Welcome to the latest edition of the Encore magazine. It is a great time of the year to visit the Juniors Club’s as we deliver a wide range of the best local and international ticketed shows, plus our usual free entertainment, multiple dining options and great promotions. The footy is back as well so there’s something for everyone at our three venues. We look forward to welcoming you to spend some time with us here at the Juniors.
The 2025 season is shaping up as another great year for our Junior League. As always, the Souths Juniors Rugby League competition is one of the most pro-active junior organisations in the state and we are always on the lookout for new players to play the great game of Rugby league.
The NRL have an excellent website playrugbyleague.com where all the rules are easily explained using simple graphics. From there you can simply type in your postcode, and it will list all the local clubs in your area you can play with. You can always just come directly to us at southsjuniors.com.au too if you wish to. Rugby league in our area is a great low-cost winter sport that encourages fun, friends, fitness in a team environment. As well as welcoming new players we are always in need of volunteers for a variety of roles. If you are a member of the club and have some spare time at the weekends, we would love to hear from you. Contact can be made through the league office on 9314 4271.
The Footy is Back!
The 2025 NRL season is almost upon us and there’s a lot to look forward to if you are a Rabbitohs fan. The supercoach Wayne Bennett is back and our squad is fit, healthy and ready to go. I personally can’t wait for round one on Friday March 7th when we take on the Dolphins.
An exciting development this year is that the Juniors will be partnering with the Rabbitohs to bring you exclusive events for both Rabbitohs and Juniors members. The first event will be a Rabbitohs Trivia series over three weeks starting on the 5th March in Henry’s Bar. The questions will be based on all things Rabbitohs and what better way to start the season off with a bit of fun testing your footy knowledge. Full details are on page 20 of the magazine. Stay tuned for a special Rabbitohs themed event for Game one of the State of Origin on May 28th as well.
In entertainment highlights, the hilarious Faulty Towers interactive dinner and show is back at Juniors Maroubra for an encore performance on Saturday April 12th. This night has proved extremely popular in previous years and will definitely sell-out. Those that attend will be in for a great night of laughter with friends as Basil, Sybil and Manuel serve up a three-course meal and plenty of laughs. I would recommend you book as soon as possible to secure your seats at the table.
The traditional Anzac Day dawn service will once again be held at the Cenotaph on Anzac Parade just across from The Juniors Maroubra. The service takes place at 4:30am Friday 25th April. It is one of the most important days on the Juniors Calendar as we join with the Maroubra RSL sub-branch in honouring the men and woman who gave their lives for this great country all those years ago. The spirit is well and truly alive, and all are welcome to pay their respects with us.
Best Regards

It is with immense pleasure that I report to our members for the March edition of the Encore magazine. 2025 is well and truly underway and it is going to be a big year for us as a group of Clubs. Along with the usual array of events and promotions on offer, we are continuing to work on improving our member facilities again this year which has been ongoing in the last three years. It’s going to be an exciting year ahead.
Our biggest project in 2024 was our ground floor renovation work which has included a new foyer. This is continuing in the coming months as we finish off the final stages of this project. We have managed to keep trading throughout and provide facilities to our members as we go but the finish line is now in sight, and we can’t wait to have the whole floor ready to go. I thank all our members for their patience whilst our builders have worked to minimise the disruptions as much as possible.
Our very popular 49% off drinks Happy Hour is back in March. This is one of our most popular promotions of the year and will co-incide with the start of the NRL and AFL seasons. With 49% off all drinks (excluding cocktails), between 5-7pm it’s a great way to kick off a night’s festivities at any of our venues. It’s the best deal in town so make the most of it! With the cost of living a constant talking point you can’t beat an opportunity for discounted drinks at the Juniors!
I’ve just watched a video of a person driving into our carpark and pulling up beside two pushbikes, they then put a pushbike and a helmet in their vehicle and leave the premises. The good news is this was all done under security cameras and when the police went to their residence, the bike was still in
the back of his car. He has been charged and will face the courts in due course. Please ensure bikes etc. are locked and valuables in your car are out of view. If you do see anything like this happening, please report it to security at reception and they will handle the matter from there.
The Wintle Theatre is once again hosting a galaxy of stars in the next three months. March features the return of the hugely popular Todd McKenney, who is performing his tribute to Peter Allen. We have the flamboyant “Hans” performing his unique brand of entertainment for the first time ever at the Club. We will also be hosting Ross Wilson who continues to deliver knock-out performances of his music from Daddy Cool, Mondo Rock and the best of his solo material as well. Tickets are selling fast for all these events, so I recommend you get your tickets soon before they sell-out.
Best Regards
