As we step into the exciting energy of spring, I’d like to welcome you to this edition of our club magazine and take a moment to share some of the exciting events and updates happening at The Juniors Group of Clubs.
From live music and entertainment to the races, and all the sporting action on our big screens—there’s no better place than right here at The Juniors. Over the coming months we look forward to welcoming you to our Kingsford, Maroubra and Malabar venues.
Maroubra Fun Run
We are very excited to once again be the major sponsor for the Maroubra Fun Run & Oktoberfest. The event will take place on Sunday 26th October at Arthur Byrne Reserve in South Maroubra where you can run, walk or wheel through the 4km or 8km course. The Fun Run is celebrating its 27th year and will also feature market stalls, kids rides and plenty of other attractions to make it a day out for the whole family. The Fun Run is a great community event and something all our members can be a part of. We look forward to running, walking or wheeling with you over the undulating hills of South Maroubra!
Melbourne Cup & Everest Calcutta
The Melbourne Cup Calcutta is just around the corner, which means it’s time to get your syndicates together for the most important build up event to the race that stops the nation and one of my personal highlights of the year. With a guaranteed $60,000 prize pool it’s going to be a good one. Prepare for a great day out on Sunday 2nd November, with the action kicking off at 3.30pm.
I am also very excited to launch the inaugural Juniors “Everest Calcutta” which will also be held in Henry’s Bar on Friday 17th October. The Everest is becoming one of the biggest races of the year and we will be having our Calcutta the night before the big race. The event will be hosted by Greg Radley from Sky Racing and we hope that it becomes an annual event in our promotions calendar.
Live Shows
I have been enjoying many of our shows in recent months and loved seeing the “full house” signs go up on many of these great shows. We have some of the best local and international shows coming up including our very popular Sunday matinees. We have a varied line-up of Sunday shows including the internationally renowned “Mirusia” on 7th September, “Michael Jackson – King of Pop” direct from the USA on 14th September, and the hilarious musical comedy “The Grandparents Club” on 12th October. All shows are on sale now and there is always something for everyone in the Wintle Theatre!
The Rabbitohs
As another NRL season draws to a close, I reflect on what has been a tough one for the Rabbitohs. Key injuries early in the season hampered our chances and things didn’t improve as each round rolled on. The return of Wayne Bennett had me feeling quite optimistic. However, with only six wins this season at the time of writing, we won’t have the chance to play in the finals. We continue to support the coaching staff and playing group and know we will do better in 2026 with a fit and healthy squad. I particularly can’t wait to see Cameron Murray back on the field next year.

As the days grow longer and the weather warms up, we’re excited to bring you the Spring edition of Encore magazine. There’s a renewed buzz around our venues, and we look forward to welcoming you across Kingsford, Maroubra, and Malabar over the coming months.
Spring is shaping up to be a vibrant season filled with exciting entertainment, delicious dining, fantastic promotions, and plenty of live sport. Our team has been busy curating experiences and events that we know our members will enjoy. We can’t wait to share them with you.
Ground Floor Renovations
I am pleased to report to members that our ground floor at Kingsford renovations are completely finished. This was a 12-month project that was completed with the goal of not halting members from accessing the club during the construction phases. It is very exciting to have the whole completed floor in operation now. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to welcoming you to enjoy the new facilities as the weather warms up heading into spring.
Aristo Greek Restaurant
Our latest food offering ‘Aristo’ is now open on Level 2 and I invite all members to try it out in the coming weeks and months. The team led by Head Chef Aristo and Restaurant Manager Georgina will deliver an authentic Greek experience with delicious flavours and warm hospitality. The restaurant is open Wednesday - Sunday and more information including menus can be found on our website under “Bar and Dining”. It’s a must try when you are next at the club.
49% Off Drinks
Our very popular 49% off drink Happy Hours are back in September! You can enjoy discounted drinks every day in September from 5pm – 7pm.
The drink special runs in all three venues: Kingsford, Maroubra and Malabar and ties in with the NRL finals series as well. Whatever you are doing at our clubs, make sure you get in early for the bargain priced drinks!
Father’s Day
One of the special days of the year is Father’s Day which falls on Sunday 7th September this year. It’s a wonderful day to celebrate all the incredible dads and father figures in our lives and we have multiple dining options available for you to choose from including Treasures Chinese and Aristo Greek restaurant. At Sundeck Brasserie, enjoy the Father’s Day special: the Surf & Turf combo available only on the day. Receive a complimentary drink with any order from the “Grill” section of the Sundeck menu, including the Surf & Turf special. Bookings are recommended and can be made online on our website.
Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
The Juniors Kingsford now has three electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for members’ convenience. These are located just inside the entrance to the club’s car park and are marked by signage in the designated parking bays. EV owners will be able to charge their vehicles whilst visiting the club.
Functions & Events
The Juniors has always welcomed our members to celebrate their important milestones at our venues. We are always working on how we can improve our services to enhance your experience. Our Functions and Events team have just updated our functions and events packages, including our dedicated wedding and engagement package.
