She attended Northwestern High School in Miami, Florida, and continued her education at Miami Dade Community College, where she earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. Her educational journey reflected her commitment to learning, personal growth, and her desire to contribute meaningfully to her community. Ossie was a woman who could light up a room without ever asking for attention. She possessed a fashionable style that was uniquely her own, a sense of humor that could bring laughter even in difficult moments, and dance moves that reflected the joy she carried within her. She had a beautiful spirit, warm, genuine, and full of life. But beyond her style, humor, and unforgettable personality, Ossie’s greatest gift was her heart. She was compassionate, helpful, and deeply committed to the well-being of others. She loved her community and believed in making a difference through the everyday acts of kindness that often mean the most. A Heart Dedicated to Helping Others An avid reader, Ossie understood the transformative power of knowledge. Her love of reading led her to volunteer with Literacy Action, where she dedicated her time to teaching adults how to read. Through this work, she helped open doors, build confidence, and create opportunities for people who simply needed someone to believe in them.
Her compassion extended beyond the classroom. Alongside her daughter, Janine, she helped feed and clothe individuals experiencing homelessness, offering not only essential necessities but also dignity, care, and a reminder that they mattered.
Ossie also dedicated herself to helping keep the citizens of Atlanta safe, reflecting her commitment to public service and the well-being of her community. Whether through her professional contributions or her personal acts of kindness, she consistently demonstrated that helping others was not simply something she did, it was woven into the very fabric of who she was.
