The Economy does not Grow in Dark?

ost of India sleeps at night and overlooks the nighttime economy. According to most, the nightlife is the shady time of life, where only parties, bars, rash driving, gang fights, and crime take place. Adding the permission issues of law and order, the retails establishments have a hard time to remain open till late. In addition, one can tell that the economy slows down at around 10:30 PM, except for restaurants and bars, which open till around 2 AM. Such scenarios are a serious problem where the policy environment and conventional wisdom does not understand the nighttime economy as the opportunities for growth. And, if one were to call the cities as the growth engines of the country, then they are only functioning at three-quarters of the time. We should utilize the so-called nightlife and entertainment as a support in running the nighttime economy and not the other way around.

Let us examine if 10 cities contribute to around 4000 cr. of the country's 3-lakh cr. GDP and if nighttime adds 6% to urban output, then this amounts to an additional .8% of GDP. This number is enough to draw 2 million people out of poverty.

Various countries such as Singapore and China are already awake and are using this opportunity to their advantage. There is a need to revise the view of nightlife not merely as a concession and immoral but as a necessary solution to our jobs.

We need to consider beyond parties and clubs and think about driving cabs at night and opening up our shops, banks, public transport, and government offices. Additional output can develop from new economic activities by extra shifts, businesses, and models.

Nightlife economy highly depends on the government, which only has the permit to it.

Without effective policing, street lighting, and public transport, it is impossible for the after-dark economy to sustain. Ultimately, the nighttime economy benefits in boosting the country's economy along with urban governance during both day and night. T R

ommerce education is the field of study that assists students in acquiring the required proficiency, techniques, and perspective in regulating the business, trade, and the industry.

In 2017, SRM established the fourth institute in Amaravati, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh. SRM AP began as an engineering school in 2017 with three engineering disciplines of C.S.E., E.C.E. and Mechanical. Civil and E.E.E. disciplines were added in 2018. he origin of Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences (KITS) dates back to the year 1986. At that time, it was only functioning as an Engineering College, being affiliated to the Bharathiyar University. entoring is the art of shaping minds, to harness greater productivity and wellbeing from individuals and teams, by understanding and using the principles of nature, in conjunction with the science of human psychology.

It is not just about teaching an individual few subjects in a Classroom to help them score better marks. In fact, recent surveys conducted by credible sources suggest that more than 85% of the fresh Graduates in India are unable to make an informed career choice by the time they pass out from their college. And, the number would be similar if a survey is conducted among the Employed folks, to know their vision with regard to their career development.

Today, we are operating in highly dynamic workplace environments. The speed of innovation is such that, most of the technologies of yesterday are becoming obsolete today.

However, the laws of nature, be it for the world within us or outside us, will always remain the same.

Hence, mentoring demands the Mentor to operate at a totally different plane of self-awareness so that, one can assimilate the world outside from a vantage point of higher consciousness.

Like a Quality Control (QC) department in an Organization needs QC control for its own development, similarly, a Mentor too needs continuous self-development, whether in a company or an institute or as an individual practitioner.

The corporate world needs results and, it doesn’t matter if the result is delivered by a Ph.D or a B.Sc., as long as the objective is achieved. What is ‘Sales’ to a Company, ‘Placements’ is to an Educational Institute. It’s the backbone which helps Organizations to aspire to grow by leaps and bounds.

Therefore, in a professional establishment, be it a Company or an Institute, advancing the Mentor’s growth is extremely critical, in order to achieve holistic learning and development for the Organization. Hence, facilitating Faculty Development Programmes, Train the Trainer Programmes, Management and Leadership Development Programmes on a regular basis, is of utmost importance, in the interest of the Organizational wellbeing.

Building a system where in, learning and development is on an auto-pilot mode, is what the leadership of any organization aspires to achieve. A leader, who is also considered as a mentor by his folks, can’t afford to take impulsive decisions based on fit of rage. One hasty decision from a leader would not only ruin an individual’s career but also, would displace an individual’s dependent family out of grid.

Ego is a big spoil sport in most cases, when it comes to nurturing an Organizational culture of openness and greater synergy. Most of the times, the top leadership is unable to accept and groom the emerging leaders down the ranks. In most workplaces, the top-leadership sees such individuals with high potential as a threat to their own existence and hence, are snubbed down or worst, are chucked out.

