The world shone a little brighter on the day Adrienne Narkiya McMurray Johnson came into it, and on the day she left, it dimmed in her absence though her light continues to glow in every heart she touched.
Adrienne, our beloved daughter, sister, mother, niece, cousin and friend, gathered her wings on October 31, 2025, at the age of 42 and flew to her forever heavenly home. June 6, 1983 was a glorious day when our baby girl announced her presence. Adrienne’s life was always marked by love, faith, resilience, compassion and an unshakable devotion to her family.
Baptized very early at Israel Missionary Baptist Church, under the guidance of Rev. William Smith, she participated in many of the youth groups and activities that planted the foundation of faith and nurtured her inner soul. Her educational journey included Stephenson High School and later graduating from Maranatha Christian Academy. Following her passion for healthcare, this compassionate but determined daughter furthered her education at Lincoln College of Technology, where she studied billing and coding.
Adrienne married her good friend Antoine Johnson. Together, they shared a deep bond and built a loving family. Adrienne was a motherly mother to their four beautiful children, whom she adored and supported wholeheartedly through all of their events and activities.
Her personality would light any dark room, she had warmth that wrapped around people like a blanket on a cold day. Friends often said that just being near her could lift a heavy spirit any time. Her laughter had music in it, and her smile had a way of making strangers feel like old friends. Adrienne was a devoted mother, and her children were her world. She poured her heart into every moment with them. Every hug, each story, every word of encouragement and advice was a patch of her love stitched into their lives to form the quilt to cover them for life. They were her greatest joy, her proudest accomplishment, and her most beautiful legacy.
A true entrepreneur at heart, Adrienne built several successful businesses across multiple fields including healthcare, tax preparation, and transportation. Her determination and ambition inspired those around her to pursue their dreams with courage and confidence.
Adrienne loved life deeply and embraced it with joy and adventure. She was known for her radiant spirit, her love of shopping and travel, and her ability to make everyone feel special in her presence. Those who knew Adrienne will remember her as beautiful inside and out, a compassionate soul whose loving nature was as natural as breathing. Whether she was offering a helping hand, sharing a heartfelt conversation, or simply lighting up a room with her presence, she always entered with purpose and perseverance.
Adrienne’s story is a story of love, unselfish, radiant, and enduring. Her spirit will live on through her children, her family, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness.
Adrienne leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will forever live in the hearts of those who graced her presence. Her memories will be forever cherished and shared by her supportive, protective and nurturing parents, Karey and Marguerita (Punkin) McMurray; and her beloved children, Kaylon Kameron McMurray, Antoine Deon Johnson Jr., Kimora Saniyah Tanjears Johnson, and Troy Xavier Edwards.
She also leaves to cherish and uphold her memories forever, her beautiful and loving sister, Adeana Tanjears Donaldson (Fernando); nephews, Robert Allen Fouch Jr. (Syntara) and Ryan Antonio Donaldson; and her precious great-nephews, Kaiden Allen Fouch and Chozen Allen Hakim Jamal Donaldson.
Adrienne shared a special bond with her aunts and uncles Julia Chatman (Maurice) and Tanzala Johns Lewis (Rest in Peace Horace), Beverly Jackson (Jack), Belinda Davenport, Deborah Harris (Charles). She will be lovingly remembered by all of her cousins including Charles, Venus, Morice, Kevin, Darius, and Marguerita. A host of family members who are too numerous to name will forever have “A” as she was affectionately known edged in our hearts. Friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and grace may you forever lift her family to God.
Adrienne’s radiant smile, unwavering faith, and boundless love will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know her. Though she has left this earthly home, her spirit will live on forever in the hearts of her family and loved ones. She now joins her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Groover Johns and Mother Dorothy (Lean) Mc Murray -Halleluiah!

Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
-John 14:1-3,27

OUR FATHER WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, HALLOWED BE THY NAME. THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE ON EARTH, AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD. AND FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS, AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS. AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION, BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL: FOR THINE IS THE KINGDOM, AND THE POWER, AND THE GLORY, FOR EVER. AMEN IN HALLOWED BE THY NAME. BE AS IS IN DAY FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS. BUT DELIVER FROM EVIL: EVER. AMEN
