As another year is drawing to a close I reflect on what has been a year of consolidation for our club. As a business we are battling the cost of living and rising operational costs whilst trying to keep our offerings affordable and attractive to our members. Our Junior League competition has been steady with over 3000 active players in 2024, including an increasing female participation rate which is great to see. I am looking forward to a great 2025 with the completion of our major renovation works early in the new year. I can’t thank our loyal members enough for their support in all that we do here at the Juniors. We appreciate your support!
Each year the Juniors Group of Clubs participates in the ClubGRANTS scheme which provides donations to local charities in the Randwick Council area. I’m very proud of the fact that we are the largest contributor to this scheme and this year we donated over $283k to 47 Individual organisations. Being a community club, we are acutely aware of the vital support all the clubs in the local area provide for these charities. Some of the key charities we have supported this year include Ronald McDonald House , Randwick Meals On Wheels, Camp Quality, as well as many of our local surf clubs.
Season 2024 proved to be a difficult one for the Rabbitohs, finishing out of finals contention and having an interim coach for a large part of the season. I would like to acknowledge the departing players with some significant members of the playing group including Damien Cook and Tom Burgess moving on to new clubs next year. They have given great service to the club
in their time in the red and green and I wish them all the best in the future. The future is looking positive next year as supercoach Wayne Bennett returns to the club and will be looking to get the best out of the playing group in season 2025.
Welcome to 2025!
I’m looking forward to our New Year’s Eve celebrations as it is always a great night at the club with our usual live band on the first floor. This year it’s the very popular “Bandits” band who will no doubt draw a capacity crowd. Bookings are essential for this night to secure a seat on the first floor. We are also running a DJ in Henry’s Bar from 8pm till late and its free of charge for those who miss out on the first floor seating. Grab your friends and family and come and celebrate with us as we pop the cork on a brand new year!
Shake Rattle N Roll
One upcoming event I’m personally looking forward to is the long awaited return of the smash hit dance show “Shake Rattle N Roll” on Saturday 28th December. This stage spectacular features the biggest hits of the rock no roll era as well as an all-star cast of dancers. I thoroughly enjoyed this show last time it was here and urge all members to come along and enjoy a great trip down memory lane.

As the warmer months are now upon us there is a lot to look forward to and we hope you can join us to celebrate the festive season. Our three clubs are ready and waiting for you with some great entertainment including Henry’s Bar at Kingsford, as well as our ticketed shows in the Wintle Theatre and our end of year promotional schedule all in full swing. We have an abundance of food options including Bistro Rouge at Malabar, Geppetto’s at Maroubra and of course Treasures at the Juniors, and the Sundeck Brasserie both at Kingsford. We also welcome back an old favourite “Pinocchios” which I will elaborate on later in this report. It is always best to book when planning a night to secure a great table so come and see us for some summer fun with family and friends.
The Corolla Express Christmas Car Promotion
Our traditional Christmas Car giveaway is on again this year where one lucky member will drive away in a Toyota Corolla valued at $36,000! Entry is simple for members; all you have to do is swipe your membership card when you are at any of our three clubs between November 7th and December 22nd for your chance to win. The more you visit us the better chance you have in the draw. You need be at any of our three venues to win on the big draw night on Sunday 22nd December at 7:30pm. We will be drawing out 6 finalists and giving out a total of $43,000 in car and cash prizes!
Renovation work is well and truly underway which includes all areas of the ground floor and the foyer area. This has meant we have been sectioning off parts of the room as we go whilst trying to minimise disruption to our members as much as possible. The foyer has been particularly challenging, but we
are over the worst of it and look forward to a large portion of the room completed before Christmas. The whole project should be completed in the first quarter of 2025 and we are all excited to see the finished result.
I am pleased to advise members that Pinocchios will be returning to the club on level 2. The team behind the restaurant – the Manias family will once again be at the helm delivering that great homestyle cooking we have all grown to know and love. The restaurant will operate Wednesday – Sunday for dinner only. They will also be open on New Years Eve and I would strongly recommend booking early for this via our website or direct with the restaurant. The restaurant is currently open and trading and ready for your business!
The King Pig Ham promotion is back again this year with a whopping 160 half legs of ham to give away over 2 big nights. We had huge crowds last year with the odds of winning a ham very good.
With the total prizes valued at over $11,000, this is the biggest raffle in the Southern ‘HAMisphere’!!
The also a jackpot bonus $500 in club vouchers to win each night as well. Drawn over two big nights Monday 9th and Monday 16th December. See full details on page 4.

The Juniors have partnered with ‘Escabags’ which is a registered charity that aims to alleviate the immediate trauma of domestic abuse by providing free and effective access to ‘Escape Bags’ in communities.
The Juniors Kingsford is now a proud stockist of ‘Escape Bags’. ‘Escape Bags’ are free, tote bags kindly made with love by volunteers and then filled with the necessities that a victim of abuse and his/her children may need when initially escaping a dangerous or abusive situation.
We stock both the Single Adult Escape Bag and Parent & Child Escape Bag.

Sydney City Toyota is a major sponsor of the Juniors Foundation and we were very thankful to be a recipient of the community defibrillator project. The initiative aims to provide a safer and better-equipped community to handle life-threatening heart attacks by bringing greater awareness to life-saving devices.
We were able to send one of our new supervisors on a CPR course at St Johns NSW which was provided by Sydney City Toyota. They also granted us with a brand-new defibrillator which has been placed in our new foyer.

Each year the Club hosts an annual Intra Club night where we invite the committees from each of our Intra Clubs to join us for a night of food and entertainment to thank them for all the work they do throughout the year for their Club.
This year the theme was Oktoberfest and we had a great night with the oompah band, entertainment by Planet Groove and lots of prizes.
The Juniors is a proud sponsor of the Maroubra Fun Run & Oktoberfest which is a highlight event in the community. The Fun Run was held on Sunday 27th October and the Juniors had a team of staff and Directors (pictured above) who took part in the walk and run and had a wonderful day.
Well done to the Maroubra Chamber of Commerce on another successful Fun Run.
