Allene Smith was born on September 10, 1946, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Lovett and Mattie Lou Isom. She peacefully entered eternal rest on September 4, 2025, at the age of 78.
Allene accepted Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. She was a devoted member of Greater Moses Chapel Baptist Church, faithfully serving in Choir #2. She later worshiped at Buckhead Church until 2020 and continued attending services at her assisted living community in Peachtree City under the ministry of Pastor Peter and Carmen Jack.
Allene was one of seven siblings and was lovingly nurtured by her grandmother, Annie Lou Trice. She enjoyed cooking, playing games, reading, crafting, and even globetrotting including a memorable safari in Kenya. Always competitive and courageous, she was both a fighter and a protector of her family.
She graduated with distinction from George Washington Carver High School in 1964. The vocational program at Carver equipped her with skills in home care, sewing, cooking, child development, and personal finance. A prolific track and field athlete in high school, Allene ran the 4x4 relay, and hurdles. These foundations combined with her curiosity, determination, and love of nature helped shape a caring and adventurous life that touched countless others.
Above all, Allene was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She valued faith, hard work, caring for others, cleanliness, and the pursuit of dreams and she cherished her four-legged companions as family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Smith Jr., and her siblings George Isom, Kelly Isom (Beverly), Ann Styles, Patsy Tripp, and Ellsworth Isom.
She leaves to cherish her memory the kids”: Will and Kate; two children: James and Michael; Four grandchildren: LaShay, James (JB), Michael, and Isaiah; four great grandchildren: Makiyah, Zion, Jase, and C’loe; brother: Charles Evans; brother Reverend Charles T. Styles; nieces and nephews: Nedra, Kellette, Adron, Shadron, Selisia (Carl), Ayesha (Robert), Royshun, Robert (Jake), Monique, and Charles “Lil Charles” (Aja); and a host of cousins, relatives, and many friends.
Her legacy of faith, perseverance, and love will continue to live in our hearts.

Postlude

A mother's love is a guiding light,
In the darkest of nights, it shines so bright.
Her gentle touch, her soothing voice,
In her embrace, we find our joys.
Her love is a beacon, a steady shore,
In times of trouble, we long for more.
Though she is gone, her love remains, In our hearts, it forever reigns.
