oreign tourists to the Valencia region including the Costa Blanca spent just over three percent more in the year leading up to the end of last November compared to the same period in 2014, as hotel occupancy figures also showed the best year for the Costa Blanca since 2008, just before the recession kicked in Over five point three billion euro was spent by visitors in the first eleven months of 2015, with Valencia tourism chief, Francesc Colomer, describing the figures as very encouraging but stressed

the need to see tourists visit the region all year round, and not just across the warmer months. Meanwhile hotel occupancy rates for Alicante Province and Murcia for December 2015 were up on the same month the previous year. Total hotel occupancy for Alicante Province for the whole of last year stood at 66.5 percent, with the Costa Blanca, including Benidorm, hitting 76.8 percent in the best figures since 2008, according to the regional hoteliers association, HOSBEC. HOSBEC say that the domestic market is on the

rise, and accounts for some 60 percent of the occupancy rates, whilst not surprisingly, British tourists are the largest group of international

visitors, with HOSBEC putting down the popularity of the area to easy access, a good range of hotels, and good value.
