THE LATEST SCOOP ON... Welcome to our first color digital edition of the MAY issue of THE LATEST SCOOP® In this issue you’ll find the artwork of the talented George Trosley of Woodlyn, PA! George believes being raised in the ‘50’s and ‘60’s in Southern California made it easy for “the art thing” to turn into a growing “hot rod thing” to form an odd combination of “India Ink and gasoline.” You might recognize George’s work which has appeared in many publications over the years. Readers of Old Cars Weekly will recognize his Tool Box ‘Toons creations and readers of Car Craft will recognize his comic strip, Krass & Bernie. George is not currently accepting commissions, but you can purchase his books and some of your favorite prints at his website www.GeorgeTrosley.com Special thanks to George for sharing his art with us! Thanks for your support as we begin this exciting new chapter after 35 years of publishing in print. The increasing costs of production, printing and mailing costs, as well as the removal of magazine racks in grocery stores forced this change. Please contact us at info@scoopautoevents.com We are saddened to report the passing of Scott “Scotty” Garcia, owner of American Steel Street Rods in Garden City (Greeley), CO on January 25, 2025. He loved hot rods, car show & drag racing events. His favorite car was the 1932 Deuce Coupe. Scott was a big supporter of THE LATEST SCOOP® and always bought a sponsor ad on the NSRA Rocky Mountain Area Rod Run Schedule. Services took place at Adamson Life Celebration Home on February 5th. He will be missed. The Colorado Vintage Oval Racers recently lost one of their founding members, Derek Lewin. Derek was a passionate and knowledgeable follower of vintage midget racing and his depth of knowledge of its history was unmatched. He shared his knowledge in hundreds of articles for Open Wheel and Vintage Oval Racing magazines. Derek attended the first meeting in 1998 when the CVOR was founded and enjoyed the hobby with his wife Dion. He will be missed. The Aurora History Museum is asking for memories, stories, photos or videos of the Century 21 International Speedway which was located in Aurora, CO from 1971-1973. The multi-purpose racing complete featured a quarter mile drag strip as well as a paved oval with a figure-8 track.
