Getting Started...

Expression of Interest To express your interest in marrying at The King’s School Memorial Chapel please contact the Reverend Geoff Everett by email: geverett@kings.edu.au Services of Marriage are offered to King’s School Old Boys and those with a direct connection to The King’s School Community at the discretion of the Headmaster. Once approved, you will meet informally with our Community Chaplain so you can get to know each other. This is the time to ask any questions about your Service. As an Anglican School the Ministry of the Chapel comes under the authority of the Sydney Anglican Diocese. It is preferred that a Chaplain of The King’s School officiates over the ceremony. In rare instances the Bishop may give approval to an outside Minister with qualifications consistent with those in the Sydney Anglican Diocese.

Booking Mrs Jo-Anne Kite will coordinate bookings, payment and official paperwork. Contact by phone: (02) 9683 8434 or email: jkite@kings.edu.au. Once an enquiry has been lodged, she will get back to you with the availability of the date and time requested. Before booking your Wedding Reception venue, please ensure that both the Memorial Chapel and a Chaplain of the School are available to officiate at your Service. To reserve your preferred date payment must be made in full. You will then receive a letter confirming your booking for your Service.

Marriage Requirements • A ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ form must be completed no less than one month, and no more than eighteen months prior to the Wedding date. • Consent to the Marriage must be given individually by both the Bride and Groom prior to the Notice of Intended Marriage form being signed by the officiating Minister. • The Birth Certificates and photo identification of both the Bride and Groom must be sighted by the officiating Minister at the time the Notice of Intended Marriage form is signed. • A Declaration of No Legal Impediment Form will be provided by the officiating Minister and must be signed by both the Bride and Groom before the Wedding ceremony. This is usually done at the rehearsal.

Photos

Rehearsal

Photography on the grounds and within the Chapel is permitted. We are happy for photos to be taken prior to, during and after the ceremony, but we ask that flash photography be kept to a minimum. We also ask that other buildings on the property are not entered, as many of these buildings are home to students and staff.

A rehearsal will usually be held during the week prior to the Wedding Service. The time will need to be confirmed with the officiating Minster or Chaplain. It is helpful for the bridal party to be in attendance.

Alcohol/Smoking

To view the Chapel, please make arrangements with the Officiating Chaplain. Viewing times will be outside School hours.

Alcohol is not to be consumed in or around the Chapel and its surrounding area. Smoking is also not permitted in any part of the School.

We had the perfect wedding day at The King’s School – every part of it was elegant, beautiful and magical. The sandstone Chapel is breathtaking and historic, and we were very impressed and grateful for the ceremony service provided by the School’s Chaplain. The grounds of King’s and Gowan Brae also provided a timeless and stunning backdrop for our wedding photos. We would absolutely recommend saying ‘I do’ at The King’s School.” – Saxby Brown (‘97) 9

“

We knew that we wanted to get married in The King’s School Chapel. My time at King’s, and the fact that I met my wife Caitlin during my last two years at school, made it wonderful to go back to where it all started. The ceremony was intimate and personal, setting up the day perfectly. The beauty and heritage of the Chapel itself made it a stunning occasion that we will remember the rest of our lives.” – Joseph De La Hoyde (‘09) 10
