As the Florida Panthers prepare to raise another championship banner, I am reminded of Wayne Gretzky’s quote: “I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been ” While we celebrate our accomplishments, our focus remains on the future of where the puck is going.

As the Engineer of Record, KEITH is responsible for survey, planning, and civil engineering services, including site plan development, water and sewer systems, paving for both airside and landside areas, and specialized infrastructure such as Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) storage and an airside pollution prevention system. The team is also modifying the airport’s Master Drainage Plan and updating the OPF Watershed 4 ICPR model to reflect the proposed improvements. The paving and drainage systems are designed to contain AFFF runoff in the event of a fire, and all components grit chambers, pipes, and oil/water separators are sized to meet Miami-Dade Aviation Division (MDAD) standards The airside apron is being engineered using FAARFIELD to accommodate aircraft exceeding 100,000 pounds, in compliance with FAA requirements

Civil engineering has always been about solving problems, how to move people, manage water, build safely, and shape the spaces we inhabit But the problems are changing, and so are the engineers who solve them.
At KEITH, we believe the next generation of civil engineers will be defined not just by their technical expertise, but by their ability to think holistically, collaborate across disciplines, and design with purpose. The future demands more than precision, it demands vision.
Digital Fluency and the Rise of Intelligent Infrastructure
Civil engineering is undergoing a digital transformation Today’s engineers must be fluent in technologies beyond traditional CAD tools like BIM, GIS, LiDAR, and real-time analytics are now essential The next evolution is intelligent infrastructure: systems that can sense, respond, and adapt to changing conditions.
Artificial intelligence is reshaping how we plan design and maintain infrastructure From predictive

R w goes beyond durability; it’s about flexibility, redundancy, and foresight.
At KEITH, we design infrastructure that adapts and evolves. From stormwater systems to transportation networks and public spaces, our work anticipates change and supports communities through disruption. Resilience is not just a feature it’s a philosophy embedded in everything we build.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration and the Power of Placemaking
The most impactful projects are built through collaboration. Civil engineers today work alongside architects, planners, ecologists, and technologists to create spaces that are not only functional, but meaningful
Placemaking is central to this approach Engineers now help shape experiences like designing walkable downtowns, waterfront parks, and transit-oriented developments that connect people to place. It’s about empathy, creativity, and context At KEITH, we believe the next generation of engineers will be connectors that bridge disciplines and communities to create places that inspire.
Communication, Leadership, and Lifelong Learning
Engineers must translate complex ideas into clear, compelling stories whether presenting to stakeholders, engaging the public, or leading diverse teams
Modern leadership is about initiative, empathy, and guiding others through uncertainty. Tomorrow’s engineers will lead by listening, learning, and lifting others
With constant change in technology and society, continuous learning is key. Engineers who embrace growth will shape the future.
The future of civil engineering is about more than what we build; it’s about how we think, connect, and lead. At KEITH, we ’ re proud to support a new generation of engineers who combine technical expertise with vision, collaboration, and purpose.
Whether you ' re a student exploring the field, a professional seeking your next challenge, or a community partner ready to collaborate, KEITH invites you to help shape a resilient and innovative tomorrow. Together, we ’ re building infrastructure that makes a lasting impact
