‘Effective Communication’ An Overriding Factor For Success

hange can never be ‘cascaded’ from the top. Informal channels are mostly used for organizational communication.

All of us acknowledge that a lot of initiatives in organizational change fail or do not deliver the results desired. But yet we attempt with the same approach time and again expecting different outcomes - the very definition of madness, according to Albert Einstein. But bad communication results in a failure during times of change more often than not.

So what is the best way to effectively communicate the change to achieve acceptance, buy-in and continued performance? Particularly, if without the involvement of the whole organization or frontline employees the change has been defined.According to a study, 90 percent of the organizational conversations is

driven about by 3 percent of the employees.

The key ingredients: The core change story, an elevator pitch, and three key messages – telling the story of the change journey and destination; with the flexibility to add team/local context. This change journey needs to be clearly mapped: starting point, destination, milestone markers, clear timelines , clear definition of success.

Having a thorough understanding of who your audiences and stakeholders are, and being aware of what they require.

R for a long time now has been marketed as an escape from reality.

In numerous cases, this has been structured in almost dystopian terms, with futurists predicting an era where many of us will choose hanging out in highly perfect virtual worlds over trying to improve the awed real world. These include a beach, an open landscape illuminated by the aurora borealis, an underwater scene, and also a prairie inhabited by a grazing herd of buffalo. It has formerly found application helping people encounter sickle cell disease, back pain, anxiety, burns, surgery pains, and various other kinds of chronic pain, aside from its emerging use in childbirth.

This excellent start for VR clarifies that in the years to come it will be increasingly used in managing pain. This will not only be in specific medical and clinical settings, but also in the home, as around 20% of Americans live with chronic pain, while around 8% live with more severe varieties. Simultaneously, the fact that even video games have been found to ease pain (which are already enormously popular) indicates that many people will end up palliating themselves even without realizing it, making VR-based video games particularly addictive.

The more widespread use of VR for pain relief can't come soon enough for such reasons. However, virtual reality generally remains an expensive medium though there is an increasing number of companies launching that offer VR-based pain management (e.g. applied VR, Firsthand Technology, and CognifiSense). By the end of 2019, only 8.9 million VR headsets are forecast to have been sold in total, highlighting how the technology remains out of reach of the vast majority of us.

Yoga and Stress: Stress should not be automatically be considered, a scourge of the modern times. A certain amount of short-term stress (acute stress) can be considered a useful component or tool.

However, when stress becomes constant and a person cannot go back to homeostasis– then the external factors are considered a negative and

ineffective; If the stressor remains constant (chronic stressors) – the body will attempt to readjust and cope with the stress i.e. maintain the 'fight'/adaptive response. However, if the stress remains and goes beyond the body's ability to cope indefinitely, the body's resources will gradually diminish. 'Exhaustion' where the body's resources have been depleted with trying to cope with the stress.

The body is unable to maintain normal function, which in the short term may mean the reappearance of the initial autonomic nervous system symptoms – such as sweating, breathlessness, rapid heartbeat etc. and in the long term exhausting and possible impairment to the immune system and reducing the capacity of the glands, especially the adrenal glands.

The physical response to stress is more energy is used and so stored up glucose in the liver is used (sugar levels increase) and so with more glucose, more oxygen is also needed and so resulting in the breath being faster. Blood pressure also goes up and the heart rate increases and increase in sweating. Also, stiffness of muscles, pupil dilates, senses go into a higher awareness.

These reactions all occur to help cope with the situation. If the body cannot re-establish balance and go back to normal (homeostasis) after the stress.
