REFLECTIONS OF LIFE Terry Lawrence Jennings, affectionately known as "TJ," transitioned from this life on April 26, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on September 17, 1962, in Queens, New York, to the late Richard Oliver Tunnell and Georgia Ann Collins, Terry was a man whose life was defined by faith, service, and song.

Terry received Christ into his life at a young age while attending Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Tallapoosa, Georgia. He graduated from Haralson County High School in Tallapoosa, where he was a talented athlete and became a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He went on to DeVry Institute of Technology, where he received a degree in electrical technology. During his educational journey, he attended the Interdenominational Theological Center to study theology and pastoral care. This journey laid the foundation for his lifelong ministry.

Terry truly possessed the heart to serve others. He worked consistently and persistently for the Red Cross and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution throughout his career, but his true love emerged when he began his adventure with the Henry County School System. Known warmly as "Mr. Jennings," he was a cornerstone of his campus, admired equally by the students he mentored and the colleagues he supported.

Terry’s life was deeply rooted in his devotion to God. Ordained as Reverend Terry Jennings at Wheat Street Baptist Church under the late Rev. Dr. Michael Harris, he served as an Associate Minister for 20 years.

Rev. Jennings had a tremendous love and skill for worshiping through song. He sang God's praises in several ensembles and choirs, most notably with the Wheat Street Gospel Choir. He also lent his talents to the Atlanta Classic Soulful Symphony, directed by the acclaimed Minister Roy Dallas. Rev. Jennings often spent his leisure time composing songs to the glory of God. A family favorite is "Praise Every Day," a divine inspiration given to him at a young age that exemplified how he lived his life. Combining his love for people and his theological background, he later founded Give Life Consulting Inc., where he specialized in marital and family counseling.

Terry was preceded in death by his stepfather, Philip Arthur Jennings; his brothers, James Timothy Lee Briskey, David "Muff" Glasco and Quincy Walker; his sister, Sharon Tunnell; and his brother-in-law, Straiton Hard.

Rev. Terry Jennings leaves to cherish his loving memory the apple of his eye and the light of his life, his daughter Lauren Jennings; his siblings: Deirdre Hard, Philip Jennings Jr., Cassandra Snyder (Freddie), Vanessa Wallace (Greg), Charlotte Phillips (Steven), David Tunnell, Curtis Tunnell, Pamela Hall, Shannon Sims, and Tachanna Chism; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and comrades.
