadway legend Chita Rivera, a replica of Bob Fosse’s original Tony award-winning direction. It is not an exaggeration when I say I know this show like the back of my hand.
Three years later, my family gave Pippin another chance when we saw the revival on Broadway. It felt as if this production fixed a lot of the things that were “wrong” with the original production, and it was much better received by my family, and by the world. Pippin is a story of magic and of spectacle, and this production translated that into a sideshow style, featuring acrobatics and tricks and visual effects that could never be reproduced in an amateur setting. While this was truly spectacular, I believe that the magic and spectacle of Pippin is, at its core, the magic and spectacle of theatre, and that Pippin works best when you allow the material to speak for itself.
The production of Pippin you are about to see is a marrying of these two very different productions, taking the best of Fosse’s original direction and choreography, the aspects of the revival that work in this setting, and my love and passion for this piece, and combining those ideas and themes with some of the most talented performers and creatives I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Everyone listed in this program has truly poured their heart and soul into my wacky, zany, over-the-top visions and ideas.
Pippin is, at its heart, a search for self. Self-worth, self-actualization, self-sufficiency. You name it, Pippin is searching for it for himself. Another theme, and arguably the most important, is compromise. In the eyes of the Players, to compromise is to lose your sense of self, and settling for anything less than perfection and pageantry in your life is an affront to everything in which they believe. As they encourage Pippin, I will now encourage you, to think about the sun, and join us as we present Pippin: His Life and Times.
-Michael Einiger

WHO’S WHO
KITANA SULTAN (Leading Player) is thrilled to be back on the LTC stage! Her previous roles include Esmeralda (The Hunchback of Notre Dame, LTC), Karessa (Tick, Tick... BOOM!, Cabaret Theatre), and a member of The College Avenue Player’s comedy show, Comic Relief. She also performs the National Anthem frequently at Rutgers Sporting Events. Kitana would like to thank her family for their endless support of her passion, and the entire cast, production staff, E-Board, crew, and pit for being such a pleasure to work with. We’ve got lots of magic to do, just for you, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
OWEN BUTLER (Pippin) is excited to perform in his second LTC show after previously being a part of the ensemble in “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” in the fall. His most previous community theatre credits include “Shrek the Musical” (Shrek) and “Footloose” (Ren McCormack) with ShowKids Invitational Theatre. Owen thanks his parents for all their support and wishes the entire cast and crew a great show! Also shoutout Brett Hall Floor 3!!
JAMES CARSON (King Charles) is incredibly excited to share the stage with such a wonderful cast and crew! As a senior studying civil engineering, he is grateful to be part of an organization with such a talented and friendly student body. James is the president of the glee club, which he thinks helped him portray the role of King Charles in a more convincing and goofy manner.
NATHANIEL PARIS (Lewis) is stoked to finally be able to hit the stage with LTC! Nate has participated in the past two shows of LTC’s season, Assistant Music Directing Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Co-Music Directing Hair. As a rock musical enthusiast, Pippin is a departure for the normal musical theater scene you’d find Nate in, and he is so happy he had the privilege to perform with the lovely cast. Special thanks to the cast, production staff, friends, family, and the audience. Nate hopes you will enjoy his performance that will hopefully have you laughing, and slightly uncomfortable!

KEL THOMAS (Theo) is a freshman at Rutgers, and has loved being a part of his first LTC mainstage! He has been in several theatrical productions prior to college, such as Much Ado About Nothing, Big Fish, and Sideways Stories from Wayside School. He wants to thank everyone involved with the production as well as his friends and family for being so awesome.
AARON CARR (Player) is honored to be a member of the cast of LTC’s production of Pippin. Last semester, he served as the Lighting Designer for LTC’s production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He is excited to return to musical theater performance for the first time since the pandemic. Aaron has recently performed in the Rutgers Performing Dance Company’s Spring
Showcase and will be the Vice President of the Rutgers Swing Dance Club for the 2023-2024 school year. He would like to thank the cast, crew, and LTC E-Board for their welcoming hearts, innovative minds, and passionate (and sometimes chaotic) energy and love. He would also like to thank his family and friends, old and new, for supporting him on his journey at Rutgers. Aaron is excited to experience Pippin WITH YOU! Please enjoy the show!

STANLEY SKALECKI (Player) is thrilled to be a part in LTC’s extraordinary production of Pippin! This will be Stan’s first glorious production at Rutgers, and hopefully he is on the right track in not making it his last. Some of Stan’s past roles include Roger (Grease), Aldolpho (The Drowsy Chaperone), and
Moonface (Anything Goes). Stan would like to thank all of the cast and crew for always spreading a little sunshine and for all of the simple joys and the magic they do everyday. Break legs everybody!!!

Membership And Involvement
The Livingston Theatre Company is open to all undergraduate students of Rutgers University, regardless of college affiliation or major. We encourage all students to take part in productions, and to attend our open meetings, special events, shows, and auditions. We have opportunities for actors, directors, designers, stage crew, musicians, business people, and student leaders. Each year, hundreds of students from across the university get involved in our main stage productions. If you are interested come to our General Interest Meeting during the opening weeks of each semester, or to any of our open General Board meetings throughout the year.
Productions
The Livingston Theatre Company produces three musicals per year. Our productions run for several performances over one weekend. Throughout our storied history, productions have taken place in both the College Hall of the Livingston Student Center (the new and old), as well as Crossroads Theater in the theater district of downtown New Brunswick, New Jersey. We are dedicated to bringing both famous and lesser known musicals to Rutgers.
Student Leadership
The Livingston Theatre Company is completely run by undergraduate students are Rutgers in New Brunswick from all schools. The head of the company is a 4 member Executive Board, which is elected by the membership, and a General Board that is chosen through applications and interviews. Anyone may apply, and selection is based upon experience and enthusiasm. Production positions such as directors, choreographers, musical directors, stage managers, and designers and technicians are also filled for specific shows via application and interviews. Anyone interested in becoming a part of the company, in any position, should check out the Getting Involved links at the top of the page for more information.
Ltc Alumni
After a storied history, the LTC has established a strong base of alumni who continue their support to the organization. We always love having our alumni back, and enjoy a strong support system from them as well.
