Apostle Chika Onuzo, Pastor & Eulogist
Her Birth: On September 13, 1965, God sent a beautiful gift to Hattie B. Davis and Arthur Lee Davis. Wendy was born in Memphis, Tennessee as the 1st child of six children.
Her Education: In Gary, Indiana, Wendy attended Ivanhoe Elementary, Edison Middle School, and she was a 1984 graduate of West Side High School. Later, Wendy attended Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana, with studies in Marketing and Interior Designs. She obtained a certificate from Career Blazers Learning Center in Atlanta, Georgia as a PC Specialist.
Her Profession: Wendy enriched the lives of many children as a Teacher at Harvest Rain Early Learning Academy and was a talented Seamstress at A1 Alterations in Buckhead, Georgia. For the last 13 years, she has been a Customer Service Representative at DHL Express.
Her Commitment to Christ: Wendy received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age while attending Open Door Church of God Refuge in Christ Inc., in Gary, Indiana, under the Stewardship of Pastor Bennett. In 1989, she joined Body of Christ Christian Church, under the Leadership of Pastor Joseph M. Ripley and served in the Children’s Ministry (working with the babies) and the Adult Choir. As she continued in her walk with Christ, Wendy became a member of Resurrection House For All Nations under the Leadership of Apostle Chika Onuzo in 2018. She actively served in the Bereavement Department.
Her Passion: Wendy ‘adored’ shopping. She loved stylish clothes, jewelry, purses, perfumes and shoes. Always matching from head to toe, she was a “true fashionista”. She and her husband would often coordinate their attire to match one another. As a designer, she had a talent for creating original clothing, as well as interior decorating. Wendy was compassionate, caring, nurturing, loving, kind and thoughtful. These are just a few words that would describe our beloved Wendy.
Her Family: Family was very important to Wendy. She dearly loved, respected and honored her parents, Arthur and Hattie, who taught her the ways of God and how to walk and serve Jesus Christ. Many loving attributes and gifts were instilled in Wendy from her mother, which shaped her into the woman of God we loved.
Her Union with Michael L. Ward though their journey together started in Atlanta, Georgia. Around 1989, they became members of the Body of Christ Christian Church. On July 24th, 1993, their union of love was joined together in holy matrimony. Committed to each other, Wendy always made certain that the love she had for her husband Michael was at the forefront of her heart. They each served in various Ministry of Help departments to the glory of God.
Her Departure: Early Wednesday morning September 10th, Wendy was received by the angels of God into the bosom of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Her Legacy: Wendy was preceded in death by both Parents, Arthur Lee Davis and Hattie B. Davis, as well as Four Aunts and Two Uncles. She leaves to cherish her memories, Loving Husband, Michael L. Ward (Fairburn, GA). Sisters and Brothers: Gwendolyn Chatman (Omari) Minneapolis, MN, Marlene Davis (Elvis) Atlanta, GA, Arthur “Lee” Davis Jr. (Jennifer) Minneapolis, MN, Taiwan Davis (Atlanta, GA, and Jeremy “Bae Bae” Davis (Dyersburg, TN), Four Aunts, Three Uncles, Six Nieces, Eight Nephews, and a host of Cousins, Grand Nieces and Nephews, Family and dearly loved Friends and goddaughter Tee.
