We are very excited to once again be the major sponsor for the Maroubra Fun Run and Oktoberfest. The event will take place on Sunday 27th October at South Maroubra surf club and will have runners and walkers of all abilities tackling the 4km or 8km course. The Fun Run is celebrating its 26th year and will also feature market stalls, kids rides and plenty of other attractions to make it a day out for the whole family. The Fun Run and Oktoberfest is a great community event and something all our members can be a part of. We look forward to running or walking with you over the undulating hills of South Maroubra!
Melbourne Cup Calcutta
The Melbourne Cup Calcutta is just around the corner, which means it’s time to get your syndicates together for the most important build up event to the race that stops the nation and one of my personal highlights of the year. With a guaranteed $60,000 prize pool it’s going to be a good one. Prepare for a great day out on Sunday 3rd November, with the action kicking off at 3.30pm. Tickets will be on sale from Henry’s Bar from Wednesday 16th October. We are very lucky to have our regular host again this year, Sky Racing’s Greg Radley to lead proceedings as punters go head-to-head to secure their favourite horse. Giddy Up! Then it’s on to the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday 5th November for the race that stops a nation.
As this report goes to print the Rabbitohs are fighting hard to try and sneak into the top 8 for the finals. It’s been a challenging year for the team, but recent results have shown the true fighting spirit the club has and we are hopeful they can go on a last ditch run for the semis. Our Junior League wraps up for another season in September and I wish all the teams that have made it through to the finals all the best as they continue to support the grassroots of the greatest game of all –Rugby league!
Live Shows
I have been enjoying many of our shows in recent months and it is great to see the “full house” signs go up on many of these great shows. We have some of the best local and international shows coming up including YouTube sensations Hindley St Country Club doing a record 3 shows in September, plus in October Aussie icon James Reyne makes his long-awaited return to the club after 10 years! There is always something for everyone in the Wintle Theatre!

CEO’s Report
Ground Floor Renovations
I am pleased to report to members that our ground floor renovations are progressing smoothly and on time. The area closest to the pointy end of the building has been completed, as well as the first stage of the outdoor smoking terrace and we are pleased with the look and feel of the new areas. The renovation is being done in stages so we can minimise any disruptions to our members during this work and we are looking forward to commencing on the foyer area in the upcoming months.
Fratelli Pulcinella Now Open
Our latest food offering “Fratelli Pulcinella” is now open on Level 2 and I invite all members to try it out in the coming weeks and months. The authentic Italian cuisine will deliver a huge range of woodfire pizzas and handmade pasta offerings that would make Nonna proud. This is homestyle cooking at its best. The restaurant will be open Wednesday - Sunday and more information including menus can be found on our website thejuniors.com.au under “Bar and Dining”.

Our very popular 49% off drink happy hours are back in September! You can enjoy discounted drinks every day in September from 5pm – 7pm. The drink special runs in all three venues, Kingsford, Maroubra, and Malabar and ties in with the NRL Finals series as well. Whatever you are doing at our clubs make sure you get in early for the bargain priced drinks!
Father’s Day
One of the special days of the year is Father’s Day which is on Sunday 1st September this year. It’s time to celebrate all the father figures and dads out there and we have multiple dining options available for you to choose from including Treasures Chinese and Fratelli Pulcinella. The Sundeck Brasserie has a special steak and rib combo available on the day. We are also offering a complimentary drink with any meat order at the Sundeck and will have live entertainment from 12pm - 3pm. Bookings are recommended and can be made online from our website.

When you join the club you start off as a Base Member, which entitles you to a member’s discount on food and beverages, show tickets and fitness centre. By using your membership card when purchasing the above items as well as playing gaming machines, you earn points.
HOW ARE POINTS ALLOCATED?
You will earn two sets of points that will go towards the following accounts:

HOW CAN I USE MY GRADE POINTS?
You cannot use your Grade Points. These are used entirely for the purpose of determining your reward tier level. Grade points reset each year on the 1st of September. You can check both your bonus and grade point balance at a kiosk at anytime.
