“I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness. Which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day and not to me only, but unto all of them also that love his appearing.” -2 Timothy 4:7-8 (KJV)

Sherry Darlene Bouyer Thompson was born to Luther and Mattie Bouyer on March 23, 1954 in Toledo, Ohio. Sherry confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio.
Sherry graduated from Scott High School in Toledo, Ohio where she participated in sports but what she really loved was being a member of Scott’s award winning marching band. Sherry would watch other bands over the years and would say “they can’t touch Scott.” Sherry loved her job at Western and Delta Airlines and she was always happy to share her benefits with her family and friends.
Sherry was the ultimate sports Mom and Aunt as she would attend all the softball, basketball, football, AAU and other activities that her daughters, grandchildren, nieces and nephews would participate in. Sherry loved traveling (China, Italy, Spain, France, Caribbean, England, South Africa) and especially enjoyed driving to Nashville and all over the Southeast to watch her oldest grandson Taurean play football at Vanderbilt University. She also traveled to Warner, OK and Savannah State to watch her youngest daughter Shaunte play basketball. She was a 20+ year season ticket holder for the Atlanta Falcons and even though they would break her heart every year she never gave up on them.
On October 3, 1992, Sherry married Fleming Thompson, Jr. and they joined Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church where Fleming was the youth minister. When Fleming became an ordained Elder they served at St. Luke United Methodist Church and Bethlehem United Methodist Church and Sherry officially became a “First Lady.” Every church that Fleming was affiliated with loved Sherry and she became active in all Church activities. She was especially active in the Breast Cancer Awareness Month to help bring attention to that cause.
One of the joys of Sherry’s life was taking care of her Mother (along with Fleming) in her later years. Even though they were always fussing (smile) she always said she would not have traded those years for anything.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents Luther Bouyer and Mattie Mae Bouyer Rice, her sweet nephew Darren Michael and her bonus daughter Lynne Thompson. She leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy her husband Fleming Thompson, Jr., her children Crystal Terrelle “Ferguson” Burden, Shanel Renee Carter, Shaunte Renee Carter Hodges (Kenya), her bonus children Fleming Lamar Thompson and Kaylee Thompson, Siblings Wanda Thomas (Barry), Victor Bouyer, Shawn Bouyer (Brandy), Lisa Rice, her loving Aunt Annie Carey Wilson, Aunt Lenora Barry (Earl), Aunt Esther Gayle, Uncle Christopher Gayle (Yvonne), Aunt Viola Davis and Uncles Charles Bouyer, Jessie Bouyer and Eli Bouyer, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
To God Be the Glory for 71 years.
