Dear Members Its great to finally be able to put together a magazine of events and promotions for our members. 2022 has started on yet another rollercoaster with COVID related issues affecting our daily lives in almost every aspect but we need to start looking to living with our new reality as best we can. Our club has suffered like many other businesses during this time but we are committed to welcoming our members within the guidelines and rules that are set and as safely as possible. We are all hopeful that the next few months bring us more certainty, safety, and understanding of what lies ahead. I feel with over 95% of the population double vaccinated and now pushing on to triple vaccination we have done all we can to protect ourselves if we do catch the virus.

The NRL season is once again upon us and I am personally looking forward to a great year of NRL action and another strong year for the mighty Rabbitohs. With a new coach and a few changes to the playing group, it will be a new beginning and an opportunity for some of the young guns like Blake Taaffe to step up. The Juniors will be showing every Rabbitohs game in the Henry Morris Bar live and loud right throughout the whole season.

Live Entertainment I am very passionate about live entertainment and what our club has provided over the years in terms of major international and local artists who have performed at the Juniors. Our live entertainment program has been one of the most affected areas of the club’s operations in the last two years. We have managed to put together a reduced program of shows in the coming months for members enjoyment. With regulations regarding masks and

dancing heavily affecting these events we have endeavoured to provide a program that we feel comfortable presenting. Many of these shows were rescheduled when we had to close in June last year and have ticketholders from this period. I look forward to finally being able to have these shows on at the club and look forward to more in the months to come, especially welcoming back some of the great international acts that have not been able to travel and perform during this time. Hopefully we can have a dance too!

Stay Vigilant In light of steady high case numbers in NSW I remind our patrons to stay vigilant, to continue to practice COVID safe measures and to continue to scan into venues when required. As we have done all along, we will work with any advice provided from the government and adapt to situations as they arise if needed as we move through the different stage s of regulations and restrictions.

Welcome to the March edition of the Encore magazine. The next three months feature some great events, promotions, and activities for our loyal members to enjoy. Over the last month or so it has been very pleasing to see the club becoming busier and more vibrant each week. Our food outlets have been getting busier and they are eager to welcome you back to the club for a meal.

Recent times have affected staffing levels in many businesses but we are confident we can continue to provide great customer service to our patrons.

Clubs are a very safe option when considering where to socialise at the moment as we have much larger areas for our patrons which makes it easier to socially distance.

Comedy Night at Juniors Maroubra

Dine, Discover & STAY Vouchers!

Along with entertainment, our functions department has been busily ramping up their capabilities in line with government regulations and restrictions. There is a cautious optimism with our bookings for the second half of the year picking up and end of year events looking promising. Our function calendar is rapidly filling up so if you were thinking of holding any type of event this year you should not hesitate in contacting our function team via the website thejuniors.com.au or phoning the club on 9349-7555.

The Dine and Discover program continues to provide vouchers for both dining and entertainment. Many people have still not used their “Discover” vouchers and we would love you to use yours to see one of our great shows in the coming months. Another exciting Government initiative is the recently introduced “STAY” voucher.

Similar to Dine & Discover, the Stay vouchers will allow you to apply $50 towards the cost of accommodation in the coming months. These will be accepted at both Juniors on Hawkesbury and also our holiday flats at Forster. It’s a great incentive to book into either of these locations this year!

External Works the Juniors Kingsford Members would have noticed the scaffolding that is going up at the pointy end of the building and will eventually cover the front of the club. This is to enable us to remove all the silver-coloured cladding which has been found to be of a low fire risk. To ensure the highest standards of safety for members, visitors, and staff, this will be removed over the next 3-4 months and replaced with more suitable materials.

Everybody needs a laugh at the moment and we have been running our Juniors comedy nights in the Underground at Juniors Maroubra. These have proved to be a great night out with everyone who attends having a great time and providing excellent feedback. It’s a little different but very enjoyable. We have monthly events planned with information on page 5 of this magazine. Your Discover vouchers from Service NSW can be used to purchase tickets as well so you won’t even have to pay for the tickets!

Themed Trivia One of our success stories in early 2021 was the monthly “themed” trivia which is held on selected Wednesdays at Kingsford. With past themes such as Harry Potter and Disney proving popular, we have some other great themes coming including Marvel Trivia on March 16, Seinfeld on April 20 & The Simpsons on May 18. Bookings are recommended for the night due to the popularity and I would also advise to arrive early to get dinner ordered before the rush.

When you join the club you start off as a Base Member, which entitles you to a member’s discount on food and beverages, show tickets and fitness centre. By using your membership card when purchasing the above items as well as playing gaming machines, you earn points.

Transferring to your Ultim8 Card (reloadable EFTPOS card) in minimum amounts of $10 Bonus points earnt on gaming machine play can be used as Points to Play via a refund. Refer to P2P document
