It is with deep love and gratitude for his life that we announce the passing of Elias Douglas Lee III, who entered eternal rest on Sunday March 29, 2026, in Nevis, West Indies. Elias (Doug) was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 15, 1974, to Elias Jr. and Marie Lee. From an early age, Elias was immersed in an environment that valued education and academic excellence, laying the foundation for his lifelong pursuit of knowledge.
Elias's educational journey began at Atlanta Montessori School, Southwest, where he thrived in the open-ended learning environment. His teacher noted that his personality was perfectly suited for the Montessori approach. After receiving his diploma-proudly dressed in his little white cap and gown-he continued his education at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in downtown Atlanta. In this more structured and disciplined setting, Elias continued to excel. Always scholarly, he never needed reminders to complete his homework. His afternoons were often spent at the YMCA under the guidance of Mr. Winston. Even at a young age, his leadership and strong work ethic were evident, earning him the Winston Scholarship for a summer session.
Elias later attended Benjamin E. Mays Science Academy, where he began during a summer session to get a head start on the required science project for admission. His electric car project earned top honors at Mays and advanced him to the county-level competition. He continued to excel academically and was recognized in Who's Who Among American High School Students. Elias was a proud graduate of Morehouse College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He furthered his education at Georgia State University, earning two master's degrees in different areas of technology-fields that would shape and define his professional career.
Elias built a distinguished career in Information Technology, dedicating over 20 years to the field of Project Management. Known for his analytical mind, attention to detail, and steady leadership, he successfully guided complex initiatives and earned the respect of colleagues and peers throughout his career.
Elias's affiliations reflected his commitment to leadership and service. He was a dedicated member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. (Spring 99 Initiate) where he served as 31st Polemarch, Atlanta (GA) Alumni Chapter and he was also a proud Mason (Eden Lodge #46, Free and Accepted Masons, Marietta, Georgia, Atlanta Masonic District No. 3 West, Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, Jurisdiction of Georgia). Passionate about giving back, Elias volunteered as a swimming instructor for young children and served as Vice President of the St Kitts Nevis Aquatics Federation.
Elias's faith was an important part of his life and foundation. He grew up at Cascade Church, where he was baptized by Rev. Kimbrough. He faithfully attended and completed his Saturday morning Confirmation classes and was later received into the church by Rev. Kimbrough. During his youth, he was an active member of the Coming Generation Choir, directed by Ms. Karen Lowery, where he joyfully participated in worship through music. After graduating from college, Elias returned to Cascade Church and continued his service as a member of the Young Men's Usher Board. He also dedicated his time to mentoring and supporting young people through his involvement with the Cascade Youth Group.
Elias will be remembered for his brilliant mind, his quiet strength, and his unwavering dedication to excellence in all that he pursued. Above all, he was a devoted and loving father to his four children, who were the pride and joy of his life. He touched the lives of many through his kindness, mentorship, and commitment to service. He also had a deep love for travel, embracing opportunities to explore new places, cultures, and experiences, which brought him great joy throughout his life. A lifelong Atlanta Falcons fan, Elias was a dedicated season ticket holder for 25 years, cherishing the tradition and camaraderie of attending games with his close friend, Mike. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his legacy of achievement, integrity, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him. His life stands as a testament to the power of education, perseverance, and giving back to others.
Elias is survived by his devoted life-partner Miranda, his mother, Marie; his sister; Wendy (Joseph); his beloved children; Ryan Jessie, Elias IV, Elijah, and Ethan; Aunts Eliza, Deloris, and Ella; along with a host of cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Elias Lee, Jr.
