Our spring issue celebrated Long Island ladies, so it’s only fair to shine a spotlight on Long Island men this summer!

With that in mind, we spoke with Kane, owner and Master Hair Stylist of Salon Eden, one of the best full-service salons in our area that caters to men, women, and children.

A native of England, Kane started hairdressing in 1983 when he served as an apprentice to the world renowned hairdresser, Vidal Sassoon, in posh Sloane Square, London. He further honed his skills working alongside the famed “Leonard of Mayfair”, hairdresser to the stars, celebrities, and rich and famous, which provided Kane the opportunity to work on movie sets and TV commercials.

A job offer in New York brought Kane to the USA in 1991. “It was supposed to be for two years,” Kane said, “but I started a family. I was here to stay. Upon settling in Islip, I knew it was time for me to start my own business. In 2008, I opened Salon Eden.”

The staff at Salon Eden is made up of highly-trained master stylists who participate in continuing education with the goal of becoming one of the best in the business. The foundation of Salon Eden’s success is rooted in education; their staff is up to date with all of the latest techniques, trends and products in hair color and specialty treatments.

“We service all aspects of women’s hair…cuts, smoothing systems, fashion color, balayage, corrective color, gray touch ups. Your hair is in good hands here,” said Kane.

Popular with the gentlemen, a large percentage of Salon Eden’s clients are male.

“We do see a lot of students, but the largest portion of the men we see are discerning successful professionals,” stated Kane. “We cater to every man’s hair styling requirements; we are able to offer traditional barbering techniques along with nontraditional longer men’s styling. Our hair coloring services, specifically designed just for men, result in a natural look…only our client and his stylist would know he is coloring his hair. Most popular is our grey-blending ten minute service. Fashion color is also trending and available for our younger male audience. “

The vibe at Salon Eden is tranquil. This relaxed atmosphere is a direct result of Kane’s approach to his business. Kane and his select team believe there is a standard they are to uphold; they focus on listening to client’s needs and on providing personalized attention. It’s this mindset that has given Salon Eden’s clients an expectation of quality and service when they walk into the salon. GRAHAM

Packing over 30 + years in the industry, Graham has worked as a stylist and educator in Manhattan, as well as abroad in Hong Kong, Singapore and Bermuda. He is proficient in all types of hair, styling, and techniques.

MARY

A master stylist with over 10 years of experience, Mary is also a traditionally trained barber, having perfected her skills at the iconic Truman’s Gentlemen’s Groomers in NYC.

CHRISTINA

Christina specializes in hair color and all the latest coloring techniques. In addition to her 15 years as a stylist and colorist, she is also a talented and accomplished make-up artist.

MARCUS

Marcus was on staff when Salon Eden first opened and has recently rejoined the team! A 25 year veteran in the industry, Marcus is highly accomplished in all aspects of hairdressing.

DAYNA

Our junior stylist, Dayna is very skilled at working with all types of hair. We look forward to her graduating to a master stylist!
