Insights at Spinavita Chiropractic

Recent data shows that 80% of the nation will experience back pain at some point in their lifetime. This Chiropractic Awareness Week (17-21 April), we’re encouraging you to take back your back health.

10 million people are currently living with back pain in the UK. Research by the British Chiropractic Association found only 10% of people experiencing symptoms sought support from a GP or Chiropractor, with 46% of people not taking any steps at all to tackle their back pain, indicating a large portion of the population is still living with daily symptoms.

If you currently have low back pain, evidence suggests avoiding bed rest, using a back belt and taking Paracetamol as it is not effective and has potentially harmful side effects.

Treatments for low back pain that are encouraged and supported include:

Manual therapy such as the treatment provided by our Spinavita Chiropractors along with education and exercise as part of a “package” of care.

Taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) such as Ibuprofen at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time, only when necessary.

Engaging in exercises that targets improvements in function and preventing things worsening.