Another extremely important quality of a Mentor and a Leader is the ability to resolve conflicts within teams and the Organization. Any workplace which has passionate people in action, is bound to churn out intense difference of opinions. An able Mentor would by all means, be in a position to channelize the high voltage energies from various individuals towards a higher common purpose, there by building greater synergy in the team.

Mentoring is not just for an individual but for teams and Organizations. Hence, an Organization requires Mentors at various levels. A wonderful demo-type system to learn from is the Indian Armed Forces, where in, Mentoring the Mentor happens naturally as part of the Organizational culture. Options after Commerce education The Indian education trend is such that, students opting for commerce education amount to 16 percent as compared to 40 percent of students opting for Arts and 19 percent students choosing the science background. It is observed that when a student joins the commerce stream, he has in mind that he will surely choose to pursue a post graduation i.e. an M.Com, an LLB or a professional course such as CA, ICWA or CS. He may also be preparing for an admission to a premier institute for managerial studies either by opting for a PGDM, MMS or an MBA programme. In fact, a commerce student has a great deal of options subsequent to his graduation and looking at the existing scenario in the job market, he can select a particular course or specialization by opting for a PGDM, MMS or MBA programme.

Selection of a specialization also depends upon the trend that is prevalent in the job market or what he/she is good at, either in Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations or Supply chain management. After pursuing these degrees or courses following a graduation in Commerce, the student is more likely to be industry ready and can start at better positions and superior designations with excellent pay packages as well.

The other indirect advantage here is that after following his/her graduation, opting for a Post graduation degree in commerce and management will inspire the student to start a business and become an Entrepreneur. He has many research publications on his credit and 5 ď€ led patents. His research interest is Computer Aided Design, Robotics, Mechanical Vibrations and Noise and Education Technology. He is trained soft skill trainer and working on various stress management techniques. He is also a member of various technical societies and reviewer of many international journals. STRESS MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES FOR STUDENTS

S

tress is a response to sudden or frequent changes in your lifestyle like changing locations, habits or in general your daily routine. It is observed that, most of the students are not following their daily routine due to their involvement in entertaining world such as television, mobile etc. Perhaps they treat this as a most preferred in their life. Previously, entertainment media was different and time allotted was also limited thereby students used to get quality time to spend with their friends and relatives. When the body or mind is not ready to accept the change, we feel stressed. There are many causes of stress which ultimately lead to divert a person from his /her life goals. Repetitive exposure to stress will lead to long lasting psychological disorders and severe physical health issues related to heart, kidney etc. Eliminating stress in today’s world is not at all possible due to many reasons but one can be trained to manage the stress at different levels.

There are many factors which are responsible for increase in stress levels now days like lack of physical activities, participation in common platforms, eating habits, poor time management etc. Stress management in students is the first and important step. Students, if trained, can respond to any stress levels throughout their life. Acting wisely to respond stress is an effective way to manage the level of stress and is majorly depends on mental toughness. Identify the source of stress or practice to recognize the bad signals at the early stage and then be prepared to attack is the best strategy considered to manage the stress at different levels. There are many solutions to reduce the stress levels at different

stages of life. Physical fitness must be given the first priority to withstand any kind of stress. Exercise like breathing techniques, yoga etc will reduce the pressure and boost the response when in stress.

Second factor responsible for not sustaining the stress value is openness. Students do not prefer to open up about their problems with their parents, friends, relatives etc. This is reducing the comfort zone area and lowering the chances of solving the problems at initial stage. It is always preferable to solve the problems at initial stage only and that requires lesser energy too. So, spend quality time with your family and friends, if possible.

Third factor which is most dangerous is changing eating habits in recent years. Students mainly prefer ready packaged foods. Fast food or junk food will not provide energy required to withstand the pressure. Regular eating at specific time is a right step to manage stress at any specific level of life.

All the students must learn and adopt time management technique to reduce the stress. Last minute rush to complete the assigned activity will unnecessarily increase stress. It is observed that, most of the students need to practice time management right from the graduation level to keep the pressure away.

Let us change the way we live everyday and be positive to handle the heat and don’t accept the slow change in pressure acceptance building around you.
