Randwick City Business Excellence Awards
The Juniors recently took out the award for best club/pub in the recent Randwick City Business Awards held at Royal Randwick Racecourse. We were honoured to win this prestigious award as many great local hospitality venues were also nominated. We would like to thank our members and guests for taking the time to acknowledge our great staff for their outstanding work and customer service which helped us win this award.
Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day is always an important day every year with the Juniors Group of Clubs. The Maroubra RSL Sub-Branch will be holding their annual service opposite The Juniors Maroubra at the cenotaph at 11am on November 11th. This is an important day in our community, and anyone can attend and pay their respects. Both Maroubra and the Malabar Sub-Branches are doing a magnificent job in honouring these great traditions and we fully support all their endeavors.

I would like to remind all our financial Members of the Annual General Meeting which is being held on Monday 21st November 7:30pm in the Wintle Theatre on level two at Kingsford.
The Rabbitohs I am very excited to see what the Rabbitohs can achieve in 2022. At the time of writing this report the Club is in the top 8 with the season back on track. I am confident that we can mount a successful finals campaign and make a run to the grand final. I am looking forward as are all our loyal supporters, to wish the Rabbitohs the best for the rest of the season. Go the Bunnies!
Our Melbourne Cup Calcutta event is fast approaching and is one of our marquee events each year prior to Covid. This is our first time back since 2019 and we are very excited to host it once again. Our last Calcutta event saw the prize pool of over $80,000 pre-covid and this year no doubt will see a record prize pool amount. The event itself will be held on Sunday 30th October in The Henry Morris Bar & Legends Lounge from 3:30pm. The day is full of action especially when the punters go head-tohead to secure their favourite horse in the auction.

The Juniors Maroubra have recently seen a change of caterers from Simon’s Bistro to Geppetto’s. Since 2016 Pinocchio’s has been an established restaurant here at The Juniors Kingsford and now, they have launched Geppetto’s at Maroubra trading from Wednesday - Sunday for lunch and dinner. Geppetto’s offers quality Mediterranean and Italian inspired meals including fresh Australian seafood, delicious steaks, and beautiful pastas.
The safety of our members is always our main priority, and I am pleased to advise the work being done on the external cladding at Kingsford are nearly complete and are due to be finished in August. We thank you for your patience during these disruptions.
Our events team are gearing up for end of year events across The Juniors Group of Clubs. Our locations at Kingsford, Maroubra & Malabar can provide a great location to host your next event. We have recently planned and played host to engagements, weddings, birthday parties, wakes, seminars, and award nights. Across the group we can cater from 30 people up to 500. The Juniors Kingsford has over 30 live shows on offer with a variety of shows from cabaret to our very own Juniors presents dance nights featuring your favourite party band Jellybean Jam doing a 90’s night on Sept 17. Hindley Street Country Club have become one of the feel-good stories to come out of lockdown as it helped grow their audience very quickly when most of the world isolated in their homes and formed a connection with their many musicians that make up the collective. The big challenge from this was will people then buy a ticket to see the band live in concert. That question has been answered with an overwhelming response and their first national tour sold out around the country in March of this year including two sold out shows at the Juniors.

The Hindley Street Country Club have become a global music phenomenon in only four short years as they have built an online fanbase of over 820,000 avid subscribers and followers over both YouTube and Facebook. How did they do it you might ask? Every week on a Friday, a collection of Adelaide’s most talented musicians would record a song and release it on YouTube. Releasing a mix of classic songs from the worlds biggest artists and putting their unique touches to these well-known tunes they have managed to amass over 300 million views for the 220 videos that sit in their catalogue. It’s not only the fans that love the revitalised tracks – the artists themselves have commented including Leo Sayer and Christopher Cross who were both blown away by the Hindley Street versions of their songs.
